This is a little bit more than I expected. I had read previous reviews before making the purchase. One held that the case was too large. I appreciate the case size as I'll be able to put plenty of accessories in it. One also mentioned that it was a bit noisy. I find the noise level to be less than the average blender. One also seemed to denegrate the "tilt-lock" handle feature. This is the real neat part of the design, along with the comfort forward handle. The sole plate is top-notch and the power is all there for most any application. I used to work for a manufactured housing company on a road crew and all our hand power tools were Milwaukee. We put them through the grinder in all kinds of weather. I hope this one holds up as well. From looking at all the features and construction I expect it will.

I've been a carpenter subcontractor for 33 years and I've been through my share of saws. Never was very impressed with Milwaukee's style of saw until another sub contractor showed up on the job with this new model. I'd read about it at Amazon but never really tried it out until now. All I can say is sweet! It's about time someone has made a powerful, durable, well balanced saw at a great price. My Dewalts on now on the shelf along with the extra switches I had to buy to keep them going. Take it from a guy who has one of these in his hand for 40 hours a week, this is a super saw.
Excellent Saw!

I've had this saw about a month now and I am very impressed. This is one powerful, tough, saw. As a remodeling contractor I am very hard on tools and this saw can take the abuse. I have owned several other circular saws and this is easily my favorite. I also have the Porter Cable blade on left which I have used the last 3 years. I like the Porter Cable and I love the visibility of the blade on left, but it always feels out of balance in my hand since I am right-handed, and when setting up cuts you often find that the majority of the saw's shoe and weight is being supported by the off cut side, because the blade on left is meant for left handers.
br /
br /The Milwaukee 6390 has solved this problem. It is extremely well balanced and the design of the blade opening in the shoe allows for excellent visibility of the cut line from above the saw. As a right hander you do not need to lean over the saw to see your cut line. Some guys are in such a habit of doing just that, and it is a hard habit to break. I have pointed out to them how you can easily see the cut line from above and they always comment on how great that is.
br /
br /The bevel adjustment handle is large and sturdy and easy to adjust. Bevel cuts on this saw are the best I have ever experienced. It will cut bevels up to 51 degrees or so like butter. No bogging or binding whatsoever.
br /
br /Two minor complaints that Milwaukee should address is that the shoe has a little bump on the edge at each corner, so that if you are using a straight edge like a speed square as a cutting guide, those little bumps will cause you to not get a perfectly square cut. To solve this I just filed them off. The other thing is that I did not like the thin kerf blade that came with the saw. I put on a heavy duty carbide framing blade and the saw cuts much smoother, and quieter. I get perfectly square cuts now, and this thing will go through a stud so smoothly it feels like 1 X .
br /
br /Despite its minor flaws the Milwaukee is still deserving of 5 stars especially when you start comparing other saws. The Porter Cable is a close second in my book, but the combination of balance, power, control, and adjustments of the Milwaukee make it my top choice. Highly recommend.

The saw is great on power and on adjustments, the only thing I could find wrong,is the base plate had so many holes drilled in it I had a hard time following a stright line on lumber that was very rough.I dont know how else to describe it but I have been a carpenter for 20 years and only owned makita circular saws until I bought a big red machine.Never had this problem on my makitas. Seems that the plate also has a cut in it for the motor to drop down for a deper cut. This also catches on any splinter of wood sticking up.I really like all the extras they have put in this saw and hope I can get use to this little querk.

I just started using this saw (I purchased the lefthand 6391) to complement my lefthand Skil 5510 5-1/2" Circular Saw. My old (20 years) 7-1/4" Skil saw was overdue for replacement. Even though I use my 5-1/2 for most of my cutting, I need a 7-1/4 now and then for heavier work like cutting 4x stock. Here are my impressions of the Milwaukee 6391.pGood -br1-Surprising light weight for a 7-1/4. The magnesium\aluminum\plastic housing makes this unit the lightest 7.25s I have handled. And I checked all the major brands at home depot, hefting each in turn.p2- First class construction. Every component of this machine is precision. The aircraft aluminum shoe is a marvel to behold. Much better then the stamped steel some others use. The depth of cut release mechanism is the best I have seen. Big grabbable handle that smoothly releases the shoe. Ditto on the bevel release, both easy on the fingers and they lock down with confidence. I really like the grab handle at the front of the saw. Its grippy-rubber covered and fits the hand perfectly. The magnesium housing around the top of the blade looks cool and give this saw an impressive look. The adjustable handle is a clear break-through in saw design. Its a brilliant innovation and I'm surprised no other manufacturer thought of this before. It lets you set the angle your hand engages the tool with. So whether you are working material below your knees or even overhead, you have eight settings to chose from. I'm still experimenting with the settings, but with this saw, you have a choice. I really like the rubberized handle too. No more slipping out of a sweaty palm.p3- Power. I'm working with salvaged fir timbers this month, all 4x and this old wood is hard and tough. The 6391 just powers through without slowing at all! Even the full 4"x12" beams are no match for the powerful motor on the machine. I have to flip the timbers to cut all the way through them and the resulting cuts are square and smooth, and I'm doing these free hand, without a 90 degree helper-square. The blade that came with the saw is good, a 16 point carbide tipped one. When it starts to dull I'll switch over to a Freud TK203 7-1/4" 24-Tooth Thin Kerf.p4- Case. The saw comes with a LARGE red carry case. It will hold extra extension cords and other pliable items if desired.pNegative - Very little here.br1- The depth of cut guage is set on the inside of the saw housing and its hard to see. The marking are in 1/4" increments, which is how much blade you want pertruding from below the work surface but the numbers are not easy to read. The Ryobi 7.25 had a very good depth guage setup, the best of all the ones I looked at at HD.p2- No blade brake. Some of the high end saws have this feature, I'm not sure why Milwaukee left this out. Maybe to save on weight. It would be a "nice to have."p2a- An update on the blade brake feature. The "right hand" model, the 6394, has the blade brake. I found this out from the Milwaukee web site. No plans to offer this feature in the "lefty" model though (I wrote them). You do lose a 1/4 horse of power on the 6394; maybe thats the trade off. I'd rather have the power to be honest.pThis is a great circular saw. If you use one of these tools on a regular basis, or if you are just a now-and-then user but like to have the best tools, get this one. You'll be writing you own review here just out of your enthusiasm for what a great job Milwaukee has done on a classic design.

After 12 yrs. of owning a Dewalt, I decided to purchase the Milwaukee #6390 Big Red, after reading many reviews, I'm glad I did. This past summer I used it to build a 16'x 40' deck. It cut the wet P.T. as if it were butter. The corners on the deck are cut at 45 degrees, no problem with the easy bevel adjustment on this saw. It is lightweight for being the workhorse it is and is very easy to see the cut line because the way the saw is made, not to mention the adjustable handle, very user friendly, The saw comes with a Milwuaukee 16T Endurance carbide blade which does a beautiful job, quick smoooth cuts. When I bought my saw the Milwaukee rep. gave me a 24T Milwaukee Endurance carbide blade, if your doing finer work than framing, this blade cuts incredibly smooth, no sanding- worth every penny-( $18 from Amazon ). And by the way, I just read Fine Homebuiding Magazine ( JAN.2005 edition )and it rated about 12 different circular saws and chose "Big Red" one of two BEST on the market today. A great tool that's great to have and fun to use.

I use all sorts of woodworking tools. If they pass my test, they will work for almost everyone. I am not saying this in a zealous way. I mean I put these thing thru the test. Building 10 houses last year alone. This thing was flawless. The blade that came with the saw worked great for a while, but I go thru them. I have other saws on the job, Bosch, Makita, Dewalt. I rank them in that order. If you are disappointed let me know why please......Worth the money for sure. I like some other brands more in my other tools but this one takes the prize for circular saws.

PROS:
br /Great saw and power. I was surprised how much I would like the Tilt-Lok and how easy it was to adjust it. Easy adjustment of the handle, bevel, and cutting depth. The out-port of the saw dust is nice.
br /
br /CONS:
br /It seems to me that it takes a while to get up to full speed. The blade that comes with it is nothing to brag about. I wish this saw had the removable cable. When you put it in the case, like most saws, you put a sharp bend in the cable. It's has a modest cord grip, but over time this can really wear on the cable.
This is an outstanding saw...

I received this saw as a birthday present, allowing me to retire my old underpowered and inaccurate Black Decker "Sawforce" saw. The Milwaukee arrived in perfect condition and purred like a kitten from the start. I have been very impressed with every aspect of this thing, most notably:
br /
br /The tool-less ability to change the base plate angle as needed;
br /
br /The POWER. It cuts wet framing lumber and quarter sawn white oak with equal ease;
br /
br /With all that power, I have not experienced any binding, stalling, kicking, burning etc;
br /
br /The tilt lock handle is fantastic. I cannot conceive of using a saw without it now that I have it;
br /
br /The blade that came with the saw is quite good.
br /
br /Though the case is huge, it is sturdy and protects the saw very well.
br /
br /Overall I cannot say enough good things about this saw. Its relatively light, very accurate, powerful, and feels like it will outlast me. Buy one yourself and you won't be sorry!

I bought this saw at a Big Box. Paid more than the amazon.com price. I won't make that mistake again. However, even the price I paid was worthwile for this tool.
br /
br /The control handle is ergonomic and very comfortable. Trigger action is smooth and required less effort than other saws I have used. After taking it out of the box on a deck renovation, the first thing I noticed is the large-size and relative light weight of this saw. Upon reaching for the left-hand guide handle, I see that it is attached to the aluminum base of the tool, rather than the motor assembly. This is a detail unique to Milwaukee products and allows for more balanced handling of the tool. The left hand guides the base of the saw... confidence inspiring.
br /
br /I fire it up. The eerily quiet motor (by circular saw standards) is refreshing. It is nice to end a day of sawing without a ringing in my ears. This saw is plenty powerful. I cut 2X treated lumber (very wet) with ease. The included blade is adequate. It made satisfactory cuts in rough lumber. I would recommend purchasing a dedicated finishing blade for finer applications.
br /
br /Well constructed and ergonomic, I am happy with this purchase and I highly recommend this model to contractors or anyone who expects to put in many hours with this saw.

I've had this saw for a few months now and by far, it is the best CS I have owned. I wasn't sure how much I would use the Tilt-Lok handle however, I find myself adjusting it each time I make a significant change in the cutting depth. Having the ability to change the angle of the handle is nice, especially when making long rip cuts at a shallow depth.
br /
br /The saw has a tremendous amount of power and has so far, cut through everything I have thrown at it. 3/4 plywood is easily ripped cleanly and accurately. 2x lumber can be mitered as well. The supplied blade isn't bad either considering it is thrown in by the maunfacturer. Eventually, I will upgrade it to one of the better quality Freud blades.
br /
br /As with most Milwaukee tools, the warranty is stout. I think that any manufacturer who builds a quality tool should back it up and Milwaukee definetly does.
br /
br /Bottom line, this CS is in a class by itself and worth every penny.

I agree with most of the reviews written so far about this fine machine. It has the power and heft to cut anything a mere man can push it through. I particularly like the tilting handle which allows great ergonomics regardless of the height the saw is being used. The seven and a half pound weight is amazing when you consider this saw has more power than most push mowers. The blade that comes with it is good and the wrench works ok too. I really love the long cord made of rubber that allows one to cut a full sheet of ply length wise with out plug hang up. The only bone I have to pick with the saw's engineers is the base plate. Although it is true to the blade and thick enough to resist bending even if dropped, its edge is too thin. This edge tends to dive under long guides it follows for straight cuts. If it had a ninety degree bend, or some added thickness along the long edges of the shoe, I think that would solve that problem. I also have a Hitachi sidewinder and its nickel plated cast aluminum base is thick at the edges and follows long guides much easier. Other than this small issue, I can't think of a better side winder saw for either amatuer or professional.

I have to dissent from the glowing reviews. The aluminum base plate has not stayed flat for me, and I'm a fairly careful user, cabinet and trim work, and the "potato chipping" of the base tends to cause some blade twisting depending on where your weight is on the handle, leading to tearout and less than perfect 90 degree cuts. The handle on the blade depth adjustment tends to tighten as you raise the saw, requiring some fiddling to adjust the depth. I gave it 3 stars because as the others said it's powerful enough and certainly an adequate product, but not stellar.

That guy, Big Something, is way off base. This is the sweetest saw I have used in many years. I've always been a B&D saw guy but not anymore. The motor is quiet, it is powerfull and cuts so easy. The only thing it doesn't do is measure twice and cut once. The case is strong unlike so many you find. With the discount it was a good buy. Without the discount it is still a good buy.

I bought this saw today for $99.00 at Home Depot. I did a considerable amount of research. I decided on the Makita because of the price. However, when I saw this one on sale I had to have it.
br /
br /In short, it is the best circular saw I have ever used. I brought it home and tore through some pretty thick red oak with a steel blade (just to see what it would do); it ripped through it easily. I didn't even feel the wood it was cutting. It is hands down the best circular saw I have ever used.

My search for the last saw I'll ever buy brought me to this model and the DeWalt 634. I used to think the Skilsaw 77 was quite a nice tool. (I also used to think any Craftsman that could spin a blade was OK, too...)
br /
br /I liked the rear pivot on the DeWalt, easier than adjusting the handle every time you move the blade. That model also has a blade brake, to get one from Milwaukee you have to move up to the 6394, and we're already talking a bit of dough here. (Never mind - the 6394 would be worth every dime).
br /
br /In the end there is really no comparison. The DeWalt's front-mounted depth-of-cut adjustment ruins the view of the blade; you have to lean forward to see your cut line. This saw is lighter, quieter, and feels better in your hand. Cutting depth and bevel markings are cast-in, not on decals that may wear off one day. If you need to cut up a floor you'll appreciate the flexibilty of the Tilt-Lok handle. The bottom line is the cutting - this saw makes wood feel like liquid. If you couldn't see and hear the Endurance blade doing its work, you wouldn't know you were cutting anything. It is absolutely effortless - turns wood to vapor. I even swapped the stock blades between the two saws, and while the DeWalt blade is relatively garbage, this saw cuts like a monster either way.
br /
br /If you never try the Milwaukee, you'll be perfectly happy with whatever you like now. But you'll be missing something truly special. Go for the 6394 if you need a blade brake - the 8 seconds it takes this blade to spin down can do plenty of damage if you're not careful.

I use the Milwaukee 6390 saw at work and I must say it is awesome. It cuts everything I want it to cut with plenty of power to spare. The features of this saw as well as the ease of viewing the blade makes this saw a five-star product to me. I have ordered a 6391 blade-left saw for my own use at home. I would recommend this saw to anyone who wants to get what they pay for.

I bought this saw based on all the reviews and reputation. When I tried to square the baseplate to the blade I checked the plate for flatness and found it to be warped. It had at least a 1/8" dip in the middle of the plate, right where you place a square to check for 90 to the blade! I checked a display model at a local dealer and it had a dip also, though not as bad. br I looked for other saws with strong, flat bases and chose the Porter Cable. The adjusting handles are small and hard to use but at least I can expect square cuts!

I wrote a review on this saw when I first bought it, because I was so happy to find a saw that replaced my old standbys. It's been a year since I bought this saw and I'm not sorry. I'm from the generation of old Rockwell & Porter Cable saws, so finding a replacement has always been tough for me.I had the original Hitachi which I liked very much, but when it went bad, I was at a dilemma. I tried the new Hitachi and Porter Cable, no way,not even close. There were two choices left in my mind, and those were Bosch & Milwaukee. I tried DeWalt years ago and didn't like it, so that wasn't an option, Bosch on the other hand,I've never owned so I can't say. In conclusion, if your looking for a saw, and are undecided, try this saw, you won't be sorry, God bless.

First I want to direct you to go read impartial reviews of the most popular circular saws done by a large crew of framers at www.shop-for-circular-saws.com , this is a very helpfull site. My review is as follows : I bought this saw new to replace my old beater, and I must say it has excellent power and is built very solid, great quality, it effortlessly cuts through everything I have used it on. BUT it's one big problem which is so annoying that I am unwilling to use it anymore, and will sell it because of, is that it seems designed to direct it's stream of sawdust directly at your face. It blasts chips and dust at your face and under your chin and down your shirt collar. Every time I use this saw I end up leaning out of the way in the most akward positions just to avoid this. I have used many circular saws and never had this problem, sure you will always get dusty but nothing like with this one. I hate this saw for this reason alone. Keep in mind that this saw is a "blade on the right side of the motor" unit and it might be better for left handed users as far as the dust in the face problem. I must admit I have not heard this problem mentioned by anyone else in any reviews so maybe I'm crazy, but I know can't make another cut with this thing. I will be replacing it with a Porter Cable 743-K(Blade on left) saw, which was the top pick at www.shop-for-circular-saws.com and is the lightest available. Good luck.

Generally, a good saw. Comfortable to pick up and get to work, but not the kind of tool to set down or store carelessly due to the aluminum shoe easily bending.
br /
br /Saw does get up to speed a bit slow, and it does throw sawdust around. It helps to practice a bit and to use the sharpest, finest blade you can for the work at hand. It's tempting to let the motor do all the work, but stick with good sense and let the proper blade do the work.
br /
br /I generally enjoy the saw and have a great deal of confidence in it getting the work done. I would give it a higher review, but it's not a tough tool, just a good one.
br /
br /If it lasts a few years, I'll be happy at this price - although I would have paid extra for a detachable cord and a rip fence to be included in the giant red box...

Milwaukee has been in the circ-saw business for a long time and it shows. The 6390-21 is an example of years of experience along with new inovation. The only thing that I wish for would be some factory drilled holes in the base plate for attaching to a sled on a cutting guide. I drilled my own, with no problems. I never go on-site with out this tool, it's a work horse.

This is one powerful saw! I've yet to slow it down, yet alone bog it down. It just eats wood. That aside, it has some super features. The tilt handle is great. It is not hard to adjust, and makes the saw much more pleasant to use. The sightline is excellent, and the saw tracks well. I also like the padded forward grip, and being able to see the bevel scale without turning the saw around. The base is flat and promises to stay that way, and the saw is light weight. I have had no problems with it whatever. In fact, I gave my backup yellow saw away - and it was a good saw too. This Milwaukee saw rocks! It is professional through and through - definitely five star material.

I bought the Milwaukee as my first circular saw after reading about it in Consumer Reports. I've heard that circular saws sometimes stall or have difficulty cutting through certain things, but that is not something I've ever experienced with this saw. I've cut through PT 2x lumber, plywood, cement board, 1-1/2" thick flooring (with nails), and aluminum siding effortlessly. The saw is still going strong after 2 years of fairly heavy work.

Everyone loves this saw, or so it seems from the reviews. I like this saw as well, I own it. I've had it for over a year and a half and I've cut everything from 1x4s to 6x6s, mostly for framing. I still think it lacks power compared to a worm drive, which isn't all that much more expensive. Here's what I'd like you to consider before buy a circular saw: try out a worm drive before buying anything. Brakes are a definate plus, for you don't want to slow down when you're on a roll and they make for a downright safer cut. Also consider the $60 Skil 13amp saw with a laser. Skil is a great name when it comes to circular saws, and what a great price. If you want to spend more look at the Skil worm drive saw. If you want to buy milwaukee, buy the version of this circular saw with a brake, you'll thank yourself later.

I've used this on numberous renovation projects to cut plywood, studs, masonry and fiberboard. It has always performed superbly (using the right blade for the material) I just wish the newer model with the brake was out at the time because I don't see myself needing another. This saw is excellent even after 6 years.

I bought this after my cheaper saw caught fire trying to cut a sidewalk with a mason blade. The Milwaukee never flinched. I have relied upon it for cutting wood, of course, but also occasional concrete and brick work. It had a ten foot fall one time with no damage other than bending the bottom plate, which straightened quite well. However, eye protection is a must. I know it should always be, but admit that you have cheated and used squint protection a few times. Not with this saw. I tried different blades, but there is something about this saw that kicks dust in my eyes. I was a little embarrassed when I was showing it off to my cheapo dad and all he commented on was the sawdust in his face. I rarely use the Tilt-Lok, but it came in handy a couple of times.

br /I bought this saw about a year ago and I absolutly love it! At the time I bought it I was doing a lot of plywood underlayment in a condo developement and the Ryobi saw I was using was on its way out. I decided that I was going to spend the money and get the best saw I could. I did a lot of research and spent a lot of time in Home Depot feeling out which saw was the most comfortable in my hand (I`m not a big guy and I have smallish hands)Especialy important to my was the space between the front grip and the gaurd tab since I do a lot of plunge cuts and didn`t feel safe having to stretch to hold the gaurd up. I also tried out other folks saws on jobsites to see how I liked the way they worked. The Milwaukee and the Rigid were the best fit. The DeWalt was too big a stretch. I just plain didn`t like the Hitachi, Porter Cable, and Bosch. Given my experience with Rigid tools it was an easy choice from there. I`m glad I made the call I did. This is a great saw. Sturdy, comfortable, easy to use, and powerfull! Everyone whose tried it agrees, even the guy I work with whose a die hard DeWalt fan! Although I`m primarily a trim carpenter, I do some decks, some renovations, some underlayment, and other odds and ends too. I love using this saw and reach for it every chance I get. I also like the tilt lock handle and use it a lot even though I didn`t figure I would when I bought the saw. All in all, I would recomend this saw to anyone.

This Milwaukee circular saw is among the best tools made. The motor is strong and cuts through the hardest woods with relative ease. It is well balanced and of moderate weight thanks to the alloy construction. Fit and finish is suberb, as is the case with most Milwaukee products. The case is sturdy and a plus if you move your saw frequently between jobs. The Milwaukee gets 5 stars and is a credit to their line of quality power tools. I'd buy another one without a second thought.

This saw has plenty of power for any job, and is the quietest and smoothest running saw I've ever used. Though the stock blade that comes with the saw is good, stick a Freud Diablo 40t on it and cut smooth as silk.

I ordered this as gift for our son. It was better than I had anticipated. I knew Milwalkee was a good brand so I purchased it. Not only the saw came but the case that came with it. Excellent shape and delivered in a very short time.

Another excellent tool from Milwaukee. The adjustable handle is a very nice touch. It is not too heavy, but is still very rugged. The base was dead flat. Switching blades is a snap.
br /The best thing about it is that it just works like it is supposed to day in, and day out.

I've been building houses for 20 years and I've used nearly all brands. The Milwaukee is the most well thought out of all of them by far. It is as though they were recording all my mental notes over the years about what was wrong with all the other saws and then corrected them. Great power, sight line, weight, base plate strength, adjustment levers, adjustment handle, blade guard sensitivity, etc. No need to buy another saw. Don't change a thing, Milwaukee.

Ever buy a tool, and regret that you didn't spend a little more to get the added power or features that would make your work a little easier? I once bought the cheap tools, because I couldn't justify the cost of these professional tools. I now look back at all the money I wasted on cheap power tools. I bought this Milwaukee Saw last spring to replace the Craftman saw I had. I did a lot of research, looked at these and other reviews and decided on Milwaukee. I have never been happier with a power tool! I never realized what a good circular saw can do to make things easier. I've put up a fence, extended my deck, and am now finishing my basement. Looking forward to spring to build a shed!WARNING: to those considering a DEWALT product. They have a very poor reliability record when compared to other brands of these high end power tools. Do a little research, don't just go with the hot brands. Milwaukee has a very good service record, and I'm very pleased.

I had to rebuild my 15yr old deck this past summer. My craftsman CS just wasn't cutting it (pun). Said this will never do. Went to local big box and got this Milwaukee. I can tell you it's one sweet saw. Powerful enough to cut thru 2x treated lumber with ease. Hasn't bound up on me, although I guess if one cuts crooked enough any CS would bind, my craftsmans was always binding, motor running blade stopped stuf like that. These things don't exist with this saw. I think the blade that comes with this saw is pretty good. I used it all thru my deck rebuild with no problems. As another has said, this saw is not very loud, it is a pleasure to use. This saw isn't the least expensive out there, but it's well worth the money. I haven't read all the reviews but can't believe anyone who has used this saw would not like it. Highly recommend it.

I got htis saw for Christmas to replace the old Black Decker saw I've had for 12 years. I had some 2" 3" Oak boards to rip, and the B D just would not cut it. No problem with the Milwaukee. Just like cutting through butter.

Having used a number of lower-priced circular saws over the years I decided to spend the extra money and go for Milwaukee. I was not disappointed and anticipate many years of powerful and reliable service from this well designed machine. Having bought a Milwaukee Sawzall and a Holeshooter drill more than ten years ago I can report that these tools last.

I bought this left-handed version even though I am right-handed because it lets me see the blade as it cuts -- a definite advantage! I have used it several times. This is a great saw! It is light, easy to handle and adjust, and it cuts through wood like butter.

This saw is a dream to use. It cuts just as smoothy through thick hardwood as it will through a 1x1. With power to spare, it lives up to the Milwaukee name. The tilt handle feature makes it so comfortable you can use the saw all day without fatigue. Each cut is almost effortless and without vibration. The 6390-21 is the king of 7 1/4 inch circular saws. You can't go wrong with this one!

As a small fellow, I bought this primarily because it was so light. It is certainly easier to handle. However, you do have to hold it strongly with both hands. It develops so much torque and has so little mass to resist, kickback is definitely more of a problem than with my old Sears Craftsman. I've experienced it climbing up the workpiece and running backwards across it, particularly with a narrow kerf blade like that intended for plywood. That said, if held securely, it's a very good saw. The case is roomy and appreciated. And the handle adjustments are quick and convenient.

I work in maintenance in a factory in Milwaukee (yes, I'm a bit biased toward Milwaukee tools) and cut a variety of materials with this saw ranging from 2x4's to fiberglass decking to masonry. The 6390-20 never flinches no matter what you throw at it. I also think it is the most comfortable saw to use...the generous length and shoe-mounted front handle are among my favorite features. I've used a wide variety of brands of power tools at work (mostly using coworkers' tools), and I can honestly say (all bias aside) that Milwaukee just plain makes the best power tools. You won't be disappointed.

This saw is awesome....except. Don't expect square cuts, because the shoe on every single one I have seen/used is warped right where you need to hold your square to set the blade-to-shoe bevel to be square when adjusting it. If this saw had the same MAG shoe as the Porter Cable, I would have kept it. But, I exchanged it for a Porter Cable, and even though I don't have Tilt-lok, I have a keyless blade change, and good square cuts.

I had this saw over a year. Never failed, cut through pressure-treated wood, ash, oak, walnut, bloodwood, maple, mahogany...always give me a nice, clean cut. The angle cuts were more precised than any other circular saw I tried in the past. No reason to buy any other circular saw.

Milwaukees 7 1/4" circular saw is the best you can buy. I've used several, and none compare to Milwaukee when it comes to having all the features you need in on package(albiet a rather ugly red package). It's powerful enough to chew through anything you can throw at it, but balanced enough to shear paper-thin pieces off the eng of a 2x4. The tilt lock handle is just gravy...it makes a great saw even better. You'd be hard pressed to find a more expensive 7 1/4" saw (although Dewalt leaps to mind), but you can't find a tougher, more precise, or more versatile saw than this.

Bought this saw from from a brick and mortar store. So here is my first impression. Got it to replace a dewalt dw396. Took it home and unpacked it. Started looking it over and was SHOCKED. Not by electricity but where it was made...CHINA! The one on the store display said made in mexico. I can live with that, but china? I guess since milwaukee is owned by a company in hong kong now, production will head that way to increase profits.
br /The fit and finish seem ok as does the large case, but it's what you can't see is what bothers me.
br /I will add to the review as I get some time on the saw To see how it holds up.
br /UPDATE
br /I returned this saw.
br /After using it I decided it just wasn't for me.
br /It cut wood like it was air. Sometimes you couldn't even tell you were cutting anything, excellent! But that's were it ended for me. The saw feels and sounds like a home owners tool. That is to say maybe alittle fragile? The base plate is nothing to write home about although it is nice and big...but It's just ok otherwise. Mine was alittle warped also. I believe a short drop and you will be looking for another saw.
br /The motor area had a strange rattle sound when at full rpm's but still cut very good. Also there is not a pocket for the brush's on the outside of the housing, So changing these will require some work.
br /The mounting brackets for the shoe to the body were very cheap looking. Like something from a $50.00 saw. Although they did work well.
br /All in all It's a good saw. The design and power are way ahead of most others, BUT to me it didn't feel like a comercial saw but would be excellent for the homeowner.

I'm a carpenter and I've been using some makita saw for a long time but since i've use the milwaukee 15 amps I'm simply amazed by it. You get the total power of a 15 amps with 5800rpm. There's no break on it but if your finger get caught in a saw you better finish the job,I guess! It's a lightweight saw with a lot of good fonction on it. The cutting view is number one. Try it!

We had started a new job on a Monday and someone told me that one saw was down. I did some research on this item6390 and felt it was capable of doing our type of work.Brought the saw to the site took it out of the box and it was put to work,I returned in one hour to find this saw smoking, guard blade cut up and plate to be bent. Returned it to the vendor who accused me of not using the saw properly, all I told him was I wanted a new saw,not to be had, went to local milwaukee dealer who looked at the saw and pronuced it DEFECTIVE. Went back to where I bought it and told this to the gentleman and this was as he said OVER.Mentioned saw was less then one week old no satisfaction. All in all everything was rectified I never did receive a new saw,it was fixed all because of a Blade Stabilizer(washerThe saw is running I fell badly because of all problems with the saw.We have it online straioght cuts need a fence on a long run but the power is thereso we will use it.

I was all set to buy this product until I went to Home Depot to see it. After looking at it for a while, I noticed that if you hold the base firmly, the saw and blade can flex about 2 degrees. It appears that the problem results from Milwaukee using cheap rivets to connect the saw to the base. I instead bought the DeWalt 363. I am very happy and give this a 5 star.

Just ordered and received this saw a couple of days ago. I've been using it quite a bit and it seems like a pretty good saw but the second day of use I cut the saw's power cord while setting the saw down. This saw has no brake and takes a while to stop. If I had it to do over again I'd look for one with a brake.

After reading the reviews I purchased a Milwaukee circular saw. I am totally impressed with how it cut through the toughest of woods. I am even impressed with the sloppy base that was noticed by an owner of a DeWalt 363. Don't let 2 degrees of blade deflection stop you form buying this saw. A table saw or mitre saw would be better suited for high precision angles. This saw will last long after I will need it to. It is a great buy for anyone, homeowner or contractor.
