I bought this knowing if it was beat up I could send it back - I was pleasantly surprised that the saw was brand new - so was the case, and charger. The XRP battery HAD been refurbed - compared to a shiny new one, it had a dull bead blasted finish to remove scratches. The battery was OK, but it was an older model, not comparable to the present day XRP batteries.

br /I have a corded dewalt recip saw and bought this because it was one tool missing from my 14.4 volt set. For $90 it was a great deal. Also my old wired saw used an allen head wrench to hold the blade - this model uses a very convenient side clamp that you flip up, pull out the blade, put in the new one, and flip down with the same grip as their old design. Changing blades has never been easier. That combined with the cordless convenience makes this a great deal, especially considering the saw, case, charger, manual, and box are all factory new. It looks like they just have some refurbed batteries to get rid of. I looked hard but found no signs of use ANYWHERE on the tool or case, which makes the price a bargain.
