Description:

The Porter-Cable 9746 Tiger Reciprocating Saw takes advantage of an extra-heavy-duty 10.5 Amp motor to make cuts through heavy stock with ease, and its Quik-Change blade clamp allows for keyless blade changes within the blink of an eye. Get complete control of the 9746 thanks to its electronic variable speed design which maintains a consistent speed between 0 and 2,600 SPM even under heavy loads. Speaking of heavy loads, this reciprocating saw can handle them. Its full 1-1/8 inch cutting stroke is longer than other saws which makes it easier to cut heavy stock and get it done quicker as well. When you're done using your 9747 Tiger saw, keep it stowed away neatly in its included carrying case.

I have used this saw for the last 6 months. Forget all the fancy features like angle heads or rotating handles. This is the most aggressive wood cutting saw of all. Power and more power along with a super orbital cutting action. All the framers I work with are impressed with the speed of cutting. The blade changing system couldn't be easier. You can put the blades in upside down for tight spots. If this can't cut it down it will shake it down.

This is the first sawzall I have owned so I really can't make a comparison with any of the others. This Porter Cable saw gets the job done in a flash. It is a very powerful saw and will tear through anything. The only downside that I have that I didn't know about when I bought it was that it's NOT Made in the USA, it's actually Made in Mexico. I thought Porter Cable was known for Made in USA tools but I guess they moved shop just like the rest except Milwaukee, which I found out afterwards. It appears Milwaukee is one of the only manufactures of tools that makes tools in the USA anymore. Either way, the Porter Cable saw is hands down a great saw.

The best sawzall I have ever used..I've owned this saw since 1996, never had a problem, other than the powercord had to be replaced..It outcuts all the competion, and I highly recomend it to any tradesman, or DYI.

Good power and construction. Not as smooth as the Milwaukee Super Sawzall or as fine of a speed adjustments. However, the trigger feels better than the Super Sawzall, which is too small and exerts too much pressure on the finger. My main problem is with the shoe adjustment, the lever is too loose, rotates to the open position and the shoe falls out every time I use the Tiger. I need to wrap duct tape around the shoe lever.

I have had this saw (older model) for over 10 years now and i never regreted buying it. I am a finish carpenter and i don't use this everday but for once a week i need it - it has always been there and never let me down. i needed to buy another one for my other crew and didn't hesitate buy this newer model.
