I wasn't sure why DeWalt had two 18v cordless saws. The other one is called a trim saw. I still don't know about that one, but this one is no trim saw. I was quite surprised with the run time of a battery in something like a saw that sucks power. With one battery, I can work for an hour or two, making a couple of dozen cuts in two-by lumber (mostly 2x8 2x10 crosscuts), or half a day cutting regular 1 inch boards. Once, I even cut about 6 4x8 cedar posts (two passes, but no problem). And since the batteries charge in an hour or less, with two batteries I'm never out of juice. I wouldn't want to frame with this saw, but for small jobs it's more than adequate (really quiet, too). For $100, you can't go wrong, the cordless convenience is a huge plus. If I were to take away anything from DeWalt tools in general, it would be those gi-normous black suitcases they come in. With this saw, a corded drill, and two routers, I almost had to add a wing to the shop to store them.

br /As long as you realize this is not a 12 amp worm drive saw, you won't be disappointed.

Once again I am completely satisfied with a Dewalt Reconditioned tool. I picked up a second battery and a better blade and I'm very pleased with the power and the quality of cut.

I probably would have been disappointed at the non-refurbished price, but when it was on sale for around $70, I couldn't resist. Heck, the battery costs about that much. My primary circular is a PorterCable with lots of power and blade on the right. The DeWalt has blade on the other side, so I keep them both lying about when doing light framing and use one or the other depending on which end of the board I need to trim, as a right handed user. It is also very useful to run up a ladder and trim something quickly. Or to go to another floor in the house to do a quick job and not deal with hooking up an extension cord, etc. As others have said - if your expectations are grounded in reality, you will find it a useful tool.
What a deal!

I read the reviews and decided to take a chance on the reconditioned Dewalt saw. It arrived quickly and looked brand new! Not a scratch anywhere! I put it to work and it is great, alot more power than my Ryobi that I am replacing. Didnt find a problem with the safety location as some have stated. Go for it, you'll love it.

The saw is fine but the battery will not come completly up and turn off the charger light when left on for tune up. I've tried it on two diferent chargers and it does not work as discribed on either charger. as with other batteries I realized that it would not reach full charge until it had been charged a few times

I love this saw. Does exactly what it says, works like a charm. The battery doesn't last that long at all, which isn't that surprising. I can cut a one pass of 16 feet of 1/4 in" wood, then the battery needs a recharge. Maybe this is normal, I don't know. What I do know is a replacement battery cost's more then this entire reconditioned package deal. In conclusion, I am very happy with this saw. Dewalt should sell all their tools at this reconditioned price. Thank you Amazon, customer for life!

I've spend a little less than $100 and got the saw, battery, charger, and the plastic case. I wan't expecting the case, but it come in it. What a surprise. The unit looks to be in new shape although it was a refurrb.
br /I've not used it yet, but it will be in heavy use pretty soon.

An excellent buy. The item I received has a few minor scratches, but otherwise in great shape. Reconditioned Dewalt tools aren't what I though they would be.
So far so good

I bought several on sale after christmas 1/2 off regular price. Sold them to myfriends and everone that has tried them likes them. I will watch the battery so see if they develope any problems but they do take several charges to build up full capacity.
