The 10 inch Makita Slider is often rated as best, however it is never rated best by those who use there tools everyday on the job site. In the real world, after many hours of use the Bosch is simply the best. It is acurate to within a fraction of a degree and stays that way forever. Being a professional carpenter I can say that every (A bit of a anicdotal evidence here) Makita ends up with a sticky lift spring and works loose after a year of hard use. The Bosch does not. It may not have duel bevel or soft start, but for the lower price, the quality, acuracy, and durability is amazing. Spend more and get less with other brands. Dollar for Dollar, you will not find a better 10 inch slider.
You won't beat this deal!

I must admit I was worried about purchasing this saw, because it seemed to cheap (price) compared to comparable Dewalt, Porter Cable, makita saws. However, bosch makes great equipment, and they came through with this one as well.
br /
br /After setting this up and testing it, I have to give it 5 stars simply because the price is unbelievable, and the saw performs flawlessly. There are a few minor things I would change if I could, but they are minimal and not very important, only matters of design, convenience, etc. see below.
br /
br /One negative reviewer stated that the detents weren't adjustable, and couldn't believe Bosch would build a saw without adjustments. This is incorrect. In order to adjust the angles on a miter saw, you need to change the relative position of the detents to the fence. On some saws, like the Porter cable, you can move the detents. On others, such as this, you move the fence. (The detents are cast in position and can't be moved). My saw wasn't correct out of the box, so I followed the instructions and loosed the fence and squared it to the blade with a combination square. However, this was difficult to do, and it still ended up slightly out of adjustment when tested on a board. My advice, which made it a piece of cake: Pick a 12" piece of wood with a perfectly straight edge (I used MDF), make a cut, check the square, adjust the fence and retighten, make another cut, and continue until you are dead on square at 90 degrees. This method wasted a little bit of wood, but I got it adjusted dead on accurate in about 5 minutes, and no fumbling around with a square against the blade.
br /
br /Once I got the 90 degree detent in position, I checked the others making 45 degree cuts in both directions on 6 inch material and the results were PERFECT. I mean dead on perfect. I can't imagine better miters.
br /
br /Another reviewer said there was play in the detents of 1 degree or so. If you put it in a detent and don't tighten the knob, there is some play, but only like 1/4 degree or so, and if you tighten the knob as you are supposed to, the play is taken up and the blade centers on the detent dead on in the middle, same place everytime I try it. If used correctly, there is no play.
br /
br /Other positive's:
br /-Comes with a quality 40 tooth blade. You don't have to buy a new blade to get good results with this saw. Most of the others come with a cheap blade that will cause tear out on your trim.
br /-Wrenches included for fence and blade, and mounted on the rear of the saw in convenient places. you'll never find yourself without the wrench you need.
br /-Adjustable slide on left end of saw gives you a little bit of extension in the table, about 4-5 inches.
br /-No upward kick with startup like my old delta saw, and what I hear from dewalt. I hated my old saw for that. I would line up the cut, and then when I hit start, the saw would kick and make my board jump, and I'd have to line it up again with the blade spinning. This saw doesn't do that, I'm happy to say.
br /
br /Negatives:
br /-Dust collection isn't very effective, but I've never seen a miter saw that is. Seems average to me.
br /-Handle is vertical position. I would prefer horizontal like the dewalt, but I don't think it's worth paying the extra money. Then again, I don't make miter cuts all day everyday.
br /-Blade guard is a little too cautious in my opinion, and not adjustable. Guard stays pretty low to the table, so when you are lining up the cut, you have to have your eyes nearly level with the board to see your mark. In other words, the guard obstructs your view if you are looking from above the saw at all. Easy fix is to mount the saw in a high position, as most people do with miters anyway. However, if you put the saw on the floor temporarily to do a few quick cuts, this can be a real pain.
br /
br /Overall, a lot of thought went into the design of this saw. It is well constructed, the quality you'd expect from bosch, and dead-on accurate. It does everything I would expect it to do and more, and at a price that I still can't believe. I had reservations before I bought it, but now I'm thrilled that I did. Thanks Bosch!
If this saw doesn't satisfy you, nothing will.

After a couple of years of watching prices, developments of the different manufacturers, features, ratings, and drooling over store displays, I finally decided to make a purchase. I had wrestled with the idea of a fixed versus a sliding saw type, but ultimately decided that a sliding compound miter saw would best serve my needs.I had pretty much leaning toward Hitachi, but was leery of the miter detent system. As I was again eyeballing the Hitachi and the Bosch, (which happened to be displayed side by side), a local builder recognized my dilemma and offered his two cents worth. He said he had both saws, (actually two Hitachis and one Bosch) and though the Hitachi was very rugged and reliable, he found that he and his crew gravitated to the Bosch when they needed a precision cut. When asked about the ruggedness of the Bosch, he had no complaints, but he hadn't owned it as long as the others. That confirmed my own conclusion regarding the superiority of the Bosch miter detent system, and swung my decision in favor of the Bosch 3915.The saw set up easily, is easily adjusted, and cuts like a dream. I have yet to connect it to a dust collection system, but find the collection bag to work reasonably well. The miter detent and locking system is positive and positively marvelous. It really instills confidence that settings and cuts will be accurate and repeatable. The detent system is also easily disengaged when the need arises. The braking system works well.....but the clamp cannot be beat. (I have ordered a second clamp and recommend that anyone buying this saw buy a second clamp, it's that handy.) The depth of cut adjustment feature could be better, but in two years I have only used this feature once!In my considered opinion, the Bosch 3915 is well worth the money. I expect it to keep a prominent place in my workshop for many years.

I've been a professional highend custom builder for 17 years in which time I've bought several miter saws. There's three things I look for in a good miter saw. Consistancy, accuracy value. The Bosch 10" sliding compound miter saw is a top contender in all categories. The only draw back is it's ability to only bevel in one direction. If this is a must have feature then step up to the new Bosch 10" slider for a few more bucks.
You CANNOT go wrong with this beautiful machine

There are lots of reviews for this tool. This was my second Bosch purchase (the first was a random orbital sander that I also adore). The level of quality has been superb on both items.
br /
br /I love the ergonomics of the device. Everything is where you expect it to be, and everything feels incredibly solid as you make your adjustments, lock them down, set your workpiece in, and especially when you are making your cut. There is NO PLAY in the sliding mechanism, nor is there in the miter adjustment or in the bevel adjustment.
br /
br /It's a very heavy tool, but it needs to be to have the solid feel that it has. I purchased a mobile miter saw base, mounted it to that, and I highly recommend you do the same. (See my review on the mobile base, a Delta 50-155). You do NOT want to be lugging this thing out all the time because of the weight.
br /
br /The only complaint is the really lousy dust collection. However I see this tool as being most useful in its mobile state, so whenever I use it I set it up outside anyhow. I am not aware of any sliding compound miter saw that has an effective dust collector, but even if there were one, you could not get me to trade mine out for one!
br /
br /Another pointer - definitely get an extra Bosch clamp or two. They are not very expensive, are very well made, and make your job much easier, especially if you are working on your own.
br /
br /I understand that there is now a Bosch that bevels both directions. If you decide that it's important to you to be able to bevel both left and right, I'm sure you would be happy with this choice also, but I have never found it to be complicated to work with only the right bevel capability on this saw. It's simple math.
br /
br /Bottom line, I cannot imagine a higher quality work tool and I know you will be happy with this choice. I would go further and say that my experience with Bosch would lead me to look at Bosch first for any corded power tool. (For cordless, see my reviews on Porter-Cable, which I also highly recommend.)

I purchased my Bosch saw last year. Since, I have used it to build a 450 foot cedar fence, dog ear 900 cedar boards, install 900 square feet of wood flooring, and install crown moulding in three rooms.
br /
br /The short of it is: I love this saw! It is accurate, powerful, and versatile. The blade is nearly finish work quality (60T) but tough enough for rough framing. The miter detents are beyond the competetion's standard 45R or 45L. The work top is larger than most.
br /
br /As with any tool, you will find characteristics that need improvement. The Bosch is no different. The motor is mounted to the side near the arbor. This gets in the way of the work clamp assessory. Bosch's next generation 10inch has it mounted on top. The bevel feature is a single direction.
br /
br /If you are looking for a SCMS, this is the one. Best of all, the price is right.
br /
br /... and for the record, I have never known a miter saw's dust collector to work well enough to write home about, regardless of manufacturer.

I recently purchased the Bosch 3915 10" Slide Compound Miter Saw and couldn't be more pleased with its performance. While it comes with a very good general purpose blade, I replaced the OEM one with a top-of-the-line Forrest "Chopmaster" 80 tooth configuration to ensure a flawless cut. The saw is used for cutting home-made moldings which I turn into custom made picture frames. Construction is rock solid...set up and fine tuning is simple (just follow the instructions)...and cutting wood is a breeze.

I bought this saw to be attached to the Delta Universal Stand and on that stand it is a very substantial rig. The saw came out of the box only needing a slight adjustment for bevel.pAs some have already said, saws cut therefore create dust, and this saw is no different than any of those so don't expect it to be. pThis is a very smooth running, accurate power tool, though one or two changes would make it better:br1)Horizontal handle - I had an old cheap delta saw that had it and it's a GREAT feature.br2)Include the out feed supports. I'm tired of manufacturers selling just the basic tool and then selling all the accessories to make the tool fully functional separately. pI gave it 4 stars only because 4 3/4 wasn't an option and I think 5 stars is reserved for an item with no criticism.pHighly recommend

I've had my 3915 for a few months now, and I cannot fault the saw in any way. Some folks ding the dust collection, but saws create dust, so I just crank up my Craftsman leaf blower and blow the dust away. Nice way to clean up the saw before putting it away too. I bought my saw for sawing Pergo flooring--to do my whole house. For those who don't know what Pergo is, it's a formica type laminate bonded to something 1/4" masonite with a 1/16" foam backing. Tough stuff. The blade that comes with the saw is super. When I lower the blade to the Pergo laminate, I can see some small sparks, but the blade or motor never hesitates and saws right through. The 3915 is a great saw and I would buy it again in a heartbeat, especially considering the price of similar saws. One niggle: I like a horizontal handle--it's just more ergonomic, but you quickly get used to the Bosch handle. If you buy a Bosch 3915, you'd better be ready to go to work, because the saw is ready for you! I love mine. Mike

Ok, so before I purchased this I never did any miter cuts of quality, but this unit makes this weekend warrior look like a professional. Wainscoated a bathroom with 30 feet of wall run, with 6 inch v grooved board (4 ft tall, one board at a time. Mitered all coners....everyone came by and said it looked professional...AND IT DOES. Unit is worth every penny. I researched which unit to get and for my money, you need not spend anymore than what this one costs. I would give it 5 stars if it had a laser...but I would not spend another hundred dollars for a laser. Unit came out of the box right to spec. Although I checked for adjustments, none were needed. If you can find a better one for this price ... Buy it!

I purchased the Bosch 3915 several months ago. It sat unpacked for a couple of months before I was able to get around to using it. My experience with it thus far has been less than stellar, contrary to most of the other reviews in this forum. My particular saw will NOT cut square - I've tried adjusting the fence and the bevel zero stop but cannot get the blade square to the table or fence for the full length of stroke. The blade twists right to left just slightly as it travels through its stroke (slide). This indicates to me that there may be a misalignment problem with the slide rails, something that cannot be adjusted by the user. Not only that, the fence casting is crooked - you can lay a straight edge on the table against the fence and there is a small gap on the left side. I've contacted Bosch about this but have not heard back from them yet. Since the saw isn't cutting square, you can imagine what sort of problems that presents when trying to do finish work such as mitering crown molding. I looked at several other saws in addition to the Bosch and selected the Bosch mainly on the strength of its user reviews and the electric brake feature. At this point, I'm disappointed with the overall performance. Don't get me wrong, I do like the saw but for the money I paid, it should at least cut square. I'm hopeful that Bosch will have some suggestions for me about how to get the saw either adjusted properly or repaired so that it will cut like it should. Otherwise, I'll probably talk to Amazon about returning the saw and exchanging it for something else. It looks as though I may have gotten a "lemon".

I have had this saw for 6 months now. I use it often and well it is a nice saw for the price. I think there are other saws out there that have more bells an whistles than this one. Having a horizontial tigger like the Dewalt would be nice, kind of cumbersome with the saftey trigger on the left. My biggest complaint is the saw blade. After only using it for 1 month I noticed burning, tearout, and bogging down on the motor. I changed the blade with a freud ultimate cutoff and what a differnce a blade makes!! Slices wood (walnut, maple, redwood, and mahagony) very clean and precise. I have read that the Makita has a nice blade included with their model and the Hitachi with the LAZER sounds cool ($500.00) but this saw was good for the price. The dust collection is middle of the road ,but to be fair I have not seen many that work that well. It did come with a hold down clamp that works ok. The base is kind of large too...luckly I was able to land a Werkart cart that fit it perfectly and all and all Ive turned it into quite the compound miter saw.
A good saw for the price.

I looked at them all and went with this saw. If you are left handed....look for something else. The trigger is strickly for us righties.....The blade is a 60 tooth which means you have to go buy an 80 tooth if you want a tear free cut for moulding and the such....wish they had mentioned that. It is a solid saw though at a good price. I worry about the automatic blade brake as it is one more thing to break over time. I would have given it 5 stars, but they didn't ship a screw to hold the board clamp to the saw. This tells me their quality control may not be the hottest, but the price isn't that bad so it's a trade off. I would make sure that everything is held down properly prior to turning it on though. If they forget to include a part it just makes me look to make sure everything is ok safety wise. I put on the dust collection bag....why I don't know it still blows sawdust everywhere, but I guess they all do that. This is still the best saw for the money on the market. From date of order it was 7 days to my door with the Amazon free shipping.

I just purchased this saw and right out of the box I checked all the settings. After zeroing the fence to the blade I checked the accuracy of the miter 45's. 1'st I discovered that the 45 detents were off (and not adjustable) Bosch provides a detent override for this purpose. After disabling the detents, I discovered that the Miter scale is not accurate either. The scale is a cast in feature (not machined or adjustable)
br /
br /The good news is that the saw runs good, cuts good and is very accurate and repeatable at the zero degree mark.

I was in the market for a miter saw for a whole-house crown molding project. I spent a few weeks going to local stores as well as reading online reviews. I settled on the 3915 from Amazon.com and have been very pleased with my decision. Below are some key findings:
br /
br /1) A quality built tool with thoughtful design. You'll read some complaints on the dust collection bag but I find that it works about as well as most out there. If you're really concerned with dust, hooking up a shop-vac should do the trick.
br /
br /2) Value!! This is a 10" slider for the price of most chop-only saws. The single bevel can sometimes mean a bit more effort but I simply couldn't justify paying nearly 50% more for a dual-bevel sliding Bosch or Makita. And the 10" slide handles wider pieces of wood than its 12" chop-only counterparts.
br /
br /3) The only weakness I found was the bevel angle markings. The tool was true from the factory but the markings are a bit hard to zero in on. That being said, I can't say that I had any angle issues with my finished pieces but it just takes a little getting used to setting it.
br /
br /All in all, I would challenge anyone to find a better value in a sliding compound miter saw.

I bought this saw from Amazon about a year ago, and have been extremely pleased with it on a variety of projects. Last week I loaned it out to build a huge playground at my daughter's school. It powered through 5 days of heavy use, making literally thousands of cuts on pressure treated lumber, from 2x4's through 2x10's. Everyone who used it loved it, and I mean everyone, from lady volunteers who had never used a saw in their life to a master carpenter, and every skill level in between. It starts up smooth as silk, slides with ease, and powers through the cuts. The had a few other miter saws around for chopping 2x4's, and the Bosch looked like a man among boys next to them. You'll be surprised at how big and sturdy it is.pConsidering the quality for the money, I'd say this was one of the best purchases I've ever made.

THe Bosch 3915 is a great addition to my power tool collection. I was impressed with it's ability to cut 2x8's and 10's as well as fine trim. The rails have little play and can give you very accurate angle cuts in both miter and bevel positions cut after cut.The only thing that could be improved is the dust bag chute. IT clogs very easily when cutting undried (framing) lumber.

Being a rank beginner to woodworking but not to power tools, I purchased this miter saw as a starting point to my woodworking hobby. I needed it to construct the window seat frame in our new log home. After 10 cuts on 2x4's, the switch shorted out on the saw. I contacted Bosch and found a tool supply store who could do the warranty work - simply replacing the defective switch. After 4 weeks, they finally received the switch from Bosch and I was back in business. They stopped carrying Bosch tools because of the delays in getting parts and orders from Bosch. If I had ordered a Makita or Hitachi saw, I would have been repaired in less than a week. I'm glad I bought the saw but it was a toss-up between the other 2 and $$$ was a factor.brBeware of repairs for your Bosch tools - be prepared for a long wait for parts.

I received the Bosch 3915 today, and of course had to test it out. First of all, I was impressed with the overall quality of the saw and was very impressed by its weight. It's heavy, and I have yet to find a really easy way to pick it up and move it around. I'm assuming that it's meant to be mounted on a bench or stand, as opposed to being moved around from place to place. I was also impressed with the manual, since it seems to be written in English and for the most part explains things very clearly. Often, manuals that come with tools made in other countries suffer in their translation. I did experience one situation that was not explained well in the manual, however. I tried cutting a dado by using the depth stop feature, which in itself is easy to adjust. The problem I encountered in making a dado is this: When the piece of wood is placed on the table and pushed against the fence, the blade does not make a uniformly deep cut all the way through the piece because of the curvature of the blade. I assume that there are two solutions to this problem. One would be to turn the piece around and make the same cuts from the opposite side. Another wouuld be to put a second piece of wood against the fence and then put the piece in which you want the dado in front of that piece. Either of these methods is rather inconvenient, but maybe I'm missing something. If anyone has a solution, please let me know.
br /
br /Previous to using the saw, I checked all of the adjustments as explained in the manual and found that they all seemed to be set perfectly. I also cut several test pieces and checked them for squareness and various angles; they were all perfect. I haven't yet used the saw for crown moulding, so I can't comment on how well it does for that purpose. As far as the operation of the saw itself, I was generally satisfied. Since I have been using a miter saw that has a vertical handle most of my life I had no issue with the handle on this saw. I do realize, however, that some folks prefer a horizontal handle. The one feature I don't like is the placement of the power switch lock-off button that has to be depressed before the power switch can be pushed in. No matter how I contort my hand I can't find a comfortable way to depress both buttons at the same time. On my other miter saw, the lock-off button is perfectly placed so that both buttons can be easily depressed at the same time.
br /
br /Lastly, I have to agree with other reviewers about the uselessness of the dust bag. I tried turning it it every direction possible, but nothing helped. It doesn't collect much dust regardless if I make chop cuts or sliding cuts. And, yes, I do slide the blade from front to back as explained in the manual. So, overall, I would give the saw 4 1/2 stars, but since that's not possible I gave it the four stars because of the lock-off switch, the dust bag, and the dado situation.

The saw is increadibly accurite and easy to use. It's one of those tools that just feels like quality when you use it. The blade that came with it is pretty good but a good thick kerf 80tooth is better and I reccomend anyone looking for high accuracy to go with a better blade. My complaints: part of what makes it feel so nice to use is it's weight.. It's a heavy saw, and if you just use it in your shop, GREAT! But taking it to a jobsite can be difficult when you add it's heft to the fact that there is no carrying handle. Another thing is that my hands are somwhat small and the bosch's handle feels uncomftrably large, some people will appriciate the size, but too big for me. All things considered, A great saw if it stays in one place but if you are a contractor and need to move it alot, consider the hitatchi.

After using this saw for 3 1/2 years I definetly have mixed feelings. the split fence on the left was not in line with the right side and in one piece with no easy fix, a constant nagging problem. But it had a good motor, and adjustability was acceptable. If you notice all my referances are in the past tense, because as of this afternoon the thing is laying in two pieces in my work van. The casting broke at the turntable. I take great care of my tools, I buy the best and expect them to work very well for a long time as have the many other Bosch tools I own. I will not buy another Bosch chop saw unless they give a pro rated discount on a new one. This saw should not have broken so easily. If you work out of a van or truck, like every other carpenter on this planet does, I can't recomend this saw, it can't stand up to normal handling. If you want absolute accuracy from the fence don't buy this saw it may be hard to fix the split fence. I hope others who have this saw have better luck than me.

I'm told this saw has been discontinued. I saw Bosch's new 4410 at a woodworking show and it's one really nice saw, with more features than this (notably the handle, which swivels to wherever your hand feels more comfortable) and it's rumored to have better dust collection. It's also well over five hundred bucks. This one cost me $354 and I'm very happy with it, thank you very much. Yes, even with a shop vac hooked up, it throws sawdust. I'll build a hood. Yes, it only bevels one way. I can flip the board. It's got a nice, solid precision feel to it and it makes sharp clean cuts. It was calibrated right out of the box. It's great for cutting long stock, makes perfect 45's, and it'll slice through a 4x4 and a 2x10. That's what I need. Maybe someday I'll upgrade but this saw is going to serve me just fine for years.

I agree with all the reviews about this saw being sturdy and precise out of the box. With Amazon's price and deal it certainly is a great value compare to other sliding miter saws.pThe biggest disappointment that I have is the very poor dust collection system. I had my saw hook up to a powerful dust collection system (not just a shopvac), but just after a few simple cuts, there are saw dust everywhere! It threw dust around a 4 feet radius around the base! Maybe I am used to good dust collection system from a table saw and jointer, but I did not expect it to be this bad. Maybe this is a common problem for all miter saws and it is acceptable for a job site or an outdoor project, but if you plan to use this saw in a basement woodshop, prepare for a lot of cleaning afterward!!brThis is too bad because I would use this saw a lot more if it has a better dust collection system.

I have a wide selection of power tools and I must say that this has been my best purchase so far. This saw is solidly constructed and was perfectly aligned right out of the box. The blade that comes with this saw does an incredible job. I could not find another sliding compound miter saw out there for this price and I was still able to get the Bosch quality. I will be looking for more Bosch products in the future.

I am a professional cabinet builder, bought this saw in Sept. 2002, and have had trouble with the switch going out. The motor is no longer as powerful as it used to be either. I have bought a Makita now to try out for a few years and am selling this one while it still has a little life. I don't believe this saw is made for commercial work. Note, I have NOT abused this saw, it just has had a lot of use day in and day out.

I have used my new saw a few times now and really like the saw. As stated in many of the other reviews, the dust collection system is horrible. I even removed the dust bag and attached a vacuum and still had saw dust all over. I purchased the extensions and a spare clamp with my saw. The spare clamp is not as nice as the one that comes with the saw. The blade that comes with the saw is a quality blade and the overall machine feels and looks sturdy. Bosch put a lot of time and thought into this machine.brGreat saw at a great price!

I have used this saw to put up intricate crown molding and to build a large outdoor playset. Cuts are very accurate and precise!!! And since it is a slide it can cut much larger pieces of wood than a non-sliding miter saw. Highly recommend!!!!

I have had my Bosch 3915 sliding compound saw for over four years and it has served me well in all applications. At the time I purchased it, laser cutting guide lights were not all that common on saws in this price range. Since then I added an after market "Infiniter" RS-1 laser cutting guide from Rockler ($20.00) and I now feel that the Bosch 3915 competes with the best of them. The factory provided 60 tooth blade gives clean cuts with no tear out. It also came with a 40 tooth blade as well. Though its bulk and weight can stand on its own, I have it screw mounted into a recessed work table for added stability and convenience.
br /This is truly a quality product.

I am a cabinet and trim installer and have used this saw alot you can't ask for much better than this saw. Powerfull easy to use cuts miters lying flat at 31.6 degree sets on both compound and miter cuts, gives you the perfect miter cut each time. No more having to bed your material, just lay it down flat and cut the marks. Cuts a good twelve inches and has a usefull hold down clamp. Again for the money you can't go wrong with this saw. The only thing I wish this saw had would be a double compound option but this unit only tilts left where some other models for a few dollars more tilt both ways, but really not a big deal to me.

I am very pleased with the limited use so far. I purchased a RIDID MS-UV utility vehicle to mount the saw on and the combination is superb for mobility. I am looking forward to installing engineered hardwood flooring and using the saw for the project.

No complaints what so ever. I guess I am fortunate because my dust bag fills up. Sure there is some dust but I'm cutting wood with it so go figure. I haven't hooked my shop vac to it yet but I'm sure that will result in even less dust. Cut a perfect 45 on a full 12 in. board right out of the box. A friend that owns a Hitachi 81/4 is going to buy this instead of the Hitachi 10 in. Buy this saw.

I've been using this saw since 1995. I have been a carpenter and woodworker for 24 years now and primarily interior trim and cabinetry for 17 of those years. I have used this saw for framing and exterior trim and it did well at each task. I like it because of it's simplicity..not a lot of gadgets and moving parts to fail. I just purchased another one of these saws to stay in my shop so i won't have to haul the other one off the job everytime i need it. I looked at a few other brands and have used other brands...and I always come back to this saw. I love it. I'm the first to admit..it is not perfect. No saw is..It has the power to do everything i ask of it and it does it well. I have never found a saw that makes perfect cuts anyway..in my world there are no perfect corners or angles to work with...so it's about being able to make a perfect fit..no saw will make the fit for you. This saw will cut some sweet joints if you have in you to fit it..Get a blade..enough about the factory blades..buy a blade for any saw you purchase..a QUALITY blade!
br /Bottom line..GREAT SAW..That's my 2 cents

Bosch has always been on my top ten list of manufacturers to buy. I needed a sliding compound miter real bad and didn't want to pay the standard $400-750 for one. I've looked at and used many of the brands that are currently on the market. Bosch's 10" slider is comfortable to use and isn't as heavy as I thought it would be. It is exceptionally quiet and the sliding motion is very smooth. All of the adjustments are relativly easy to make. The saw is ergonomic and affortable.

I picked up a Delta 10" CMS some time ago...a nice saw but limited in capacity. I have longed for an SCMS and after doing extensive research it came down to the Makita or this saw. Amazon had a 3 day special on this saw (just think a third off the price with free shipping) and I could not pass that up.
br /
br /The saw arrived in excellent condition.
br /
br /PROS:
br /1) slide mechanism is great
br /2) saw is powerful but quiet...quieter than my old less-powerful Delta
br /3) Saw is accurate and makes good cuts
br /4) Stops are nice and easy to read.
br /5) Blade is nice...
br /6) Accessories included are good (dust-bag and clamp). This is a bigger plus since some other manfacturers make these optional
br /
br /CONS:
br /1) The handle is not bad but I miss the D-Handle on my old Delta
br /2) I have yet to find a way to adjust the saw if the stops are off. I'm sure I'm just missing something...
br /3) As with almost all CMS's, the dust collection is a bit lacking. I have heard the Makita is great, but I'm skeptical.
br /
br /Even with the small issues with this saw, it's 5 stars from me. I'm VERY satisfied...

It's great for slicing wood (walnut, maple, redwood, and mahagony) very clean and precise. It can slice just about anything.I have read that the Makita has a nice blade included with their model and the Hitachi with the LAZER sounds cool ($500.00) but this saw was excellent for the price.

I had this saw for 5 years now and I am somewhat satisfied with it. I cuts very smoothly and I I love the indents and the wide cutting range of the saw. That said, the dust bag doesn't really work which everyone knows. But the thing that really bothered me was the guard. It uses a ballbearing/cam mechanism in a awkward way and if you use the saw alot, the screw which hold the ballbearing strips out. I had brought it in for repairs once but it didn't last. I had to alter the guard mechanism to get it to work properly. If I had my money back, I would buy a makita 12" sliding compound. (I used and love that saw)

You won't go wrong buying this saw. It's "best of breed". The only complaint I have is that the OEM packaging wasn't designed for UPS handling. The original packaging might be adequate for stacking 10 of these on a pallet and shipping LTL to the Amazon warehouse but the packaging isn't sturdy enough for UPS "care". I didn't notice the handle on my saw was broken until well after delivery. Since I could buy the new part for $50, I replaced it without whining to Amazon or UPS. Like whining would have done any good anyway. Unfortunately, on disassembly another piece had to be replaced and the total repair was now $75. Inspect yours carefully for damage on receiving it.

Personally, I think woodworkers around the country should trade in their power tools for credit and replace them all with Bosch.
br /I started using bosch tools over 12 years ago in a furniture shop, and my first experience with their tools was a jigsaw, which apparently has since reached legendary status.
br /This particular jigsaw was thoroughly abused every day for years. We'd burn through all the sears brand stuff, replacing them every few months, but the Bosch tools only needed the occasional cleaning and replacement blade.
br /I saw first hand the kind of torture Bosch tools could withstand and have been a devoted fan ever since.
br /In addtionl to the durabiltiy inherent in nearly ALL their tools, i've also found them to be highly ACCURATE, which is absolutely required when crafting furniture.
br /This particular tool carries on the long tradition of high quality, tough, accurate and well designed tools from bosch.
br /I'd give their tools 6 stars if i could.

I had the chance to use this saw a couple of times before I bought one. After ordering from Amazon, the saw arrived in less than a week. No adjustments to the saw were necessary, perfect right out of the box. Everything from the dead flat table to the smooth sliding cutting have been great. Smooth, quiet motor on this saw. On the subject of dust, I have found that using the dust bag in chop mode with the rails locked is worthless. Don't even bother hooking it up. But if you are in slide mode, use the dust bag for it collects roughly 80% of the saw dust. Also, replace the stock blade with a good Forrest or Freud, it makes the Bosch that much better. The only feature I wished was included is dual bevel capacity. I wanted the Makita LS 1212 (great saw), but it costs twice as much.

This Bosch Slider is an absolute delight to work with. I used to have a craftsman miter saw and this one is so superior it makes the craftsman tool look like a toy. The supplied blade is smooth and precise. The overal product is very well executed and the performance is solid. Everything is perfectly aligned and the miter angles are as accurate as you can get. This tool is a real pleasure to work with and way cheaper than the equivalent Makita or Hitachi models. A real winner in my eyes.

I received my Bosch 39-15 yesterday and putit immediately to work. I am re-doing a basement room and had to cut many boards for trim. Out of the box it was in perfect alignment. Quickly read the instructions and off I was. I didn't experience a problem with dust any more than my chop saw by Dewalt. It is very smooth. The unit has a very smooth glide and moving the saw head to make the cut is effortless. It took me months to decide which unit to buy. This was the must sturdy unit I evaluated and it's ease of use helped me make my decision. Amazon had the lowest price. Ordering on line was great. So simple and fast. It was delivered in five days. If you want to save a lot of money, buy this unit. There isn't a saw that can compare to the quality of build on this saw.

I used this saw to put a floor down. Not bad, in fact pretty good quality. Doesn't do as much as the Dewalt and the thumb safety can be a small pain. But overall a good piece of machinery. Althogh I prefer the Dewalt, this saw doesn't have the initial kick upward when you turn it on.

Having my own business I have to use quality tools. So when it was time to upgrade I went with the Bosch 3915 slider,Bosch 4007 tablesaw and the Porter Cable compresser/nailer combo. I couldn't be happier with my choices. Amazon is the place to buy your tools but I have nothing good to say about how U.P.S. treats shipments. I watch as he dropped my saw from the truck to the ground.

Half the price of a Dewalt 12", did not need that big of saw. Came with a clamp, did not have to pay extra, all dustbags are pretty much useless, I've always got sawdust when I cut a piece of lumber, hmmm. Top value as far as I'm concerned.
