Like the reviewer below, I, too was surprised when I received a saw marked 36-670. I, too, called Delta and they explained that 36-680 is a package consisting of the 30 inch Delta T-Fence and the 36-670 saw. I'm not really all that concerned with reselling it - by the time I'm ready to step up to something bigger, this is going to be a pretty old saw.
br /
br /Now, about the saw itself. First of all, I have not had any problems with it. It assembled easily (although the frigging thing weighs almost 300 lbs, so don't plan to be able to put it together all by yourself). The wings are adjustable, so it does take some doing to get it lined up just right, but I had no problems. I have been using it for a couple of weeks now and have made all kinds of cuts including some 45 degree angle cuts. No problems whatsoever. The saw does not bind or anything.
br /
br /One thing that I will agree with the other reviewer, though - for the price, Delta should include a dust bin, but you can get one from Amazon for $27. It is Delta model 50-354. One other thing - if you plan to buy the Delta Mobile Base (which you should as it makes the saw easy to move), don't get 50-277 like I did. It won't fit this saw. Call Delta for the correct model.
br /
br /This is a great saw, and I am really glad I spent the extra money and got the cast iron wings. Steel wings just would not have the stability. You won't go wrong with this one.

Good saw at a good price

I compared a lot of saws like the 680. Sure the 681 and 682 have nicer fences. But the T-square fence system is no slouch. The entire saw was accurate right out of the box. But beware, this saw is heavy. Purchase a mobile base, your back will thank you. Also trying to slide the saw around will put it out of alignment. After a week of sliding the saw around, the fence was now off by a 1/16 of an inch. The table top is all cast iron including the wings. This helps stabilize the saw immensely. The table top is nicer than the 681 and 682, which is not all cast iron. The only reason I gave the saw 4 stars rather than 5 is because the steel washer that holds the blade to the arbor bent very easily, and now it's a real pain to try and change blades.
br /Don't listen to other reviews about the saw being a 36-670, it is, the fence package with this saw is what makes it a 36-680. Anyone who does research on these tables saws will find that out. If your in the market for a very nice contractor's saw, (next best thing to a cabinet saw) this is a great purchase. I do not, and will not regret my purchase.

This looks like it will be a great saw, I certainly did a great deal of research before buying it. The following are some hints for set-up which I wish I had known.
br /1) The flat head screws used to attach the switch will be in the box with the fence fence rails.
br /2) Have a large hex wrench, the supplied hex wrenches were not the correct size.
br /3) The belt attaches to the blade arbor by tilting the blade to 45 degrees.
br /
br /Also, the fence guard does not really hook-up out of the way unless the blade insert is removed.
br /Do expect to rezero the fence, and check square on all items. They were close, but not on target.

Like many others, I extensively researched the $500 to $800 table saw market before making this purchase... Almost purchased a grizzly, then a jet, finally came back to this saw, and I couldn't be happier. I spoke with various retailers, and apparently this is a saw being made in a new factory. I was impressed with the quality when assembling; no rough edges, parts all well powder coated-front and back, etc. I'll agree with the review of a poorly constructed blade cover - however like many woodworkers, that came off the day I got it. I also upgraded to a Zero Clearance Insert. The only problem I experience was when I bent the stamped arbor nut - it took a while to get it off. I replaced it with a beefier Delta nut and have not had a problem since. Other than that, this saw is a serious workhorse out of the box. Table top set screw access is genius. The fence is amazing - smoothing moving, deadly accurate, extremely stable and can be adjusted in every possible manor. This saw is super stable due to the extra weight of the wings. Per the rusting comment - any unprotected cast iron surface will rust - quickly too if it's humid. I use a carnauba wax (NO SILICON!!) and have never had a problem with any of my cast iron tools. Highly recommend this saw.

My compromise saw...

I was intending to get a Delta Unisaw, and own the last saw I'd ever need, but my budget tightened at the last minute, and I elected to go with this one. I have to say, I was very happily surprised. The cast-iron top is the same size as the Unisaw, and will take the same accessories, including the option to upgrade to the 50" Beisemyer fence later on if I want to (though the T2 fence is very good, and was accurate right out of the box)
br /
br /The pros:
br /-Cast iron trunnions (not quite as bulky as a cabinet saw, but not flimsy by any means)
br /-Easy adjustments for every part of the saw.
br /-Quiet, quiet operation (I wired mine for 240v, 120v may be a little noisier)
br /-Very nice fence- not the best, but I use a Unisaw with a Beisemeyer fence at work, and I really can't tell the difference.
br /-Heavy enough to feel solid, but light enough to move around
br /-Solid, accurate miter gauge
br /-Plenty of power for sawing 8/4 hard maple with a good Freud blade.
br /-Feels like a Unisaw, only about $700 less expensive
br /
br /The cons:
br /-Belt should be disconnected when not in use to prevent jerky operation if you don't use it every day, but at least it's not too hard to do.
br /-Powder-coating on the stand was inconsistant, with a couple of large light spots that will need touch-up eventually.
br /-240v wiring diagram for the motor requires a bit of digging around to find and read (It's under the cap with the breaker in it, and you have to take the breaker completely out to read it)
br /-A short jump when the saw starts, but it runs smoothly after that.
br /-No place to store the miter guage or blade wrenches on the case
br /-Odd-sized nuts and hex keys are needed for assenbly and adjustment, but don't come with it. (make sure you have an 18mm open-ended wrench for the extension wings- all three of my sets jump from 17 to 19, and a 3mm hex key [Delta includes a number of hex keys that I didn't use for anything, but not the one I needed to adjust the height of the insert...?]
br /-Bolt kit for the fence was for a model with steel wings, not the cast iron ones that come with this saw, making the fence assembly a little different than it should be, it was also missing one bolt entirely.
br /
br /Overall, it's a heck of a nice saw, and you really can't beat the price. I was seriously considering Grizzly, but after checking this one out in the store, it's hard to imagine a better product in this price range, and the money I saved on shipping made this a much more attractive proposition. I'd definately buy this one again- sure, it doesn't get you the bragging rights of a 5hp Unisaw, but do you really *need* that?

I've used this saw daily for over 3 years and it has never let me down. Compared side-by-side with a Unisaw in my shop, I really have no preference between the saws other than better dust collection on Unisaw. Both perform flawlessly with easily repeatable, accurate cuts.
br /
br /I have the 240V model with a 50" table extension, the Unifence, and a mobile base. Very workable and reasonably priced setup.
br /
br /Please ignor people that critize saw for errors in shipping, faulty setup on their part, or issues with Delta that have nothing to do with saw in question.

The saw has all the makings if precision cutting system - heavy duty construction, strong motor, precise arbor, and solid fence. The stock blade is average so the saw benefits from a high quality blade. It's very well built and should last a lifetime. It'll also accept many stock aftermarket jigs and accessories. A good miter gauge or crosscut sled is a must, as are zero clearance inserts. Dust collection needs the same help as most contractor saws. I much prefer the steel T2 fence to many of the cheaper aluminum fences on the competitors. The solid cast wings are a great "nice to have" feature too.

This saw is Delta's newest Saw. Almost bought the Grizzly with shipping would have been the same price. Glad I bought this saw. Easy to put togeather instructions are very clear. About 3 hours. Everything true right out of the box. This is a-lot of saw for the money. Other companies should follow Delta's lead and make a saw like this for this price

I love this table saw. It's very quiet compared to my old (and I mean old..I think it came over on the Mayflower) one and it cuts like butter.
br /
br /Three gripes I have, which is why I did not give this saw 5 stars is:
br /1) The blade guard is a pain in the rear! The guard was VERY POORLY designed as it will not stay up if you have the blade insert on the machine. It makes it very difficult to check measurements from the blade to the fence before making a cut and also difficult to change the blade insert. If I take the insert out to change the blade the guard keeps falling down because I have to slide the blade wrench inside the guard to get a proper grip on the blade nut and any little nudge will bring the blade guard down on my hands.
br /
br /2) The table began rusting almost immediately after I wiped the oil off of it. There was alot of oil on it from the factory.
br /
br /3) The adjusting screw used to adjust the blade positioning arrow indicator was so tight I couldn't break it loose to make the adjustment. I ended up having to use masking tape and a felt tip marker to reposition the zero and 45 degree lines on the front of the saw behind the adjusting wheel.
br /
br /The one accessory I purchased that I just couldn't do without is the universal mobile base. I bought it here on Amazon for $54.99. It's the HTC HTC2000 Universal Mobile Base. It makes it so easy to move my table saw around my shop and it's very sturdy.

I can't really rate the saw, but I can rate Amazon's service. I purchased the saw well over a month ago, but Amazon only shipped me the saw and half of the fence. I received a fence, but no guide rails to mount it on.
br /It is impossible, it seems, to contact Amazon for assistance (try to find a phone number, or a contact for complaining about an order).
br /I'll never buy tools from Amazon again.

WELL I READ A LOT OF GOOD REVIEWS FOR DELTA. BOY WAS I SUPPRISED.WHEN THE SAW CAME THE BOX SAID 36-679 ON IT. AFTER MAKING THE DRIVER WAIT BEFORE HE TOOK IT OF THE TRUCK I CALLED DELTA AND FOUND OUT THERE IS NO 36-680 THATS JUST THE WHOLE PACKAGE FENCE AND SAW TOGETHER. MY SAW IS REALLY A 36-670.I CALLED DELTA AGAIN AND THEY TOLD ME SOME WENT OUT WITH THE OLD LABEL ON IT.THAT REALLY DOSENT HELP ME IF I EVER WANT TO SELL IT. ALSO IT WAS MISSING THE RIGHT SIDE WING.THE LEFT WING ISNT FLUSH WITH THE TABLE ITS 1MM HIGHER .NO DIRECTIONS FOR A 36-680 OR A 36-670 OR THE FENCE EITHER.THE BLADE GUARD SUCKS AND DOESNT LOCK YOU CANT CUT ON AN ANGLE WITH IT ON.WHEN I TRIED TO CUT ON A 30 DEG. ANGLE THE BLADE BINDS AND THE MOTOR STOPS WITH GUARD ON OR OFF OR THE WOOD CATCHES ON THE GUARD BRACKET/SPLITTER ( WHILE EVERTHING WAS LINED UP PERFECT).THE 1 1/2 HP MOTOR IS NOTHING SPECIAL AT BEST.THE MANUFACTOR DISCRIPTION SAIS IN THE BOX IS A INDUSTRIAL 36-680. THATS A LIE ITS A 36-670.ON DELTA'S SITE IT SAIS THIS IS A NEW SAW AND IT WILL RIP 30" OR 50" LESS TABLE ON THE PRINTER FRIENDLY SITE IT SAIS 30",50" WELL I FOUND OUT THE ONLY PARTS TO MAKE THIS RIP 50" YOU NEED TO ORDER A MODEL #U50 WICH ARE DISCONTIUED OR IF YOU CAN FIND IT FOR $300 OR MORE.PLUS AT LEAST 4 MONTHS AWAY BEFORE DELIVERY.THAT IS ALSO WHAT I HERD ABOUT ANY REPLACMENT PARTS FROM DELTA .THIS SAW IS JUST A BARE BONES SAW NO FRILS AT ALL NOT EVEN A DUST SHOOT.I MADE PLANS AND TOOK TWO WEEKS OF WORK AND STARTED A PROJECT ONLY TO FIND OUT THE SAW SUCKS PIECES MISSING AND NEEDS TO GO BACK. THAT RIUNED MY WHOLE TIME LINE AND I WASTED TIME OFF WORK AS WELL AS MONEY.FROM WHAT I CAN TELL DELTA IS BASICALLY USING THE SAME SAW WITH DIFFERANT WINGS AND THEN GIVING IT A DIFFERANT MODEL NUMBER ON THE BOX AND A REPLACEMENT LABLE ON AN OLD SAW CALLING IT NEW.THE ONLY GOOD LIE IS THE MOTOR SAIS IT SPINS 3450 RPM NOT 3000 LIKE THEY SAY AS LONG AS IT DOESNT BIND. DONT BUY THIS SAW THERE TO MANY OUT THERE WITH NO SCAMS AND BETTER SEVICE.I JUST LOOKED AT THE MAUAL AGAIN AND EVERY TIME I DO I FIND SOMETHING NOT RIGHT THE BIG FRONT LABEL ON THE SAW WITH THE DEGREE NUMBERS ISNT THE SAME AS WHAT IS SHOWN ON THE 36-680 ON THE FRONT COVER ITS THE SAME ONE ON THE 36-678 ON THE LAST PAGE . I CALLED DELTA ABOUT THE 36-670 LABEL ON MY SAW AND ASKED THEM FOR A LETTER SAYING IT SHOULD REALLY SAY 36-680 AND THEY WERENT TO HAPPY ABOUT THAT.NOW IF I WANT A NEW SAW AND TRY TO TRADE IT IN OR JUST WANT THE MONEY AND TRY TO SELL THIS USED A COUPLE OF YEARS FROM NOW IT WILL LOOK LIKE I AM BEING A SCAMMER LIKE DELTA.THINK ABOUT IT WOULD YOU WANT A USED MISLABELD SAW?I MUST SAY RON AT AMAZONS TOOL CRIB HAS BEEN VERY NICE HELPING ME OUT TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM AND MAKE ME HAPPY.HE DOESNT GIVE YOU A ATTITUDE AND HE CALLS YOU BACK( THANKS RON ) WARNING BEWARE OF OLD SAWS WEARING NEW LABELS
