I did a lot of research before I purchased the Bosch 4000-07 (includes outfeed support and stand). By default, I was convinced that I would purchase the DeWalt for the same price. I also looked a lower-priced Sears portable table saw where I saw the DeWalt and had time to examine both. DeWalt did not have the outfeed table. I wanted to examine the Bosch in person, before spending that kind of money. In the end, I bought the Bosch based on the online reviews and pictures.
br /
br /I replaced a Ryobi BT 3000 Precision Woodcutting System with sliding. I had the Ryobi for ten years and could hardly wait until it wore out, so I could replace it. To say the least, the Ryobi label of "Precision Woodcutting" was a misnomer. It has been a constant hassle to keep the saw aligned. I have had to overhaul the saw, replacing drive belts and repeatedly re-alighning all aspects of the saw. The sliding table stuck out too far and consequently, the saw took up too much room in my small shop. It required constant adjustment. I wanted a smaller saw with more precision, with a good table top and traditional miter slots. I am getting more precise in my woodworking.
br /
br /Setup time with the Bosch was quick. Addition of the outfeed table and left side support were quick and simple. The engineering is superb. I did take the time to check all alignments with a dial protractor. It was dead on in every test--miter gauge presets, rip fence and the gauge for bevel cuts. I had hoped for the Bosch reputation for quality to shine through and it did. It is truly accurate, unlike my previous two saws (the Ryobi and a Sears traditional aluminum).
br /
br /I decided that I would take a vow of safety with the new saw, leaving the anti-kickback device and blade guard for every cut possible. I have not been hindered in the least by its use. In fact, I am more at ease using the saw. Bosch can't take all the credit for this, but I didn't experience any of the difficulties other reviewers had with the safety mechanisms.
br /
br /The blade housing and arbor placement design is very similar to the older Ryobi. I've learned to adapt to it over the years and take my time with blade replacement and dado blades.
br /
br /Finally, in the Bosch, I have a compact, accurate traditional-style well-engineered table saw. I just didn't have the room for a large cabinet saw. I appreciate the lighter weight Bosch. I can slide it in to position easily. The saw will probably not leave my small shop. Cutting plywood is a breeze with the outfeed table, left side support and the 25" rip fence capacity.
br /
br /I would not recommend cutting large sheets of plywood on this saw. I rough cut plywood (oversize) with a jigsaw first, and then get precision with the Bosch by shaving off a 1/4' or so. I never did find a local dealer so I could see the saw before purchase. I bought here at Amazon for $475(no shipping or handling).
br /
br /Nothing is left unconsidered in the engineering and design of this saw. All parts, miter gauge, blade arbor wrench, rip fence are stowable on the saw's plastic body, even the (supplied) allen wrench has its own designated holder.
br /
br /I waxed the table top with Johnson's paste wax. I have repeatedly rubbed scrap pieces of maple and basswood on the oxidized aluminum surface to see if it produced any marks on the wood. None.

I purchased this saw about 6 months ago to replace my worn out 10" Skil tabletop saw. I had done a lot of research on-line and had looked at saws in the stores. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a place even in Dallas that had one in stock. In the end it became a toss-up between this saw due to reviews I read on-line and Ridgid's contractor saw only sold in Home Depots. Due to the changes that Ridgid has gone through in manufacturing providers and no longer offering the life-time warranty, I chose the Bosch with no hesitation.
br /
br /I knew the Bosch was a major upgrade from my old Skil portable saw but did not realize just how much better the Bosch was going to be. Set up was quick and easy. Instructions were clear on all adjustments but none needed to be changed as the saw was dead on right out of the box.
br /
br /I am a self-employed handyman/carpenter and have used this saw to cut all kinds of materials: rock maple, engineered flooring, 2x4, masonite, oak, poplar, pine, MDF, 3/4 plywood. It cut through all the materials with ease. The blade that comes with the saw is just about as good as the Freud 40 tooth blade I bought to "upgrade". Blade changes are quick and easy. The fence is solid and accurate. The outfeed and side support do what they're supposed to do. The only time the saw slowed down was when I was cutting dados (1/2 x 3/4 - a lot of material) in pressure treated 2x4s. But I got perfectly centered flat bottom dados.
br /
br /My brother is a GC, does a lot of his own work and has the DeWalt contractor saw. He got a chance to look at my saw and was visably jealous. He likes his DeWalt but has had a few problems with the rack pinion fence adjustment popping off track at times.
br /I have no complaints about this saw and highly recommend it to anyone needing an accurate portable saw that can do just about anything you'll ever throw at it. It's a pleasure to work with a finely crafted piece of machinery that makes my work easy and fun.

br /Well, just by coincidences it is three years later to the day and I still feel the same way about this saw. I use it nearly every week and have yet to be disappointed. I think my only gripe would be a little bit better instruction on what to do with the arbor washers when using a stacked dado set. None of the materials with the saw or dado insert instruct you to swap out the inner and outer arbor washers for large stacks.
br /
br /I am a bit jealous of those who have purchased this saw recently and have the benefit of some of the "upgrades" such as the gravity rise rolling stand and the improved rip fence. Otherwise, I would make the same purchase in a heartbeat if it ever became necessary. You won't go wrong.

Although I didn't buy this saw from Amazon, I got the very same deal from a local retailer and didn't have to wait for it to ship. For a tabletop type of unit, this saw is substantial. The soft-start motor is a nice feature but I found that the motor will sometimes bog a bit when cutting a harder type of wood. Nevertheless, the saw operates about as quiet as any similar size table saw I've seen. The stand supplied with the saw is convenient, easy to set-up and use and quite sturdy. The outfeed support and end extension are nice features and I've already had a need to use them both. The blade bevel lock lever is a knucklebuster so be careful when loosening it. Changing the blades on this saw has not been a problem thus far but I can understand the complaints from some of the other users in this forum regarding this particular area of saw operation. The blade guard/splitter unit is one-piece so there's no way to use just the splitter without the rest of the guard. If you're trying to cut really narrow stock, the guard will in your way most of the time. I built myself an auxiliary fence to work around this problem but I really wish that a standalone splitter was available. Since the saw has an aluminum table, it is very light but the aluminum requires occasional polishing to keep stock sliding over it smoothly. Since aluminum is fairly "soft", the top scratches and mars fairly easily - not a problem but something that you should be aware of. The fence thus far has been accurate - I'll be interested to see how it holds up over the long run. Overall a nice product and worthy of your serious consideration.

I've been shopping for table saws for months and finally narrowed the search down to this model. The once a year sale on this puppy came just in time for my birthday and my not-so-subtle hints to my wife resulted in a massive box in my garage. Thanks honey :-)
br /
br /I highly recommend this unit and found it to function smoothly, dead-on accurate and square (with only minor adjustments as per the manual after shipping), and well made. I rated it 4 stars because of two minor issues below that have only minor effects on my work flow; since they didn't screw up the work pieces I wouldn't consider them major. I'd give it 4 1/2 if I could.
br /
br /That being said I have two minor complaints. The first is related to the amazon-bundled rear outfeed attachment. As I was installing it I had a hard time getting the sucker to square up. After 20 minutes and some silicon spray I finally got it installed, but it's by no means a one handed operation to pull it out when I use it. It should be.
br /
br /The other minor thing is that the blade tilt scale is only accurate on one end of the scale at a time. During the out of box initial adjustments recommended in the manual I used my squares and 45 to set it up for the first time. They have you put the blade in a perfrect 90 position, and tweak a set-screw that both moves this chintzy little arrow that indicates the angle and setsthe blade stop. You then do the same for the 45. While I could get the blade to stop on both angles perfect according to the combination square, the arrow indicator was doomed to be show either off on the 90 or off on the 45.
br /
br /Like I said, minor and easy to workaround...I just hope I use it enough that I don't forget that the 45 all the full stop NOT as inidicated by the scale/guide.

This saw has never bogged down on me, and has performed well over the last year. Its easy to use, all the controls are pretty intuitive. The fence always always always locks down square, something I was worried about with this design. Unlike some other reviewers I have not had a problem changing blades.pIts deficiencies of design and documentation are small, so only one star off: Left extension is pathetic, the procedure for aligning the blade guard doesn't work (and when I threw it out and just thought it through was able to come up with an easier and faster procedure), and the dust collection is inadequate - I still get sawdust everywhere no matter how much suction I put on the port.pMy main complaint though is that I bought the wrong saw. This one is too little for me. Power is fine, its the top and fence: too small for most of what I am trying to do. I often find I need more room before the blade and too the left (and the puny extension doesn't really cut it, I'm waiting for it to break off during a cut). In the end I decided I needed a cabinet saw because I have been making, well, cabinets! I'll get one soon, and keep this for jobs where I need to take a table saw on site. I don't count this against the Bosch in my rating but mention it in case someone reading this thinks they need a bigger saw but are thinking about compromising to the Bosch (or similarly sized Dewalt) to save money. To them I say: if in the end you find you need a bigger saw you haven't saved money - just get the bigger saw.

I purchased this saw about 9 months ago after comparing it to the comparable DeWalt 744S job site table saw. Strong points abut the DeWalt saw were the accurate fence and the Teflon-coated top. Pluses for the Bosch saw that swayed me over the DeWalt saw were the included side and rear supports, soft start, larger top, and the outstanding folding stand.
br /
br /I'm a novice user, but found it easy to rip knotty pine furring strips and maple cabinet molding for a kitchen renovation. The fence was smooth, easy to read, and accurate. The start/kill switch, depth, and miter controls were accessible and easy to use. I appreciated the soft start feature and the ample power from the motor (surprisingly not that loud). I easily moved the table and stand (separately) from my basement to the first-floor renovation area. The storage areas for the extra blade, fence, and cord were well designed.
br /
br /However, the anti-kickback mechanism seemed to catch the work occasionally. The table is easily marred, although regular waxing helps. I do not recommend the dust collection bag as it did very little to capture any dust.
br /
br /Overall, I would highly recommend this saw to anyone wanting an accurate, dependable, user-friendly, portable table saw.

I am a finish carpenter by trade. I mainly use a Delta contractors saw for most of my work because of the precision and accuracy needed to do a quality job. Unfortunately the Delta is too cumbersome to take to jobs that I may only be at for a day or two. I have never been a fan of portable table saws because of the poor quality of the cuts due to "cheap" fences and the excessive run out of the arbors. I settled for a portable about a year ago and was constantly spending time trying to compensate for all of its shortcomings. (more frustration than it was worth) and had basically given up.I have been looking at the reviews on the DeWalt and the Bosch but was reluctant to buy one because of the cost. I went to my local supply store to check it out. The blade was tight and all the controls were very smooth. Needless to say I bought it.Set up was simple. It took me about a half hour between assembly and tune up. I used it for a few simple cuts then I started to play around using it to cut baseboard returns and scibing stock. Even with the blade that came with it the cuts were true and clean. Can't wait to mount my Forrest on there! Blade change is really quite simple. Just raise the blade to its highest position, set the arbor lock and tilt it to 45 degrees. You have complete access to the retaining nut and washer. The blade comes right out. Also I wouldn't worry about 13/16 dadoes having to leave the washer off. You have to do the same with a moulding head cutter. (The same is true with the Delta contractors saw) The thickness of all the blades combined provides the support needed. This is one saw I am looking forward to using on many jobs to come!! I highly recommend it to anybody looking for a quality saw that can be moved from job to job quickly and easily as well as having almost zero set up time!!

I've owned my saw for almost 2 years and I do finish carpentry along with some general carpentry and I am always loading and unloading this thing from my truck. I love the acurracy, smooth start and steady power. I have always had problems changing the saw blade because the inside blade gaurd gets in the way when taking the blade on and off. I've had to grind the corners off the gaurd to eliminate this problem. More recently the mechanism that tilts the blade wont tighten up and I can't figure out how to adjust this, now I have to take it in to a service center. Also the stand has problems locking in the upright position.
br /This sounds like I dont like the saw but I really do, I am just frustrated with these issues and I dont have time to drop my saw off for several weeks while it gets repaired.

As others have stated, this saw is arguably the best small/benchtop tablesaw on the market. The motor is strong and quiet. The soft start feature is nice, especially since it keeps the saw from jerking on uneven surfaces (often noted on outdoor jobsites) and helps prepare your ears for the noise when working inside. The cabinet and stand seem sturdy and are well thought out (including hand grips and tool/blade/accessory storage). On the flip side, thought the saw has a textured aluminum table that scratches easily and needs cleaned of saw dust frequently. The dust port is marginally effective (I have a 5.5hp wet/dry hooked to it on the jobsite and still sweep often). Blade changing isn't difficult, but takes a little practice - 10" blades must be worked into place. While the saw runs an 8" stacked dado with ease, the arbor setup could be better (read: longer, truer, etc.) as I cannot seem to get a flat bottom dado (with Frued SD508). The side and rear extensions are very nice to have, although the side extension is not flush in height with the table surface (strange?). Lastly, machine setup is difficult (or at least for me). The table is fixed, so blade to miter slot alignment is done by moving the motor/blade mechanism which is more than touchy. The fence clamps by rear to front tension and is very hard, though not impossible, to lineup with the miter slot (repeatably). Other settings are as expected - basically problem free.pThis is a great tool and will not dissapoint if you are patient enough to get it setup well - as with any tablesaw purchase, consider decent setup tools (e.g. precision square, 45deg block, and TS-Aligner).
wouldn't buy it again

I've had my saw for just over a year and in general I am pleased. I did throw the
br /miter guage away and replace it with Incra. The fence is finnicky. Out of the box the blade needed needed minor adjustments but I felt I was getting good results. I have some difficulty cutting some things accurately and finally realized that the table top isn't flat. Not even close. It appears to be attached to the base at the four corners and bows up in the middle.

I really wanted a professional quality, floor mounted table saw but just did not have the room. I found this saw, read all the reviews and bought one. I have had it for two years and love it. I am a hobbyist and do lots of home repairs. This saw has done everything asked of it. It will rip 2x4's without even slowing down and is very accurate for detailed work. The RIP fence is accurate and simple to use. I bought the folding stand and the table extentions -- I strongly recommend them. This is a very well made product and a pleasure to use.

Thank you for writing! When mounting dado blades on the Bosch 4000 table saw, follow this procedure which was accidentally omitted from the owners manual. This saw will handle up to a 13/16" wide dado blade.pRemove both blade washers from the arbor shaft. Install use the Outer washer as the Inner washer, then mount your dado blade set, then install the lock nut. An outer washer is not needed for a dado set. This procedure will provide proper spacing of your dado blade set.pChanging blades can be a bit tight, but if you insure the blade is elevated to it's maximum height you shouldn't have any problem. The reason for this is because the dust containment shroud is rather close to the blade to contain saw dust from blowing all over the place.

This is an excellent saw for the $$$. There are a few minor issues, but nothing like the junk saws for about $100.00 less. The quality (and Amazon accessories promotion), at this price range, blow the competition away. Bosch quality throughout. The rip fence is dead-on accurate! It is superior than the other brands I tested prior to dropping the coin.

This is a follow-up to a review posted here earlier. At that time I was wondering why there were as many positive reviews here as there were and still I'm left wondering.
Perhaps it's because most of the reviews seem to be left by very recent purchasers who have yet to put any real time on their saw. Or perhaps it's due to the fact we all wish for some sort of positive confirmation over our consumer choices. I don't know...
I do know, however that this item leaves much to be desired after having used if heavily for close to two years. I have to say that I'm not a detractor of Bosch Corp.. For years I've owned and used a number of their other tools and found that they're pretty consistently the equal to any similarly rated power hand tools on the market. This item comes up as a disapointment.
Unfortunately I believe many of it's shortcomings are simply due to a company attempting to economically produce a consumer item to a difficult design brief. On the one hand they've done a pretty good job making it somewhat versatile and keeping it very light at a price point... and on the other hand, maybe because of these very determinations, they've created something that raises serious doubts about quality and product life.
When I first puchased the saw I was also rather pleased with it. I realized it wasn't a quality cabinet saw that could last 30 years but was hoping to use it in a similar capacity for on-site applications... and it was fine (With some exceptions: Imprecise fence and mitre guide; poor debris expulsion without a properly rated dust collection system; poor dado cutter implementation) for the first year or so. After that, with use and wear it began to show it's true self. The aluminum extrusion making up the fence assembly wears and makes adjustments more and more difficult and unreliable. The aluminum and plastic assembly for the arbor raising mechanism wears, siezes and breaks (very common I understand). The plastic body of the saw itself is fairly fragile and brittle leading to the aforementioned problem and worries about being able to use the saw in the future at all. From those I've spoken to within the industry this seems to be the normal route for this particular item.
Considering the price of this saw you can't really think of it as a disposable tool though I don't expect my unit to last another year. I'm guessing that with time you'll see the ratings within this Amazon review system begin to decline.
My recommendation would be to avoid the purchase of this saw until a second iteration addressing a series of shortcomings is issued by Bosch.
Quite a disappointment indeed.
Addendum 18 June 2005: Unbelieveably poor design for a consumer product. Poor reliability; cheap manufacture; devastating design decisions. Avoid purchase at all costs. Apparently there is a new model out now. Approach with skeptisism.
Well, don't know if I could really call this a review, but rather some maintenance comments. I've had this saw for over 5 years now. I give it 5 stars for lasting that long under some stressful loading. I've mainly used it for ripping thick hardwoods, up to 2 inches of some really rough stuff. I've even used it to split 6-1/2 inch planks (coming 3 1/4 inches from each side), which should ordinarily be done with a bandsaw (which I don't have).
br /
br /This saw is still going. I've had a problem or two. About a year after getting it, I noticed that the blade would not stay at the adjustted height. It would drift downwards. So I contacted Bosch, who had already recognized the problem. They sent me a kit of parts, along with instructions on installation, and it has been working fine ever since. Kudos to Bosch for owning up to this problem. I assume that Bosch has taken care of this on later models.
br /
br /I also had some problems after some years of moving the saw up and down. It would stick. I kept oiling the gears and the long screw bolt that moves the saw, with little success. Finally in desperation, I put some lubrication on the two smooth rods on which the saw slides (they will be obvious when you turn the slide over). End of problem. Saw moves like new. Hint: use oil or grease for a lubricant--NOT WD-40 or some other grease-dissolving spray, which will only make the problem worse.
br /
br /Last thing: respect the polarity of the plug. One prong of the plug is slightly wider than the other. It actually makes a difference with this saw. My motor stopped once and would not go on. It turned out my plug had gotten worn and I had switched the polarity.
br /
br /Those are just some maintenance tips. Overall, I am very happy with this saw. It's nice to have a saw that you can move around without too much effort, and after 5 years of cutting, it's been more than worth my investment. Hope this is helpful for keeping your saw running well into the next decade.

This is a great table saw, which I'm using for about a year and a half. I highly recommend it. It needed some adjustements out of the box but other than that its perfect. The soft start is a great feature and the fence is quate good as well. I like the fact that it has fence scale for both right and left side cutting. Dewalt saw DOES NOT.

After a lot of research and comparisons, I purchased this saw through Amazon exactly a year ago. I have not only been extremely pleased it, but with Amazon's customer service as well.
br /
br /As for the saw, it has served me well, and has far exceeded my expectations and enabled me to take on some projects I couldn't otherwise have tackled. Although I've had a Craftsman 10" radial arm saw for years which has served me well (and continues to do so), it has its limitations. So, last year when faced with a project of making a steamer trunk with a lot of mitre joints, dados and precision cuts, I knew the radial arm just wasn't up to the task. So, space limitations be damned, I decided I had to break down and get a table saw, and this Bosch came through as the clear answer to my needs--both technically and space wise.
br /
br /Out of the box, the saw was dead-on for all of its settings. The table extensions are great, and add greatly to the ease and range of use of the saw. Another nice feature is the on-board storage for the mitre gauge, rip fence and blade storage. I have since added a zero clearance insert, a high-end blade, a precision mitre gauge and a couple of other features.
br /
br /Although the stand that came with the saw was very strong and stable, its mobility was limited, and pushing and pulling it around every time I wanted to use it became a hassle. So, I finally ended up making a nice two drawer stand fitted to a mobile base so that now I just flip the foot lever and roll the saw wherever I need it.
br /
br /Another thing I have added is a positive "lock-out" for the switch. Although the paddle switch is reasonably safe, as an old safety engineer I wanted something more positive. So, I took a dowel (3/8" I believe) and fixed a larger dowel on one end for a stop. Now, when I want to lock out the switch between cuts, I simply insert the dowel through the hole provided for a padlock, and the switch is locked out.
br /
br /In addition to being pleased with the saw, I should say a word about Amazon's customer service. When my saw arrived, all was well until I opened the rear table extension box---there was no hardware (4 bolts, some retainer clips, a plastic knob, etc.) for attaching it to the saw. Now, one would think that getting 4 bolts, etc., would be a snap. Well, it might have been easier to have ordered a complete battle ship. To make a long story short, I and Amazon tried in vein over several weeks to get Bosch to understand this simple request. During that time Bosch sent me a blade tote and a couple of other equally useless items, none of which had any relation whatever to the missing hardware! In the end, Amazon became as frustrated as I was and finally sent me an entire rear extension at NO CHARGE!! As far as I'm concerned, Amazon customer service has been excellent.
br /
br /In summary, this Bosch 4000 table saw is a keeper, and the top-of-the-line in its class. Kudos also for Amazon's customer service.

Love it! This is a great portable saw without a doubt. It's hard to add much with all the positive reviews but Bosch hit a home run on this one. As a remodeling contractor/finish carpenter I have owned and used several other popular job site saws including the similar priced Dewalt, but for overall performance the Bosch wins. I am using the Bosch on my current trim job, and it has not let me down.
br /
br /What impressed me the most was how smooth running the motor is and how little vibration this saw has, which results in very clean cuts even in hardwoods. Vibration is the downfall of most saws in this class due to their lighter table weights but not on this saw. Secondly, the Bosch as a very nice fence that is very easy to adjust, sturdy, accurate, and locks parallel to the blade without having to fuss with it. I think the fence is one of the best out there with competion from Dewalt and Ridgid. Dewalts rack and pinion fence is accurate when it works, I had problems with it locking up and getting out of alignment.
br /
br /I can't comment on durability yet because I haven't had it long enough but like other Bosch tools this is built to take hard use.
br /
br /So far, very happy with it and impressed by performance. Don't expect the performance of a $1800 cabinet saw, this is a job site saw and is a much lighter duty machine.

Would have rated this saw 5 stars except for a major issue with durability. The bushings that travel along the vertical adjustment rails are made of aluminum and wear out in very short order. The result is binding when attempting to raise the blade. Forcing the matter will result in breaking the assembly that raises the blade. Our local tool repair guy sees two or three of these a week and says some have come back 2 or 3 times. Bosch has warranteed these repairs but has not improved the faulty part or issued a recall that we are aware of. This is pretty disappointing coming from a company as respectable as Bosch.Really, this WOULD be a primo saw if it weren't for the fact it breaks down regularly. If you don't require reliability this saw is fantastic!

I'm a home remodeler, so I really pay attention to the portability of a job site table saw, as well as its performance. On both of these levels, the Bosch is simply the best. I've used, owned, or researched just about every job site saw out there from the major manufacturers, and side by side, there really is no competition. I know a lot of folks eventually pit the Bosch against the DeWalt, however, I found it impossible to believe that the DeWalt fence system, as smooth as it is, can withstand the day-to-day abuse a job site saw must endure. Yes, the table top of the Bosch is easily marred, and the splitter ain't worth a damn; however, for what it is, and what it is supposed to do, the Bosch is the one to get.
br /
br /Oh yeah, as I stated above, no portable table saw out there, not even the Bosch, merits a 5 star rating. The very nature and purpose of a portable table saw means that some things must be sacrificed in its engineering and construction, usually on the performace end, or on the portability end (sometimes both!) It just seems crazy to me to expect the performance of a cabinet saw when portability is required as well. Something's gotta give!!!

I had several cherry trees fall in the hurricaines three years ago, and I took the logs to a sawmill. Some of the resulting boards were 2.5 inches thick by 14 inches wide. I made a sled with a straight edge to put one straight edge on the slabs and ran it thru my Bosch 4000. I flipped the slab and put the other edge on the slab then cut them lengthwise in half. The saw put up with this without a stall or complaint. Then I did something the saw was not designed to do; I ripped these 8 foot by 2.5 inch by 6 inch slabs on edge. That is, I resawed them. First, one cut hidden 3 1/8 inch then flipped over to complete the cut. That's tough work, and it handled it well.
br /I had to plane the results to get finished boards, but I expected to anyways. I used the Dewalt 735 for that (another + review) and then TG with a Porter Cable router.
br /The floor is layed and sanded. I'm waiting for the cherry to darken. From tree to floor...a lot of work and not as efficient as factory made, but more satisfying and the Bosch did its work well.

This is my first Bosch tool, and I feel compelled to share my opinion with you. If the need for a portable saw is your issue, than you have found the right one. Though there are smaller and lighter "bench top" saws, you won't find the features that you get in this class. The accuracy of the 4000 is exceptional right out of the box (which arrived in perfect condition). The rip fence is parallel to the blade and sturdy. The quality of this saw compares to contractor style saws with the exception of lacking a large cast iron table which is not why your interested in this model anyway. The soft start is a nice feature compared to the jolt that the dewalt offers upon start up. The motor delivers more power than my not-so-old craftsman contractor saw. The Bosch has ripped through some of the densest hardwoods available. I am not impressed with the miter gauge, the positive stop system has a poor design. However, you can probably find a quality replacement for it if your so inclined. The saw is a little heavy but not much different than its competition. I purchased the 4000-07 with the folding steel stand because the price at the time was unbelievable. The only inconvenience is the fence falling out of its "holder" on the side of the saw when you pick it up by the built in "handles" unless of course you leave your arms extended out and keep the saw parallel to the ground. I would recommend the gravity rise stand if your budget allows to make this saw the ultimate in portability and ease of set up.

The short warranty on this motor was a good idea from Bosch perspective. This motor can not handle hardwood very well. It burned up three weeks after the warranty expired. Bosch couldn't care less. Buy something else.

This is an excellent saw and probably the best in its category but I outgrew it quickly and had to upgrade. Basically, if you need a table saw with mobility, this is the one to get. As for me, I started out doing remodelling projects on the house and it was great to be able to easily move it out in the yard to do all my cuts. however, i'm now getting into woodworking and although it can probably do the job, I find i need a bit more heft and size. If you are like my situation, opt for a contractor saw from the start. I will just cost a little more but you will be set. 3 stars due to the high cost. for just a little more money you can have a much better saw much better fence. the only advantage to this saw is the small size and mobility.

This is a great portable saw for taking along to remodel jobsites, especially when you have to set up shop and break down everyday. It's accurate enough to do site-built cabinets with acceptable tolerances. The only problem I have, as do so many others who have this saw, is with blade changes. I finally took the blade cover off, pulled out my Rotozip, and whacked off the offending portion of the blade guard just enough to be able to clear the blade, and reinstalled the blade cover. Works like a charm, and no more frustrations. And it doesn't throw that much more saw dust around than before. I usually attach an 8-gal. shop vac to pick up most of the dust on jobsites. It does a good enough job and keeps my customers happy when they don't see all that dust blowing all over the place.

After initial setup and checking the factory settings, only minor adjustments were needed before this saw was used for the first time today. I was thoroughly impressed with its features and performance. The fence is truly amazing to use and is as accurate as any I have used, the SOFT START motor with the electronic feedback does EXACTLY what it is supposed to do. I am using this saw for contracting and I can only expect that this unit will be with me quite a long time as its quality is immediately obvious, even the blade (which I expected to replace immediately) is better than expected and did not tear-out while cutting maple plywood. Bosch has a good thing here and I will be looking at many of their other products for future purchases. Well, I have used this saw almost every day the past two weeks and like if more each day. I would say that the dust collection, even with a 6 horsepower Shop Vac hooked up to it, is not stellar but it is better than nothing (the optional bag is still a worthwhile purchase). I can't wait to pick up the 10" double bevel slider next.

I have used, or helped hold wood for someone, on a table saw or two. I set up the saw (stand, supports, too) slowly , about 3 hours, as I am not experienced and rushing with power tools combined with inexperience is dangerous. I made sure all was calibrated. All was true from factory. The stand is very strong. The supports are good, too. I ripped one 6 ft. mahgony decking to 3" from 3 1/2" and the 3" was on. . Beautiful! Cut like soft butter. Today I cut some slightly warped 1/2" ply. A nice job. No problem. The saw is quiet, powerful and sturdy. Here, at Amazon, for the next month, you can knock off 25 on any tool purchase of 199 or better. It helps as 500 is big bucks. I have seen $200 saws and this is far better. A well made, powerful, tool is safer and will not waste a good piece of wood. In other words, 16 is 16, not 15 & 15/16.I ordered the saw from Amazon on 2/22 and it arrived on 2/25 Fedex. Free shipping, 3 days at 104 lbs. Nice. (It was supposed to be 5-7 days, which for free shipping is fine; so I may have been lucky) Wear safety eye protection...always!!!! Make or buy the push sticks, blocks or whatever safety helpers are suggested.Scott

br /This is the smoothest most accurate portable table saw I have ever used.
br /
br /Its powerful, well built and very well thought out.
br /The fence is of excellent design with a positive square lock every time.
br /Blade changes are almost too easy and controls are simple and durable.
br /The only improvement I would make would be to add a blade height adjustment lock which it lacks, otherwise a flawless design by Bosch.
br /
br /The fold up stand is sturdy and well designed,it snap locks up and folds down very effortlessly, folds almost flat and takes up less space then the gravity stand with the wheels.

Only had it for a few weeks now, but I can't imagine a better contractor saw. Came with the side and rear supports which aren't as solid as a cabinet saw of course - but if you don't have the room for one, this has got to be one of the best alternatives. The top does scratch very easily, but it's a SAW. It's not supposed to be pretty.

I use this saw everyday. I like it.
br /It starts and runs smooth. Easy to maintain.
br /The guard works very well.
br /The fence is easy to align well.
br /With a vacuum attached to the rear port, it makes little mess.
br /Minor complaints: Could have a bigger on/off switch, that I can easily turn off with my knee.
br /The miter slots need improvement: they should fit the miter better, and it would be nice if the slots were 't' shaped.
br /Would also recommend the gravity rise stand, as the saw is large and heavy, and takes time to safely set up.

I own this saw. I have probably used every table saw out there. The only problem with this saw is that it is heavy and big compared with a lot of ohter saws. It has good features, side and back extensions. Nice fence. I like the ryobi too. It is lot cheaper, light has decent power but it is not built as good as this one, interms of physical product quality. Most table saws have decent power for ripping for rough framing. This one has a bigger table, which I can use for cabinetry and finish work. this was also rated the best in FWW.

Should have bought the base w/ casters. This model is the envy of every contractor who has used it. "That'll be my next table saw" is what they say. The soft start is a nice feature as the lights don't dim when the motor is fired-up. Saw does not bog under heavy loads. Would prefer either a steel top or a higher quality aluminum rather than soft cast aluminum. Any metal shavings or nails left in boards easily gouge the surface.
If it had the rack and pinion feature it'll be the perfect table saw!!!

No complains after first month of use.I'll pay another 100 dollars for it if it had (like the dewalt does) the rack and pinion fence mechanism.

I've used the comparable DeWalt and have concluded that the Bosch is far better in almost every detail. Mine came shipped complete and intact, with all related accessories within 5 days of ordering. The fence was substantial and accurate right out of the box. I've mostly ripped pine, poplar and 1" birch ply - no hardwoods - but it's been more than up to the task and cuts bautifully- a 60 tooth blade produces no tearout, burns or machine marks.
br /I would love to have a cabinet saw, but until I get the shop space in which to use one, this is the next best thing for me. I can easily haul it up the stairs and use it outside, or rough cut sheet goods with a circular sawand take 'em downstairs to the saw to true 'em up. It's a winner. Except the miter gauge which is a tad lame and sloppy. No T-slots in the table top- if I had one complaint that'd have to be it.

I needed a saw for ripping down Ipe' 5/4 for a deck I built in 2004 and did my research and decided on this saw. The fence was out of alignment from the start, but a quick adjustment with the allan wrench and it was on point. No big deal. It cruised through the Ipe' with no problems. The best feature is the sliding fence with nice positive lockdown. This saw has seen moderate to heavy use since 2004 and it has held up nicely. Very nice stand also. I am tempted to shoot for the one with wheels, but it really isn't that bad to pack.

I paid a little extra for this table saw over lesser models and have never regretted it. I've had great luck with nice precision cuts. The rip fence locks into place on both the front and back of the table. There are extending arms to increase the effective table size.
br /
br /I also enjoy it's portability. The stand folds up, making transportation a breeze. The saw has built in storage for the rip fence, push bar, extra blades, and a wrench (to change the blade).
br /
br /And, I did not know the slow start was a feature, however, I have always enjoyed the quiet start-ups. It starts slow, then ramps up speed into a nice hum. It does not have the crazy noise volume of the old shop table saws in high school.

Had this saw for a year. Well aligned and well functioning out of the box. Purchased a high end blade and dado's and this baby cuts perfectly and repeatedly for what I need. I have removed, tilted, reinstalled, removed again, the blade and have yet to be disappointed. Have made custom shelves, small table, brackets, ripped to custom fit wainscoating and it has worked great. For a home project, this has been good for me. I researched a number of units and this one was the right price. I have not been disappointed. I find the blade guard to be distracting and the need to purchased a dato insert to be a bit irritating ... otherwise, it would have gotten 5 stars. If you want your first table saw .... this is it

This saw is everything I need. The fence is super accurate. The blade is easy to change. The on board blade and tool holding compartment is a nice touch. I like this stand over the rolling one since it's often easier for me to carry the saw and stand separately and is more compact. It also has plenty of power and smooth operation.

Excellent saw. The fence is dead-on for a portable. The drawback for me is the stand. The saw is a pretty good weight, so the gravity rise stand would have been better for my old bones. This saw consistantly does well in product reviews, and I can see why. I am just not sure if I would pay over $500.00 for it though. I bought this saw for $319.00 w/free shipping. If you can get it on sale, it's a heck of a deal.

I'm a amateur woodworker with a small two car garage for a workshop. Since my wife insists on parking her car in the garage at night, I don't have a lot of room left for woodworking. Therefore I chose a benchtop over the larger table saw that I really wanted. I've owned this tool for five years now, and it has performed flawlessly. I've run lots of wood through this machine and it always comes back for more. I've installed wood floors, built cabinets, and performed other odd jobs with this saw without failure. The only way this tool could ever disappoint anyone is if it were heavily abused. I also own a Bosch jig saw and Bosch router and found them to be absolutely top notch tools. I also own DeWalt, Jet, Delta, and other brand name tools with varying degrees of satisfaction. In comparison, I would recommend Bosch products without hesitation.

I bought this saw when I started remodeling my house a couple years ago and use it all the time. I absolutely love it. The only thing I have changed is I bought a really high quality blade to make cuts on hardwood flooring. If I had to do it again I would get the wheeled stand though.

Pros: Very portable & fairly accurate
Cons: Motor has burned out twice in 3 yrs

I am a remodeler & handyman and use this saw occasionally. It as accurate enough for construction use but doesn't produce great results on finer work. I had the saw less than 1 yr. and had used it for small jobs only a few times and the motor burned out. I was able to have it repaired under warranty but now 2 1/2 years later the motor burnt out again. I don't use this saw regularly and for what I paid for it I believe it should be more reliable and durable than it is. For what it is going to cost to repair this saw I can replace it with a new one of another brand for not much more money. After owning a Bosch reciprocating saw and this table saw, neither of which lived up to the brand reputation, I am not sure I will ever own a Bosch too again.

I have had this saw for 4 years now and it has standed up to a pretty heavy beating of lugging it around and cutting wood. But, this thing is heavy. It's heavy in the morning when I start a job and heavier at quitting time. If you get it, buy the stand with the wheels, but for those of us with bad backs I would recommend the Makita and you will save a few bucks too. The performance in my opinion is almost the same.

It works just as I expect it to. Powerful, stable, accurate and very well built. I use it in my house remodelling accompanied by a Dewalt 12" CMS. The stand is heavier than I expected looking at the web photo. I would advise buyers to take off the blade guard, it limits the minimum cutting width to about 1 inch. With the blade guard off, the saw acts more like what I expect from a table saw. Of course, for those concerned about safety, please watch your fingers or use a sacrificial push stick.

This is a great saw with ease of use. It's a little more expensive than alot of jobsite table saws, but this one can come home with you and handle most tasks with ease.If your looking for a cabinet makers saw, this is probably not it, it is capable but you'll have to shell out alot more cash than this. Over all a great saw well beyond the competitors models.

i have owned this saw for 2 years. last week i was using the was to cut oak flooring and burned the motor out. i brought it down to the local repair shop thinking it woulf only cost 100 or so. iwas told that because of all the fancy electronics in the motor that it could cost several hundred dollers. as it turns out the fan that keeps the motor cool acualy sucks saw dust in right frim the blade,(i normoly blow off all my tools dayly). I thru the bosch away and bought a dewalt(i saw told you can buy a hole new motor of a little over 100 dollers, you cant even buy a complete bosch motor)

The depth ajustment wheel got some saw dust stuck under it and cracked off the aluminum housing (next to the two plastic gears on the underside of the saw). I'm a GC and demand a lot of my tools. This table saw failed miserablely. The little 8 1/4" makita saw I owned before it had stood up to over 10 years of job site abuse.

I like writing about things that I puchase online because if you do your homework, no cheating now boys or girls, you get to know a deal when you see one and belive me I did see it at the "Orange Box Store" as they now rent this magnificent work tool out for a huge price of $12.00 a day. What they try to sell you is another thing or two different than John Bosch. Most of the real employee's don't know the difference between cast Iron and Aluminum that is power coated or just what that means either. It has taken me close to Fifteen years to buy a table saw and this is with resistance to alot of outside forces that are not worth mentioning other than they were their.
br / When the BOSCH 4000-07 10" Worksite Table Saw arrived I pulled it out of the Box and that took 20 minutes as it is well packaged and did well in shipment. I should warn you that you should recycle all the styrofoam as it gives good money to the city or manicapality that does the work were you live. Lots of good styrofoam of high quality too. You will have to be ingenious about getting one particular block around the motor and saw.
br / If you become frustated with the stryofoam you can always assemble the table as this is always fun to do until you turn over the saw and reach in and take the block out after tilting the saw blade and freeing the block. The legs come seperate and must be assembled to reach a proper height. Once you have the table assembled you can then lift it into the height that it was to be used to place the saw on. This table is not really adjustable for tall people but for the rest of us it fits just fine. I'm 5'7" amd find it to work out fine for myself.
br / If you rip or do alot of cut for lenght routine then please put the safety guards and leave it alone. Your use of the saw will be for a job site saw and nothing else. However if you build things like I do then take the Guard off and use it only when you are using it as a jobsite saw.
br / A tennon setup will work in this saw like Delta or other copies that work just as well but you must use sacrafical material that equals 1-1/2" to the blade.
br / Read the Manual as much as possable and get in touch with Bosch on line or with their 800's number if anything you need to know or does go wrong. The really good thing to have is a vacume hooked up as the 4 H.P. motor really throws out the sawdust. It is a work horse after all and will live up to it too. I truely belive that this was the best that I can do for myself to buy this tool. Others might find it to light or not steady enough to do real work but I belive that this tool will do the job that you intend to do with it and will be an excelent first Table Saw for anyone who does wood working. Truely this is a beginning step for some people who don't wish to spend an "Arm and a Leg" to get to know what an important Tool for the work shop is. Limited space and all this could be used and placed out of the way when not in use. That is what I intend to do when not in use. Just so most people know some table saws of heaver and less protable means end up as another work surface. Indeed the work sufaces of all workbenches and other tools should be the same height as the table saw in an ideal situation but a worksite saw fits in anywere.
br /Working within the line and not outside of them I have never had any BOSCH TOOL FAIL TO LIVE UP TO THE STANDARDS THAT THE COMPANY HAS SET FOR THE QUALITY OF THEIR PRODUCTS OR SATIFACTION OF THE CUSTOMER WHO EITHER MAKES A LIVING FROM THE USE OF THEIR PRODUCTS OR IS SATISFIED WITH THE WORK DONE FOR THE SAKE OF DO A JOB WELL DONE. One bad review isn't to do all or end all of a good tool company.
