I've had the Jet 14" bandsaw for about eight months, and use it almost daily. I have the riser block and extender kit to increase its resaw capacity.pThe first thing I would recommend to anyone who buys this saw is to replace the "cool block" type blade guides with roller guides. I just have the relatively affordable off-brand rollers that fit right in Jet's guide holders, and these improved blade vibration and reduced deflection substantially.pAlso, buy good blades. I've been satisfied with Olsen, Timberwolf, and others but the premium blades don't cost that much more and do seem to improve the cut.pBe careful during assembly. Jet cheaps out on the quality of nuts and bolts. Though I'm not particularly strong, I managed to twist the heads right off three bolts during assembly; one is still in place today, headless. pThe Jet folks really try to help if there's a problem. I needed a part that was back-ordered and they sent a whole assembly containing the part to avoid delay. Too bad there were no extra bolts in the package!pDust collection on this unit is a joke. Be sure you have an ambient air cleaner or an outdoor opening near this saw so you don't end up with a lungful of sawdust.pAll adjustments of blade guides can be done easily, from the table top, without tools. You look through the insert hole to adjust the bottom ones. This may not be true of the more expensive roller guide kits - if it's important to you, check.pThe table is solid and it's easy to adjust the tilt. Fence is nicely square but can't be mounted at an angle for sawing veneer. Measuring using the standard fence is impossible. You will have to use a ruler or tape measure each time. With the riser block extender, blade size is 105" and the saw can use anything from 1/8 through 3/4 inch blades. pThe tensioner is hard to use. It's on top, in the back, and the settings aren't visible unless you're over six feet tall. I keep a box behind the unit to stand on and built a wooden "wing" handle that fits over the knob. A tension relief handle would be a great addition to this design, hope Jet thinks of it soon.

I purchased the Jet 14" bandsaw almost a year ago, use it almost daily, and it is going strong. It is used about 80% of the time resawing walnut, cherry and exotic woods like purpleheart, yellowheart and paduak. I am very satisfied with the peformance and repeat precision of the bandsaw. I just got done resawing 1/16" walnut blanks. Resawed the blanks into 3/32", then put them thru the Performax (Jet) Drum sander, and now have a precise thin stock 1/16" walnut blank for overlays and inlays! No high or low spots, just consistant precise thickness from the bandsaw.pThe setup was simple, took about 2 hours, the manual is very self explainitory and easy to follow. I would suggest having a helper available, the base is very heavy. If you think you might ever put the bandsaw on a mobile base, do it now. For later would mean doing the heavy lifting all over again. Having the bandsaw on a mobile base allows for more options in your workshop as to the positioning and placement of the tools as you as actually using them and just having them sit there waiting to be used.pBlade changes are easy, taking less than 5 minutes to reduce tension on the wheels, remove blade, insert new blade and reposition the wheel tension to the proper level. I would throw the blade that came with the bandsaw away, and use either Timberwolf of Lennox carbide tipped blades. The Lennox 3/4" blades are perfect for resawing. I have not had must luck or quality production results from the Delta blades.pThere is very little vibration in the machine, the powerful 1 hp motor cuts thru the purleheart with precision. pAre there better bandsaws out there ? There sure is, but not at this price. I am very satisfied with the Jet 14" bandsaw's performance and precision!

I've owned this band saw for a year. Before purchasing, I researched others, including Delta, Grizzly, Ridgid, and General. I've written this review to answer the kind of questions I had when I was still shopping for a band saw!pAssembly is simple. The manual contains photos of each step, with hardware and parts clearly visible. Aligning the upper and lower wheels is no problem -- they were aligned perfectly out of the box. Installing the rip fence is also easy -- all the mounting hardware are designed for this machine.pIn your daily band saw setup routine, there are five main steps: (1) Install blade; (2) Tension blade; (3) "track" blade; (4) adjust blade guard; (5) adjust guides. These are typical steps in setting up any band saw, but the Jet is easier than other 14" saws.br brInstalling and/or removing blades on the Jet 14" is easy. The upper and lower guides loosen up, and the blade slips out through the table without a problem. When installing a new blade, it's easy to guide it into the blade guard, mount it on the two wheels, and center it. Hint: when installing a blade, make sure the teeth are pointing DOWNward. Every new band saw owner installs a band saw blade upside down once.pWith your blade centered on the wheels, use the tension knob to tighten the blade to the correct level. Jet designed the tension knob so it is above the wheel cover. This sounds like a small detail, but other brands position the tension knob so you bang your knuckles against the metal as you turn it -- very annoying. There's a tension indicator showing blade width. According to the manufacturer, you can use blades from 1/8" to 3/4", but 1/2" is the widest I've used.pWith the blade tensioned, adjust the "tracking" (removes any blade wobble). Jet has designed a great system for adjusting tracking. First, loosen a wing nut. Then, spin one of the wheels with your hand. As you spin the wheel, turn the tracking knob one way or another until you see that the blade stays in the center of the wheel. Then tighten the wing nut again, and you're done. This saw holds its tracking setting, even after hours of use.pThe next step is to adjust the blade guard. Jet's blade guard is a step ahead of the other brands. Loosen a knob, then set the blade guard for the proper height (I set mine about 1/8" above the wood). What sets the Jet apart is that, even with the blade guard knob loosened, the blade guard stays in place if you let go of it. With the Delta, when you loosen the blade guard, it crashes down onto the table. The engineers at Jet were smart to design their blade guard differently -- it saves crushed fingers and dented wood!pNext, adjust the saw guides. Again, the Jet 14" is easier than others. The upper and lower guides are both very accessible. For both the upper and lower guides, there are side supports and a rear roller. To adjust the rear roller, loosen a wing nut, then turn a thumb screw until the guide is set, then re-tighten the wing nut. For the side supports, first position it properly frontwards and backwards, then push the block against the blade. For frontward/backward adjustment, there is a wing nut/thumb screw system; to set the blocks against the blade, loosen a couple of screws, slide the blocks, and re-tighten the screws. All of this is engineered well on the Jet, making the adjustments go quickly.pThe rip fence that comes with this saw is solid and locks down securely. The design of the fence is almost like Jet's table saw fences. The fence comes with two steel rails, which bolt onto the table, one in front and one in back. The front rail has a built-in measure, and a pointer on the fence allows you to read precise inch marks. This fence is very accurate, and holds its settings, even after running several pieces through the saw. The fence comes with a re-saw feature, a "peg-style" attachment.pRipping straight lines on this saw is a pleasant task. You read all the time about "blade drift," but if you take the time to set up this saw as described above, there's no blade drift. For cutting curves, I use a 1/8" blade and find it easy to follow my guidelines. The saw feels smooth and safe. The table on this saw is a couple of inches larger than other models -- a plus when working with bigger pieces of wood.pThis saw has adequate power for everything I've cut. On 1X material, the saw cuts without bogging down, even when pushing the wood quickly. Even using inexpensive blades, the saw cuts smoothly. With Timberwolf blades, I've noticed smoother cuts.pThe best test of band saw power is re-sawing. I've used the Jet 14" to re-saw up to 5" wide, using 1/2" blades. Push the wood slowly when re-sawing hardwoods such as oak. Don't try to rush this saw when re-sawing wide boards because it will bog down a bit. If I feed the wood at an even, slow pace, it's not a problem. I've used this saw to slice off 1/16" veneer, and it's performed well. Again, the blade you use makes a difference. With the right blade, very little sanding is needed.pDust collection is, at best, decent. None of the 14" band saws I tested had adequate dust collection. The good thing is, a band saw does not produce much dust.pThis saw has been a terrific addition to my woodshop. In almost every wood project I do, I have come to rely on this band saw to play a major role.

I just purchased the JET JWBS-14CSW Band Saw and sold my 4 yr old Grizzly G1019 14" Band Saw. After using the Grizzly for 4 years I can assure you this JET band saw is in a class all by its self. The Grizzly was an ok band saw for the price, but suffers from poor craftsmanship, proper wheel balance, difficult to keep blade in track and vibration. Getting a true cut was impossible. The JET band saw was easy to set up, took about 2 hours. The manual is easy to understand. The first thing I purchased with the saw was a "Link Belt"; all my power tools have the Link Belt. During set-up I used "liquid lock-tight" on all the bolts and screws (for assembly parts only) to ensure no loose hardware down the road. After set up was complete I was truly impressed with the very low to non-existent vibration. I can turn it on and balance a nickel on edge. The quality of craftsmanship, to include wheels, tires, guides, solid base piece, large tabletop, and the fine tune adjustment knobs for all the blade adjustments make for a "TOP QUALITY" saw for the price. This is not the only JET TOOL in my wood shop; I also have the Bench Top Mortise machine and 6" Jointer. I look forward to many years of use and obtaining quality woodworking results. Thanks JET keep up the good work.........

In this price range, this band saw can't be beat. I've ued mine for ripping, resawing, precision work, hardwoods, softwoods, plastics. The only time the motor bogs down is when I'm resawing thick stock.
br /
br /But there are a few things I'd change:
br /
br /1. The guide blocks wear awfully fast. I bought a set of Cool Blocks and they are wonderful.
br /
br /2. The fence isn't so hot. After just a few weeks, it wouldn't lock to the table. I now insert a piece of sandpaper in the locking cam. It works but this could be designed better. (Fences are not new technology--this really shouldn't be a problem.)
br /
br /3. The table top is just too small.
br /
br /4. Buy the riser (height extender). Before long, you'll want to resaw a 10" wide board. Trust me, you will.
br /
br /5. The dust control port is stupid, awful and a waste of time. The port is 2 1/2" on the exit side. But, if you look inside the port, the internal restriction is 1" x 1/2" !!! Whoever designed this should be fired. (Don't designers test their products?) You will want to cut a hole on the door and install a 4" dust port. Relatively easy to do. And it is worth it. With a 4" dust port, you could run the band saw in the living room. JET really needs to fix the dust port.
br /
br /Overall, I'm satisfied for the price.

I sat on the Delta/Jet fence for nearly 2 months before committing to this purchase (I got the Jet 14" Drill Press too). I think that the Delta and Jet are very comparable and side by side there isn't much difference. I am very pleased with my bandsaw, especially the fence and table (that feature deserves its own close up picture on the website). I am planning on a few upgrades such as: Carter guides, mobile base by ???, and a better blade. I had my tool in a matter of days and it arrived in great condition. brAside on the Bandsaw: brFor me, the bandsaw is the unsung shop hero. The tablesaw gets all the attention and is the star quarterback, but the bandsaw is like a great wide-receiver that scores all the touchdowns and stays with the ball. I go to the bandsaw to make cuts that can't be done anywhere else. The bandsaw isn't making the long rip/cross cuts or dadoes, but if you are serious about furniture/cabinet construction, you can't survive long without a good bandsaw.

I purchased this tool with the 6" riser block. The quality of manufacturing is great. I found no problems with the saw when I unpacked it and assemly was a breeze.pThis saw is very solidly made, cast iron. I LOVE the fence. Blade tracking is true. The blade does not wander while cutting. Dust collection is not very effective but this seems to be a common problem on most bandsaws. pAfter using this saw for approx. 1 year, the only thing I would change is the motor. Although it comes with a 1HP motor, it has some trouble when resawing hardwoods. It does the job but not without struggling a little.

I consider it 'low-end' of the group because it lacks some of the features of the basic Delta, but also of the new 14" Jet which wasn't available at the time I purchased this one.pThe Jet doesn't have cast iron trunnions which holds up the table, it's cast aluminum, so the table will flex under pressure. How much is ok depends on what you're doing and what you think you can tolerate. The Powermatic has cast iron trunnions, so do all of the Deltas, even the cheapest.pThe lower adjuster is a little harder to get to than the delta. The knobs on the Delta are out of the way so you can get your fingers on them a little easier. That's perhaps splitting hairs but it also supports the blade lower on the bottom while the lower blade support on the Delta is higher which supports the blade closer to the table.pThe Delta has a few extra spokes on its wheels so does the new Jet. Supposed to help cut down vibration. I haven't had trouble with vibration that couldn't be made better by adjustment.pIn a nut shell, it works fine. It runs smooth and quite. I did replace the v-belt with a like belt. That quiets it down a bit more and reduces motor vibration. Which I should mention, getting the belt aligned and to reasonable tension is truly an art. I think some form of reengineered mounting/aligning method is well overdue.pAt some point I'll get the Carter automatic tensioner. This will essentially make it the new Jet minus the 9 spoke wheels. I might even check the price of the Powermatics Trunion. They're exactly the same as the Jets as far as shape just better material.pAdding up the costs would equal a bit better saw with the payments spread out. A little more money will get you a "5 star" for this size saw.brbrThis Jet performs very good and I'm pleased with the performance. it's just the details I wasn't aware of until I brought it home and putting it together. Then read "The Bandsaw Book".

Shipping was faster than anticipated. Got a coordination call from FedEx heavy delivery to be home when it arrived--appreciated that. Came in two boxes, mostly in good shape except for the one containing the stand, which had a slight ding but no paint damage. Assembly was straightforward and quick with exceptionally well designed instructions. Blade and other adjustments were easy. Operation is quiet, particularly with the enclosed stand. Overall quality is excellent, and I'm comparing this with my dad's old Boice-Crane that he's had for 40 years. A very nice machine, easy to use, has plenty of power for all manner of cuts including heavier things like 4x4's with no sweat. Looks to me to be slightly better finish and quality than Delta, but certainly in the same ballpark. Based on my experience with this saw, I'm planning to get a Jet sander and maybe a drill press after this.

I recently purchased this Jet bandsaw and it has quickly become the pride of my shop. It cuts like butter through even tough wood, runs quietly, and cuts straight. The saw will quickly pay for itself through its ability to do excellent resawing, and the fence and miter gauge which were included at the time are excellent. If there's a better band saw out there for the money, or even close to it, I can't find it. Wheels were perfectly co-planer right out of the box. Setup was simple except for tensioning the motor-belt assembly. I had to do it by myself, next time I will make sure there is someone there to help. You need at least four hands!brCan't praise the quality or the cuts enough - buy it! You WILL NOT regret it!brRobert

This is a good saw for the money. However, if you plan on doing quite a bit of resawing, I would recommend you buy at least the 1.5 horse model. By the time you buy a fence, riser kit, and upgrade to the roller bearings you might as well have spent the money on an 18". The 18" has those features standard and is a better built saw. pIf you don't plan on doing much resawing, this saw will suit you just fine and I would rate it 4 stars.

I have spent a year looking at the different band saws. At first I was looking at Delta and comparing it to the other saws. I got stuck on Delta because I own other Delta tools and I liked the quality and performance of these machines. So, I ordered a Delta 14 inch band saw. But after reading the reviews (excellent source of information) I quickly cancelled the order. Then about the same time a Jet 14 inch band saw caught my eye. It was the same price and the reviews were excellent. So I purchased it. I was impressed right from the start. I received the saw 3 days early (way to go ABF). It took a little time to assemble the saw but it went right together. After a few fine adjustments were made on the blocks and the bearing the saw was ready to go. The operation was smooth and very little vibration. Only one recommendation, purchase the mobile base at the same time. It will save time and your back moving it around the shop.

I've owned this saw for eight months, and it's proven itself a worthy tool and a good quality/cost balance.pDuring my research the Jet stood out as the clear choice in its price range. Other saws just weren't built with the Jet's attention to fit, finish, durability and ergonomics. I also liked the mobile base-friendly closed stand (important in my tiny shop) and the large, tilting table. The wheel doors and pulley housing are made of stamped sheet steel instead of plastic like some other saws in this price range. And the paint is better than on some new cars I've owned.pSetting up the saw was a snap. It arrived in two boxes, one for the closed base and the other for the C-frame and other assemblies. Its machined table was coated in cosmoline and packed in a heavy plastic sleeve and all loose hardware organized into plastic bags. It took me about an hour and a half to mount the C-frame on the base, attach the belt and pulley housing (which required some bending to make the door open and close properly) and mount the table (the trickiest part). I didn't encountered the weak bolts described by others. Jet seems to have upgraded its fasteners in response to customer feedback. The most time-consuming part of the setup process was blade and blade-guide alignment, but step-by-step instructions made this easy.pThe controls on the saw are nicer to use in comparison with other saws I've used. For example, the well-formed (if small) blade tension knob extends above the top of the C-frame to prevent bruised knuckles. The knobs for the table tilt and the blade guide height are similarly nicely-shaped and angled, making for easy table adjustments. The trunnions under the table are a little lighter-gauge than one might hope, and I don't like the cheesy angle indicator (which was badly miscalibrated out of the box). But the table tilts smoothly, has a sturdy adjustable stop at 90 degrees, and is rigid when locked down.pI was amazed at how quiet the saw was when I first turned it on--no vibration, resonance or rattles. I was also pleasantly surprised at the accuracy of the blade-tracking, even with the poor-quality blade that comes with this saw. The 1 HP motor provides plenty of power (despite the poor blade) for tight jigsaw puzzle cuts in 3/4" material and is adequate for resawing of 6" hardwoods. Blade tracking when resawing is acceptable; a resaw blade should improve resaw performance.pThe JWBS-14CS has solid blade guides which should be adjusted and sanded flat occasionally for optimal blade control. The solid guides seem to provide better blade tracking than the roller guides I've used in the past.pThe main shortfall with the JWBS-14CS is its dust-collection. The 2" port connected under the table is of limited benefit. With a dust collector it reduces the amount of loose sawdust by, perhaps, 30%. I will likely replace this with one or two shop-built 4" ports in the future.pSince I bought the Jet, Grizzly has come out with a 14" saw that costs somewhat less and offers features the Jet doesn't (notably, a fence and miter gauge). The only other saw I would consider is Delta's US-made 14" saw. It costs somewhat more but offers heftier table trunnions and other, marginal, quality upgrades.pThat said, the JWBS-14CS is worthy of the Jet name, has been a pleasure to own and use, and I recommend it.

I purchased this saw about a year ago and though I don't use it for every project it does get considerable use. I run a small custom furniture and cabinet shop and rely on quality equipment to get the job done. The Jet perofrms very well and I have no complaints. The only issue that I had was that the enclosed stand was dented from shipping. The motor was also installed in the stand and due to the rough handling in shipping it caused the motor mounts to become bent and misaligned. After some minor repair and staightening I had it up and running in no time.brI complained to Jet directly about the shipping damage so that they would perhaps correct their method of packaging. To my suprise and without asking they shipped me not only a new stand but also a new motor via Fedex 2-day. I now have not only a quality piece of equip. but spare parts in the event I ever need them in the future. The have superb customer service and I'm very satisfied with my purchase after using it for a year. I have no doubt that this saw will give me many years of service and I would recommend Jet to anyone.

But not this time. I have the use of a 40 year old bandsaw, that in the last year or so I have spent quite a bit on, to get it up to snuff for making bandsaw boxes and resawing, and it does an ok job most of the time. But it is a borrowed unit. While in Sears last week, I noticed they had placed their 2002 "floor" model on sale, "as is", for a little more than half the retail price. No fence or manual, but it was already assembled (good job too). After several moments of thinking about it, I bought it and hauled it home. After returning the borrowed saw to its home, I set up my new Jet in its place and referring to "The Bandsaw Book", went thru the routine of tuning it up for operation. First thing you notice is how quiet it runs compared to the older saw. Absolutely no vibration and with a TimberWolf blade it cuts like a dream. Blade guide adjustments are easy, and the extended blade tensioner makes it much nicer to tension and detension the blade. I agree with another reviewer than a Carter type roller guide system is the way to go and will be installing one of these soon, but the "block" system that came with the saw seems to do an adequate job. I like the easy access to the motor and upper pulley. The hinged doors on the blade wheels are a real treat to someone used to having to remove the covers on the older unit. The fit and finish (powder coating) is excellant and I found no dents, dings or scratch's anywhere on the saw. I called Jet's customer service and they are sending me a manual and warrenty registration via UPS. I rated this unit 4 stars mainly because of the dust control fitting supplied with the saw. I think Jet (and everyone else) should really supply a 4" fitting as the band saw really makes a lot of dust. Not hard to add a 4" outlet on the lower door, but would like to see it a factory item. I think this is a very good saw and will serve me well for a long time. Sometimes ya do get lucky on impulse buys.brUPDATE: I've had the saw for over a month now, and am still very pleased with it's performance. I have used it for several badsaw box's, resawing dry and green wood, and cutting 5/4 decorative bases for hope chest's. I have changed the dust collection to 4" and added a HTC(jet) mobile base(see separate review). I am still amazed at how quiet this saw is compared to the old one and the ease of adjustments and blade changes. I have made my own fence (actually three of them), copied from The Bandsaw Book, and don't miss the factory one at all. Still feel I got a great deal and a great little saw.brAnother update...have added the Jet "Carter Style" roller guides and they are the cat's meow. Blade changes are now much easier as the setup takes less time. The added support of these roller guides makes resawing and tight contour's much easier and my blade drift has decreased to almost non existant. If you use your saw a lot...this is a very worthwhile addition.

Jet produces a fine alternative to the venerable Delta 14"... at hundreds (yes, plural!) less. Will it last as long and run as sweet? Well, I've owned this saw for almost ten years and have had very few problems with it... and those that I've had have been easy and inexpensive to fix. It is a precise and powerful tool - set it up properly once and it pretty much stays that way! It is singularly easy to maintain and I expect it will run for the next ten years with flying colors!

Powerful and smooth, Mathew Schenkar has a review on this saw that hits the nail square on the head so I won't go into that much detail, it's a great tool! I have made some upgrades to mine over the years like Carter guides (best thing I've done), Installed the Jet 6" Riser Block and made a spring quick release like the one in Woodsmith Magazine, you'll want this for faster blade changes. This Saw is a work horse, steady and true, I highly recommend this saw.

After hours and months or reseach and review reading I came to purchase the Jet 14" bandsaw. I am only going to review what I have seen in the limited time that I have owned it. It took about two hours for complete set up to include the mobile base, fence system, and riser block. Only very minor adjustments were made which you would expect from any new tool purchase. I encountered no problems with the enclosed hardware and the fit and finish on the machine was excellent. First time out the machine passed the nickle test with all stock parts to include the belt.

I didn't get this from Amazon, only because I was a recipient of a gift card for a local woodworking chain here in Houston. I don't think Amazon will mind me adding my 2 cents, though! When I was looking to purchase a bandsaw, I was originally looking for a Delta. After reading the reviews of Delta's, and this one, I opted for the Jet. Both are similar, and offer a 6" riser block, I think the one piece cabinet was superior, and was instrumental in my purchasing this, instead of the Delta. I've purchased a riser block, and a larger aftermarket table, and now this bandsaw is just AWESOME!!! I 've even attempted resawing, with no problems!! I probably would've been happy with the Delta, but I'm glad I got a Jet. Matthew Shenker has done a very thorough review on this bandsaw, take a look, and join us in owning a great bandsaw!!!

This was the second JET product we purchased (after the vac) and we have been extremely pleased with it. In our shop, it is used on a daily basis and with the exception of POOR DUST CONTROL, it is a delight to use. Changing blades, adding the resaw equipment is as simple as just taking the time to do it without requiring repetive or bizzare adjustments. We have added an after market table top to increase it's size and provide a fence that is more precise... but day after day, we find it the easiest power tool in the shop to use...

I have had this bandsaw for about 3 weeks and I wonder how I got along without a bandsaw. It is easy to set up (although it does take two people). The alignment is straightforward but does take a while to get it right. I would recommend the 6 inch riser kit and the band saw fence as necessary accessories.

This is my first bandsaw. I purchased it on the basis of the JET name for quality. I also purchased the HTC mobile base. I use my garage for my shop, so a mobile base is a necessity. They all arrived by truck. The trucking company called ahead and scheduled a day to deliver which was very helpful. I definitely would recommend having a second person available to help with the lifting of the saw onto the base and with the tensioning of the drive belt. There are four bolts that hold the motor that must be loosened to move the motor. It is almost impossible to hold the motor tight and tighten the bolts back up once the motor is in the proper position. I was disappointed the saw came without a fence or miter gage and that no accessories are listed as being avaiable in the materials contained with the saw. The adjusting of the saw blade was straight forward, but the guides under the table were not easy to see or adjust without removing the table. It probably took about five hours to set it all up, but I am looking forward to many hours of use wih this essential tool for my shop.

I purchased this saw a month ago thru Amazon. Set up was straght forward and took about two hours. The saw arrived with a ding in the upper wheel cover and a bent blade tensioner, both correctable in the shop. This is my first band saw and is living up to expectations and then some. It cuts 4/4 hardwoods accurately and with little saw marks. I have used it on oak, maple and walnut. I do wish it came with a fence and miter as these are almost always going to be added. My first Jet tool (I have Grizzly, Delta and Craftsman), it will not be my last. I am a better than novice woodworker. (This is Deborra's husband Dennis)

Works great, easy setup. This unit comes in two boxes, make sure you get both boxes when you pick it up. (at least it gave me an excuse to go to Sears again) This is one of the quietest machines in my shop. You will want a mobile base if you need to move it around the shop, HTC2000 works great for me.

I bought this saw three years ago and have had nothing but problems since.
br /
br /I also have a Jet tablesaw -- which I love -- that led to me purchasing this bandsaw.
br /
br /For the money, this saw should come better built, better-equipped, and/or better-priced.
br /
br /It lacks decent blade bearings -- so add to purchase price $100+ for Carter bearings. Also add the extension pack for resawing -- another $50-$100, plus blades.
br /It lacks a blade de-tensioner, add another $150.
br /
br /It does not come balanced and will shake like crazy, so add your time to balance the wheels.
br /
br /The dust extraction is a joke and it has nothing to clean the dust off the bottom wheel as it is working -- add your time to resolve that.
br /
br /The hardware that they use to get the blade tensioner is third-rate and I am replacing it for the third time.
br /
br /All-in-all, I wish I had bought the Laguna -- my buddy has one for less than I sank into this machine and his is reliable.
br /
br /The only positive note I have to add, is that when it is running nicely, after much tuning, it does work well -- but that doesn't seem to last too long a time.
br /
br /Good luck,
br /Erik.

Don't get me wrong, this is a great saw for the $$$. I ordered this with the 6" rise for re-saw, the jet fence (good fence) and mobile base (required in my garage) + I added the after market roller bearing guides.
br /Needless to say it has lived up to Jets reputation, blade changes are ez and the saw works well under most circumstances. BUT if you are ripping 10-12" hard woods, (or anything wet), it could sure use a stronger moter

I bought this bandsaw through Woodcraft. At the time it was $549.99 with free shipping, $50.00 rebate AND free miter gauge and fence. A great deal I figured.
br /This saw has quickly become one of my shops most valued tool. It performs flawlessly and it's a pleasure to use. Most of my sawing is for resawing Cherry 5/4 into veneer. I want to stretch the cherry wood I had milled four years ago from trees that were cut on my property. It does the job perfectly for that.
br /I only have two beefs with Jet. One, is the 4 inch dust collection outlets is absolutely useless. It's on the side above where dust wants to settle therefore most of my dust is either on top of the cast iron bed or slips through the bottom where the door opens to alloy you to change blades. It's either that or my Jet dust collector is crap. The latter is not the case because that works great for my other tools in removing dust and chips in my shop.
br /The other complaint is the jet blade that comes with the saw. Junk, junk, junk. Throw it away before you make your first cut. I ordered and installed an Olson blade and man, what a huge difference and they are inexpensive too. I can't imagine what an expensive blade would do.
br /Anyway, if you're thinking of buying it just do it. Your gonna love it.

Arrived in a very timely manner. This item exceeded all expectations from Amazon. Quick, free shipping and easy set up. Got the riser block at the same time to make it a one time set up. Whatever was written before as negatives on these two items seem to have been resolved. I had absolutely no problems setting it up alone. The pulley system was already aligned from the factory. More than enough electrical cord to install the riser block without incident.
br /
br /Be sure to order the proper blades you may need from Highland Hardware if you are into resawing or need a spare blade. I am very pleased and have recommended this item(s) to friends.

This is one great unit for the money, and was extremely fast and easy to assemble right out of the cartons. One feature that was noticed as soon as I turned it on was the limited vibration. The only concern I have is the use of graphite guide blocks. The bandsaw I owned before purchasing the Jet used roller guides, which worked pretty well. Time will tell, but if needed, I can always change them out.

This is my fourth band saw. And it the best one so far. Needless to say that I use it a lot. I did add the 6" riser kit and am happy with the way that worked out. The blade is still very solid and has that really nice sound of a good band saw. You know the sound when you hear it. I have only one thing that I wish it had on it. That would be a blade brush. The wheels seem to pick up junk that will get them out of balance. Other than that I am very happy with this tool and I would do it again if I need another one some time.

I spent a lot of time researching bandsaws prior to making this pruchase and am so glad I did. This saw does everything all the research said it would, and more. There is one thing I would like that it didn't come with and that is a quick tension release. Carter makes one and that will probably be my next purchase. As far as the accuracy, quality of fit and finish and quietness goes for this saw, I rate it "fantastic". It is one of the best buys for the money. If you are looking forward to upgrading your current bandsaw as I was or are making your first purchase, I highly recommend this one.

I have had the Jet bandsaw for over a year. I have used to resaw 2x4 pine boards to build a fence. It has done well to resaw hardwoods such a oak and birch. It has all the power needed to resaw a 6" oak board. I also make boxes which I cut curves in a 6" thick piece of hardwood with no problems. I would recommend spending the extra money to get the 1 hp motor instead of the 3/4 hp. The guides adjust quickly and the blade tracks well. The only problem I have had is the blade tensioner broke after approximately 6 months. Jet quickly sent a new part and it was easy to replace. I have been very happy with this product and I use it all the time.

I was looking for a 14 inch bandsaw that could be converted to metal working applications down the road if I was so inclined. This saw fit the bill. A few cosmetic issues asside, I've been happy with this saw. Get the Riser unit.

Purchased the Jet 14 inch bandsaw from Amazon.com- Delivered within a week (free shipping- how can you beat that?). Took less than an hour to set up. I have had no problems with the saw and it appears to be a quality saw that will last a lifetime. It would be good if the saw came with a fence and miter guide.

Just spent two hours putting together the Jet 710115K 14" Bandsaw - including mobile base, fence, and Carter blade guides. The manual was very clear and easy to follow. Fit and finish is excellent. Adjustments were very easy and it ran very quiet, with minimal vibration, and it cut wood with ease. I did need to run to the store to get a 10mm wrench in order to change the guides. I'd debated between the Delta and the Jet, but choose the Jet because of it's better reviews, and because it's 1 1/4 horse verses Delta's 1 horse power. I'm very happy with the choice.

Jet is knocked out by Rikon

Band saw is very important for some woodworking styles. Thus, I do rip on band saw a lot, since it is much safer than table saw for small pieces. I also like curves which are not composed from circles. I make tenon and dovetails on band saw.
br /So, I have got this saw (not from Amazon), sold it, and bought Rikon 14" deluxe version.
br /Let's compare
br /1. Rikon can resaw 12", no riser block kit needed.
br /2. Rikon has 20x16" table, no aftermarket table needed.
br /3. Rikon has much more advanced guides.
br /4. Rikon has 1-1/2" HP motor
br /5. Rikon does not vibrate at all
br /6. Most important point, Rikon can properly tension 3/4" carbide blades
br /7. Finally, Rikon has absolutely terrific customary service (have not seen better).
br /Rikon is $750, Jet band saw plus all after market items to match only some specification of Rikon is $900. So, Rikon 14" saw will knock out Jet band saw in a minute. Delta band saw in a second.

I finally got the saw. It was pretty easy to set up. I have made a set of shelves with decorative ends. It went smoothly. I would agree with one of the other reviewers, buy new blades. The initial blade went pretty quick using maple for the shelves. I would rate four stars for the saw. No other major complaints.

br /I ordered this item on Sept 26, 2006. The item alledgedly was to ship within "one or two" business days. I have only experienced delays from Amazon. I wonder if this was discontinued and now Amazon will just cancel the order. With the number of similarly priced items purchased over the past three or four years (not including items purchased by my wife), you would think that Amazon would "belly up to the bar" and make good instead of just cancelling the item.
