I consider myself to be an intermediate woodworker. Using various joints including dovetails, mitres, and other multifaced joints in my work. I bought the 4410l to do a house full of baseboard and some crown moulding and am very pleased with the performance of this saw. Right out of the box, which arrived in only 4 days, the saw produced machinist square cuts and absolutely "light tight" crown cuts. ALL angles came dead accurate from the factory. The laser is just a wow factor and the dust collection isn't the greatest but the cuts this slider makes are a thing of beauty and ease, even with the supplied blade. I honestly don't understand the negative reviews about accuracy with this unit. I have the 10" Bosch contractors saw and its performance was what led me to this sliding mitre saw, Bosch was up to the task again. Fit,finish, upfront controls, the micro fine adjustment was wonerful on the crown cuts,...all great. This is good saw and I recommend it highly.

dont believe the negative reviews - this is one excellent tool

i was dissapointed to read the negative reviews by others regarding this great tool. i am replacing a makita ls 1013 saw with this one, i have been using the makita brutally for about five years (finish work, cabinets, framing) - it has been great but i was never satisfied with how difficult it was to square the fence to the blade - the adjustment always needed to re re-adjusted; the dual slides became very dirty and difficult to operate and the miter pivot got clogged a lot.

i am impressed with the quality of features and the thoughtfulness of the levers, guages, etc. on the bosch 4410. i really like the way the motor is placed up behind the blade, keeping it out of the way. the saw has tons of power - scary power really. i had heard that there was a lot of plastic on the bosch saws - not so. there is of course some - but most everything is quality machined aluminum - very nice. most of the knobs and pins are coated with a plastic or rubber. all the controls are up front and very intuitive. i really like the operational instructions on a sticker on the saw - very easy to follow. the fact that the two extension wings slide out from the base of the saw is really nice - i was always hunting for those bar supports on the makita.

the saw came securely boxed wrapped in a durable plastic sheet. cut perfectly the first time. i love the high level of visability to either side of the blade and the pivoting top handle is a nice addition.

in short, i could not be more pleased with the quality, function, accuracy and finish of this saw. i tested the squareness of the blade - it was dead on right out of the box. I love the micro adjust feature as well - beats a hammer and a block of wood.

the folks at bosch have really produced a quality machine that i am sure will last for years to come.

if i could give it six stars i would. again, dont be swayed by the negative reviews - i am not sure where that came from...

I had a 10 inch Delta dual bevel compound miter saw for several years, but wanted to buy a slider to increase the cross cut capacity. I also did a bit of research like others who have reviewed this saw. It seems a few years ago many saws had trouble with play in the sliding mechanism, but that seems to have been resolved for the most part in the new saws. Some of the negative reviews here scared me a bit, but I was convinced to buy this saw after reading a saw to saw comparison of six sliding compound miter saws (SCMS) in Fine Woodworking (October 2006). This saw was their top pick so, I decided to purchase from Amazon. If you are considering buying a 10 inch SCMS, I highly recommend reading the review in Fine Woodworking. The review gives a detailed comparison of the saws using identical cutting tests.

The saw arrived via UPS without any problems. I checked all angles for accuracy with set up, and everything was dead on right out of the box. No adjustments for my saw! The blade is high quality - about the level of a CMT blade, but probably not up to Forrest blade standards. Yes, the dust collection is about average, but I have not seen a saw that collects anywhere near all the dust produced. The one negative is the laser. It is not accurate, so do not expect it to be. If you need a saw that has an accurate laser, this is not it. However, I have read the only saw that does have an accurate laser is the Delta 12 inch chop saw. Delta no longer makes a SCMS. So, it seems right now no one offers a SCMS with an accurate laser.

So, bottom line, this is a great saw, that easily has 12 inch crosscut capacity (my old delta was only about 4.5 inch capacity. Another great feature to keep in mind is the up front bevel lock, rather than the lock being placed in the back of the saw table as most brands do. My saw was ready out of the box.

Let me start off by saying I'm not a cabinet maker of 20 years nor a sun tanned construction worker on my sixth miter saw. I can't tell you about cut comparisons and won't try to sway you on accessories I know nothing about. This is my first miter saw and I thought I might be able to help someone in the same boat. I knew nothing about miter saws so I started a two month long search that included the internet, magazines, and local store visits. Like most (all) items everyone has a favorite but like cream some names always rise to the top. The majority of the tool reviews put Makita and Bosch at the top of the miter saw list. Many customer reviews also found favorites in DeWalt, Delta, Hitachi, Milwaukee and, Ridgid. I don't really care about the names since I own products from many of the above. My only criteria for this selection was to avoid my greatest fear "Buyers Remorse".
br /After doing my homework I sat down with the information gathered and had to decide what type of saw met my needs.
br /-My table saw has a 10 inch blade so why not stick with this size? - cut capacity
br /-Can cut capacity be increased without going to a larger blade? - slider
br /-How about a laser? - why not?
br /-Dual bevel? - almost standard
br /-Ease of use? - proper adjustment location with precision movement. good manual
br /So it was going to be a 10 inch dual bevel compound slider with laser.
br /This combination pretty much left me with the Hitachi, the Makita and, the Bosch. From my review reading I narrowed the selection down to Makita or Bosch but I wanted to see all three in person first. I could not find the 10 inch Bosch in my area so I checked out the 12 inch in its place. If price and availability were not an issue the Bosch would win hands down. I may not have know anything about miters but I knew quality when I saw it. The Bosch appeared to be better built, certainly had a better layout and had a smoother action than the other two. My choice seemed to be a no brainer until Amazon offered the Makita at a very hard to pass up price the same day I was going to make my move. I ran back to the store to take another look at the Makita, thought about "Buyers Remorse" and ordered the Bosch. I ordered it from Amazon because of the price and it was not available locally. It arrived in good shape and thank god it had a good manual because I didn't have a clue as to what to do with it. After much reading, I mounted the saw on a Delta miter saw stand, nice stand, good price at Lowe's. I had to make a small blade adjustment to get it plumb and I was up and running. The included Bosch blade is decent but I replaced it with an Infinity "Miter Max" and all is well (I'll keep the Bosch blade for back-up).
br /After a lot of playing and a few home projects you may ask about "buyers Remorse" - Not here - not with this saw!
br /
br /Update: After a full year of use and many projects later I'm still very happy with this purchase. I do agree that dust collection additions are a must and the laser site is only to be used for quick rough cuts, but I think this is true on all miter saws. You should also invest in a top-notch quality blade. Great saw!

For every one out there, the Bosch 4410L is a great saw.
Pro
-On board tool storage for adjustments and blade change
-Up front release for bevel/compound cuts and a max bevel override that does not require you to true it 45 degrees afterward, like the Hitachi C10FSH
-Quick and fine adjustment for depth of cut
-Standard adjustable table extension
-Adjustable trigger handle
-Miter scale is cast (not a sticker like Hitachi C10FSH
-When truing the saw use machinist squares/triangles or a quality combination square and the settings will REMAIN TRUE by far longer than the Hitachi 10" or the Dewalt 12" slide compound
-ect........
Con
-the laser is a 1/32 away from the actual cut and is only active while the blade is spinning
-dust collection is ok but, what slide compound has great dust collection?
-Read the instructions before using the micro adjustment knob
-6 pounds heavier than the Hitachi C10FSH
-you will have to replace the blade

I've owned the Dewalt 12", Hitachi 10" and recently the Bosch 10" slide compound and it is by far the best saw out of the three I've used.
In general the saw is a little complicated but read the directions and you'll be happy.

I have never owned a Bosch tool before but was looking to upgrade my 10" miter saw with a slider. I struggled with the decision to get a 10 or 12 inch and settled on this 10. I chose it over the 12 for several reasons. It's lighter, blades are cheaper, the saw is cheaper, smaller blades have less deflection, not a huge cutting advantage in the larger 12". The saw definitely a quality piece of machinery and cuts extremely well. Other reviewers hacked on the stock blade and accuracy but I found both exceptional. The sliding mechanism is smooth and slop free, the blade has no bearing movement as older versions had a concern with. I love the laser for many cuts but don't use it if I am looking to be within 1/32nd. The switch handle is 3 position adjustable for different grips, table is smooth with solid detents, well written owners manual, up front controls, nice fence and extensions, onboard tool storage, nice quick clamp system, well positioned carry handles, the saw is well marked with how to stickers. I didn't find anything on this saw that didn't work the way it was suppose to or felt cheaply made. I almost went with the Makita because some of the "pros" didn't like this saw, I'll never look back.

After a whole lot of research on a lot of different brands of dual bevel miter saws Bosch came out on top for a number of reasons. The quality is top notch, it came out of the box staight and dialed in and needed no adjustments. I put it on a Craftsman stand and put it right to work. The saw performed perfectly and with out any problems I cut and installed all of my case mouldings. being that not all angles are created equal the fine adjustment feature came in very handy. The only complaint I have is the dust bag is not very useful...so I attached my shop vac to the dust bag port and solved almost all the dust problems. Bosch really delivered on the 4410L and I want to thank all of the folks that reviewed it.

I'm an Engineer who does woodworking as hobby. But I didn't buy this saw to use it for my hobby. I got it, because I'm adding an addition to my house and plan to use it for the trim carpentry (that I'm going to do). I needed a miter saw that could be moved from room to room (my tablesaw is just plain to big to be moved around). So I looked at the 12 inch miter saws, and when you look at how much they cut vs a sliding compound, it just seemed stupid to not spend the extra $100 to $150 and get a 10" sliding compound - you get more cutting capacity for your money. Plus I think if I use the saw enough I'll save the extra dollars purely on using my current 10" saw blades from my tablesaw.
br /
br /Anyway, the saw came ok (it's a big box - about 3 x 2 x 2). Mine came UPS, and the box was somewhat frayed on the edges, but otherwise ok. Be carefull taking it out of the box, as the recomended way to carry it is not the easy way to get it out of the box (I recommend you download the users manual from the Bosch website to see how to carry it). Its a heavy sucker - 44lbs, but the heaviness helps you when you use the saw - it tends to stay where put (if you take reasonable care not to jerk the blade head around.)
br /
br /I like a lot of people seem to be able to figure out how to put together a tool without the manual. Not this one. Even though there's not much to do to put it together, the different parts and gizmos aren't easy to find and/or figure out just by looking at. If you used a compound miter saw I think it would be easy. This is my first one, so alot of the terminology I'm not familiar with. The Bosch manual is top notch. They use simple line drawings and have a clearly written step by step procedure on how to do the adjustments and use the saw.
br /
br /The saw did not cut a straight 90 degrees. It was off, I guess about 1 degree. You'd think thats not much, but on a 1 inch x 1 inch, the eye can pick it up - and using a square it stands out. The adjustment to make it square took me about 20 minutes and required me to go from back to the front several times. Also, when I "calibrated" (bosch's term for tunning) it, and then tightened up the various set screws and bolts, it was still off. So I did that twice, and it was still off, so I finally over adjusted and it was real close after tightening it up. Now the adjustments impressed me as they are several 1/2" bolts and a big set screw- so they seem to be extremely 'well engineered'. I put the "well engineered" in quotes to point out that only time will tell.
br /
br /My base on the saw didn't sit flush on the table, one of the legs was off about 1/8 inch - so I just put a piece of wood to level it out.
br /
br /Another adjustment I had to do, was the miter lock. It took too much force to lock it in. I had to hold the miter saw with my other hand to steady it when locking it in (pushing it down). I believe it should be tight, but that was too much. But amazingly the Bosch 4410l had a adjustment for that - on many saws that degree of adjustment just doesn't exist.
br /
br /After the above adjustments the saw checked out on all other ajustments. Now, you might think because it needed adjustment that this might be a negative. When I think about all the possible things that can happen to a package that ships by air and then by truck, I don't think its that all unlikely that it might arrive needing adjustment. In fact doing the adjustments is a good introduction to the saw for one that's not familiar in using a miter saw.
br /
br /In use, I've yet to use it for any real work. But I cut about twenty pieces at 90 degree and left/right 45 degree and they check out perfectly with a Starret square. I've yet to do any compound cut tests, but I don't think I'll find any problem.
br /
br /One of the doodads that's hard for me to figure out, is the compound left/right knob. It seems to want to detent for the left ok, but the detent for the right needs you to tilt the saw to the right slightly before the detent catch's. A minor problem, but kind of frustrating if you aren't aware of it - to be honest I'm wouldn't be surprised if the manual explains that.
br /
br /Now to go over the rest of the stuff. Its fit and finish is excellent, much metal where it needs to be, much soft plastic for easy on the hands, and many neat extras (like a good sturdy hold down clamp and nice adjustable tall fence). The up front controls as mentioned by others I've almost overlooked. The question is why would you put the controls anywhere else? One more thing, the laser was packed seperately and took about 5 minutes to put on (you have to wedge it under the safety shield to get it on).
br /
br /All in all its a 4 star rating I'm giving, not so much for the minor challenges that I described above but because I can't tell you how it works day in day out on a weekend (or longer) job. This is where the true testing starts. The stuff I did, is sort of just getting off of the starting line. However, knowing Bosch I bet it'll get that last star.
br /
br /I appreciated the other reviews, I hope my 2cents answers any questions you might still have. Good luck and be safe when you get yours.

I am amazed there is such a difference of opinion about this saw. In my case, it required only minor adjustment right out of the box. After several months of use, the saw still cuts dead-on 90 degrees without any adjustment. I especially like the micro adjustment feature and use it frequently. Some complaints such as dust collection and less than premium saw blade are common to most saw brands. Really, to effectively collect fine dust from a miter saw you need to fit a dust hood behind the saw hooked to a very powerful dust collector. I agree with most of the positive comments other reviewers have made about the saw and would certainly buy it again.

Bosch spent a good bit of time making this saw ease to use and adjust, and as a left-hander, this is the first in recent memory that makes the cut easy to do with the left hand _without_ a vertical handle. In fact, the main handle can be oriented just about however you like.

Cutting and accuracy were very good right out of the box. I was within a half degree of square and plumb according to my Starrett, and the instructions with the saw made it easy to adjust. Common miter and bevel angles are accurate.

The upfront controls for the bevel are a little bit soft - a multiposition knob feels a little vague when setting, but that is a relatively minor nit. The laser sight is decent, but it is only really accurate at a given height above the piece - I rely on it only for initial sighting.

The enclosed blade works well - I would recommend a Forrest blade or ther comprable replacement made for the saw as an upgrade. Definitely takes the cut to a new level of smoothness.

I have had this saw several months now, and their hasn't been a letdown in the quality of the cuts.

I have used this saw extensively since purchasing it several months ago, and it is a dream. Easy to set up, easy to make alignment adjustments, and has relatively good dust control. I didn't particularly care for the Bosch blade (comes standard), and replaced it with a Forrest; it makes very clean cuts and requires no jointing, planing or sanding.

The only feature I disliked was the miter scale; its a piece of plastic that is not fastened permanently to the except by two screws. Very flimsy and cheap. Should be covered by a piece of clear formed plastic. I still give the 4410L a 5-star rating, its all I could want or ask for in a miter saw and then some!

Dust collection on this miter saw, as in all others, is horrible. Bosch engineers could easily improve this by making a rubber boot that attaches to the back of the blade housing, which would divert the dust & chips into the dust chute. I made on from a bicycle tire; works great! If the blade hit it, the rubber would cut away and not be a safety hazard, and I don;t breathe the dust.

Are you feeling lucky?

Reading all these five star reviews makes me jealous. I'm a professional carpenter and there's a lot I love about this saw: the upfront controls, the table extensions that are perfecly in plane with the table, the tall sliding fences, the smooth, quiet motor... I'll never be totally happy with a saw that doesn't have those features. But I'm sure not happy with mine. It has the dreaded wavy cut syndrome. It's not caused by sloppy sliders as some reviewers have speculated. The problem is when the plane of the blade is not perfecly in line with the direction of the slide. Everything on the saw can be adjusted except that. If you get one do some test cuts on some wide stock right away. Chop it close in, then fully extended. Do you see a sawtooth in your cut? When you slide cut do you get any burn marks on the sides of the cut or a wavy cut? I did, and I took mine to a factory service center. They said the put a lot of new parts in it and checked it out but guess what. It still won't cut right. If you get a good one you'll love it, if you don't, send it back!

I bought this saw a few months ago and just finally got to really use it. I installed crown molding in my dining room and living room and the saw worked great. Nice smooth and clean cuts. Even with the stock blade. I did spend about 1/2 hour checking to make sure everything was true. I did have to make a few small adjustments but for the most part it was dead on. I didn't give 5 stars because I did have a problem cutting the 3 5/8" crown molding at a 45deg R/H angle. The motor would hit the molding and not allow the saw to fully penetrate the wood. I ended up cutting each piece a little longer then my final cut and went back for the 45Deg cut. Not a big issue but is worth noting. I imagine this is a common problem with most 10" saws. The additional cost of a 12" saw in conjunction with the extra cost of blades would not be worth the slight inconvenience of the problem I encountered.

I had my eye on this saw for awhile and finally decided to spend the money. It was well worth it. This is an extremely high quality product. Every aspect of this saw is adjustable to give you accuracy. Setup was time consuming but worth the effort. I had a hard time deciding on this saw or a non sliding miter saw and im glad i bought this one. The larger capacity is nice to have as i dont have to use my table saw as much. I use this saw for finish work as well as more accurate work like furniture. Works great for both. The free jig saw is nice too!!

I want to think I got a lemon because I would hate to think that Bosch would mass produce a saw like the one I got. The problem was in the casting of the cast-iron base of the saw. All of the detents for the angle stops are cast right into the metal base and are not adjustable.
When I got the saw, the fence needed adjusting to bring it to square... not a big deal. The left miter was dead on (sort of, I'll explain below), but the right was out by over a full degree, which is fine... unless you take pride in your work and want it to look good. Bosch put in a fine adjustment knob to make up for casting errors but when you're trying to make a living, speed is as important as accuracy and consistency and you don't have time to fine adjust every 45 you have to cut.
The "sort of" above was because of the way the catch fits into the detent. There is a lot of slop. It's not a tight fit. Don't get me wrong, the saw has a lot of great features, but it's nothing without accuracy. I guess thats the risk you take when you get a tool over the internet. Bosch makes great tools. I have their circ saw, sawsall, colt palm router, jigsaw, and impacter and love all of them. I'm going to check the floor models at local tool stores and see if I got a lemon or if all of the saws are that sloppy.

I bought the Bosch 4410L because I wanted a high-quality cross cutting saw. I figure about 80% of my cuts are crosscuts of 12" or less. So I set up the saw right next to my assembly bench where I can just swing over and make the cut. It's much faster to set up and safer than a table saw for these cuts.

This saw has proved to be a great cross-cutter. It was set-up for perfect right angles right out of the box. Cross and miter cuts are easy to set up and can be made very accurately.

I advise watching the video by Gary Katz called, "Mastering the Miter Saw", if you haven't had a lot of experience with this tool. The saw has a lot of potential that can only be realized after some instruction.

The user will also want to make a base extension so that repetitive cuts can be made on long pieces. Katz has plans for one and there are others available from Wood Magazine.

Further improvements include upgrading to a 80T blade for even better performance. This is a high-quality saw and one of the best power tool investments I've made.

I had been considering a new miter saw for some time. I not only do some fine woodworking as a hobby, but I do quite a bit of yacht remodeling as a profession, so the compound saw with an extended range of angle cuts and the compound feature were very attractive. I suppose the decision process was finalized by the article in Fine Woodworking magazine, who rated this saw the best buy.
The saw arrived from Amazon.com when they said it would. The size of the box was intimidating, but it proved to be very well packaged. I removed the saw and began checking the accuracy of the settings. It was necessary to re-position the fence to be perfectly square to the travel of the blade, but it is easy to do, and ALL the tools you need to keep the saw adjusted are included, and they stow onboard the saw - just good design. I have used it from the moment it arrived. It is a joy. The blade that is supplied is a very good one, by the way - so you can check off at least [..]to [..] worth of value in the price of the tool, compared to having to purchase a new one had they not seen fit to supply a good blade as standard equipment. All the other settings were spot on, so there was no delay. I especially like the taller fence, the outboard supports that hide out of the way. If you work with crown moulding, there are special markings and detents for making all the needed cuts. For me, being able to miter up to 60 degrees right, and 50 plus to the left is a great time saver when working on boats. The ability to cut off more than 12" is an advantage, and I am able to cut 24" by turning the workpiece around.
This is a hefty tool, by the way, so if portability is high on your list, something lighter might be considered. All that weight does make a very stable cutting tool, of course.
I am glad I own it.

I feel that you never know the true value of a service until something goes wrong and then see how it's handled.
br /
br /In mid June I ordered a Bosch 4410L compound sliding miter saw from Amazon as it was the best price I found when comparing the price/shipping cost totals. I elected standard delivery. It arrived 3 days later by UPS. The box was battered but the contents were OK.
br /
br /Checking the alignments I found them to be close but were probably shifted during shipping. Going through the setup process in the Bosch manual I could not adjust the right bevel stop adjustment - the adjustment screw was missing.
br /
br /I contacted Amazon customer service and they said to send it back and they are sending out another saw immediately. I returned the saw via UPS. The new saw arrived 4 days later (a weekend was involved). Again, the shipping box was pretty beat up.
br /
br /The new saw set up as described by the manual (it required only a small amount of adjustment) and it performs quite accurately. It has the widest miter and bevel range of all the saws I've seen and used, and all the controls are accessably placed in front of the saw. All of the features Bosch provided seem to be well thought out and work quite well, except the laser cut marker - it is very dim and almost impossible to see, even when using it in shadows - it's almost useless. The blade cuts accurately and cleanly. The sliding motion is also very smooth and I made no attempt to adjust it. I am impressed with it's operation and the only question left to be answered is "longevity."
br /
br /Through this whole episode, Amazon kept all of the billing straight, my credit card was not double charged for the second saw and I was reimbursed for the shipping within a couple of days. I have had other situations where I would be double charged and it would be lengthy process to eventually get it cleared up - it at all. Amazon is to be commended for their customer service processes - 5 star.
br /
br /The only negative comment I have is the condition of the shipping boxes when I received them. The boxes were crunched, holes punctured in the sides and some of the internal foam was also crushed and torn. I makes one wonder how UPS physically handles things and you can envision the cartoon of gorillas working in the back room, loading the trucks.

I have owned this saw for about a month and so far I am pleased with its performance. The saw did require quite a bit of adjusting right out of the box as the bevel settings, and squareness to blade had to be tweaked. The upfront features are very handy and easy to use. Although many of the knobs and levers are made of plastic you do not get the impression that this saw is cheaply made. The stock blade is OK. The parallel sliding mechanism glides smoothly and is very steady. The bevel/angle markings are raised and easy to read. Dust collection was futile with the standard bag that came with the saw. Collection is much improved with the unit now connected to a central dust collector. All in all I am pleased with this saw. Setups for various cuts are quick and convenient and to date the adjustments have held up and the cuts are very accurate.

I am a huge fan of the Makita 10" scms and the Hitachi is pretty nice too, but this saw was what I picked after playing with the upfront controls @ 7corners one day after work. I am really glad I did too as it did not fail to impress.
br /
br /Pros.
br /-Up front Bevel arm (I can't stress how great this is if you are doing lots of bevel cuts)
br /-Handle can re-configured to your liking
br /-Table Extensions that slide away for storage.
br /
br /Cons.
br /-Heavy
br /-Had to dial it in upon arrival (which I probably would have done anyway. However, it was not quite %100 accurate when it came. Now it is (;
br /
br /To sum it up. This is one great saw and the pros outweigh the cons tenfold. Glad I got it.

I bought this saw to install crown moulding, laminate flooring, and to finish my basement. I am a beginner to carpentry. Even though I am a beginner I was able to figure this saw out very quickly. I followed the instructions for setting up the saw and it went very smoothly. This saw is AWESOME!. Everything is so adjustable and easy to use. I looked through many reviews and specs before I purchased and I couldn't be more pleased. If you need a sliding mitre saw you will love this one.

Five-star mark just does not make jusice for this miter saw. Every detail was taken into account when it was designed. Fence is high and dead square to table. Arbor run-out does not exist at all. Saw slides so smooth. Noise level is reduced. Handle with switch are perfectly located. Soft start is integrated, and it definitely contributes for accuracy. Bevel and miter setting were perfect and still perfect after 1-year of use. It so smooth and quite that somebody could think that the saw does not have power. Well, it cuts hard maple 12x2 board like hot knife through butter.
br /Two years ago I have been hesitant in buying 4410L. Eventually, I bought DeWalt703. There is no doubt that it is better to wait 1-6 months and buy 4410L.

I give this saw 5 stars!
*Accuracy
*Ease of use
*Power
*Versatility
*Portability
Out of the box, this saw has exceeded all my expectations. The accuracy and adjustability is only topped by the addition of a laser guide line. The saw is easy to use and maintain, and has more than enough power to cut what you need cut. Sandpaper soft cuts in 3x oak is not usually the story with most saws, but this saw had power to spare! This saw is extremely versatile, easily changing from a chop saw to a sliding saw - from a miter saw to a bevel saw. This saw even does things I did not expect, like cut grooves in boards, because of the adjustable depth stop. Although it would not be a bad idea to have a helper to carry the saw, it was not too bulky to be handled and moved.

I highly recommend this saw. I am not usually this easily swayed (especially at items that cost so much) but this saw is a lifesaver and is worth every penny!

It is a great tool. the factory setting were right on the money.Don't buy it for the laser buy it because it is a good slide miter saw, the laser works poorly it is not worth using it, that is the only reason I rated it with 4 stars

I am a professional trim carpenter. I have used several different slide miter saws and this is definitely the best. The up front controls are great for bevel cuts. The open sight line in the blade guard is a super idea. I'm not so impressed with lasers for accurate cuts, but you can leave it off. This is one nice saw. The only draw back is the weight, but that is a minor issue for a high end saw.

This saw was a huge upgrade from my old Rigid chop saw. The saw is everything that I expected, and is solid. My favorite feature by far is the micro-adjustment knob to fine tune the setup. It really gives you true precision. I now use this saw whenever possible for any cross-cut up to 12". I bought a Freud 80 tooth blade for it, but the factory supplied blade was very close in performance, with glass smooth cuts. Very highly recommended !

Perfectly awesome straight out of the box. This saw was a real upgrade from my last saw, a Delta Sidekick (which did cut a lot of crown and other moulding - I'm going to miss her.) I used this saw first to cut wide base moulding. The cuts were perfectly accurate, which was especially helpful when "back-cutting" the straight section for coped joints. Worth every penny.

I LOVE this saw! It's a dream. Extremly accurate, reliable and the laser feature is a wonderful addition. I dabble in cabinet making and at first thought I had overindulged by buying way too much saw for my use, but I'm glad I did! The only draw back is the poor dust collection feature, but I'm working on ideas to enhance the function. Otherwise I don't think many would be unhappy with the purchase!

After deciding on the 10" instead of the 12", I was very pleased with the weight difference and don't think I'm going to miss the larger capacity. I will be using this saw on site and found it easy to transport. The accuracy seems to be fine as we were installing some large crown molding in a Kitchen and other trim work. I haven't found any drawbacks yet but had to get used to all of the controls. The versatility is truly remarkable. After trying some other saws, I'm very pleased with this selection.

With the free shipping, the price is unbeatable making this is an excellent power tool value. I own other Bosch power tools, some for more than 15 years now. Bosch makes a quality tool. The unit I received cut true right out of the box with no adjustments required. The upfront controls make using this saw easier than other units in this quality level. Although this Bosch saw is an industry standard the laser feature is not for fine work, and I find it to be a distraction. I plan to remove it. This tool is heavy and the slide action creates a moment about the base. Make or buy a stand; this saw needs to be firmly planted for best performance. The one complaint I have with this amazon purchase is that the box was completely destroyed upon delivery. I was concerned that pieces would be missing. The foam insert is tougher than I expected. Everything remained intact, just looked bad.

Everything on this saw was extremely well thought out. Great product. Laser does take a little while to get used to, but it is a helpful rough guide. I would still recommend sighting with the actual blade for precision cuts. Would recommend this saw to anyone who is willing to sacrifice a bit of portability for all the other features you could want.

I bought this upon recommendation from my brother in law, and am really pleased with the purchase. I upgraded from a 12" Porter Cable 3802L to this slider. I kept the 12" around to do some crown molding, but found that I liked using the Bosch better. I bought the optional crown stops and they make crown molding easy. The setup did require a couple minor modifications out of the box, but after that the accuracy has been excellent. I was counting on having to replace the blade, but found the stock blade quite good for the work I do.

I bought the saw site unseen.

After researching Makita, DeWalt, Ridged and Bosch. I went with the Bosch 10" slider and bought one site-unseen. After unpacking the saw from the very large shipping box, and setting it up, I became educated on its functions and what a great decision I made. I had to make one adjustment in alignment, no big deal since I would recommend checking all alignments anyway. The laser is worth its weigh in gold. I installed a wood floor and only had to come close in my cuts. With the laser, (I can't comment on outside use) I was able to align the blade with the pencil mark on the wood...... Then saw away. Fast and easy. I also cut some 22.5 and 45-degree angles. What a smooth set up. The levers are right where they need to be. The scales are large and easy to read and also where they need to be. The saw will not be used on a daily basis since I am not a contractor so it's the last miter saw I will need to buy. Excellent choice for homeowners. I'll leave the professional trade comments left to the pros.

read a bunch of reviews before ordering this, and saw a bunch of others in person at sears/lowes/home depot before passing on those and ordering this one, which i couldn't find locally.
br /
br /some things i didn't see while glancing through the other reviews...
br /
br /1) comes with a pretty decent 80 tooth blade that cuts as clean as most table saw blades, so it's not necessary to buy a new one instantly as it is with some others
br /
br /2) no other 10" saw i found had as much range of movement as this one, it goes 55 on one side and 60 on the other
br /
br /3) stops and locks that are well laid out and easy to set/unset, which is a huge plus if you use this for more than just framing up 2x4s. this could double as a radial arm saw for most functions, actually, with clever use of the stops and locks
br /
br /4) seems rugged enough for every day use but it's not overly heavy. i took it straight upstairs in my house after unboxing it and set it up in a room i'm remodeling and had no trouble carrying it up the stairs by myself. every other saw i found with this much range of movement was 12" and not nearly as easy to carry
br /
br /5) bevel adjustment is on the front as well, which is a plus for not having to reach around the back of the saw to tilt the blade

This is the nicest saw I have used yet, I really think if they got the dust bag to do a better job than nothing at all that this could be the best saw yet. If you plan to use it inside a home you might want to close off the door ways because the bag doesn't work if you are using t outside and it doesn't matter about the dust it is great. I am still glad I purchased the saw but I wish they would fix the bag system. I would refer this saw over the other ones out there.

I initially purchased the Bosch 5412L 12" slider (see my 4 star review) to replace my reliable Hitachi 8 1/2" but returned it to the big box store because it was just too big and I wanted to be able to use my 10" blades. The Bosch 4410L slider isn't a stock item in local stores in my area so I ordered one from Amazon. After using it for a year, I wish I had stayed with a 12" slider because there have been numerous times I could have used the additional depth of cut. The motor is mounted on the right side of the blade which limits the depth of cut when the bevel is set to the right. It also gets in the way of some cuts when holding stock verticle to the fence. Nevertheless, the overall quality of the saw is very good.
br /
br /This saw has all of the features of the 5412L plus some. The dust collection port is 2" on this saw as opposed to 1 1/2" on the 5412L which makes dust collection adequate as opposed to poor. I hooked up an old shop vac to the dust port and it collects about 80% of the dust. The saw also includes a tool storage bin on the back of the saw for the seldom used wrenches that are needed to fine tune the saw, and a micro dentent adjustment that the 5412L lacks. I tried the micro dentent feature several times and find it easier to just use the "tap tap" method to fine tune a miter. Both saws have the same well designed adjustable handle that can be operated with either hand. I really like this feature because it makes it real easy to avoid dangerous cross handed cuts.
br /
br /The two saws have the same washer style laser, but it is more accurate on this saw. On the 5412L the laser line moves slightly from right to left as the sawblade is lowered. When it is about 5" from the workpiece, the movement stops and the laser lines up with the left side of the blade. (This is mentioned in the laser manual.) This is not a problem with the 4410L because the resting position of the saw blade is about 5" from the workpiece. I had never used a laser before this saw and liked it once I got used to it. Of course, it's invisible when working outside, but inside its nice to have.
br /
br /I wish I could say that my saw was accurate right out of the box but it wasn't. I had to adjust the 90 degree bevel, both 45 degree bevel stops, and the square to fence. This isn't difficult, just takes a little time. The saw is still accurate after a year and multiple blade changes.
br /
br /This saw is about 4 lbs lighter than the 5412L but it has a nearly identical footprint. It is 24" from the back of the slider to the fence and 43" from the back of the slider to the miter nob. This is about 7" deeper than the Dewalt and Hitachi 12" sliders which means it takes up more space on the workbench. I had to be very careful to find the front to back balance point when I mounted the saw on a new Ridgid mobile miter saw stand. The miter saw and stand are quite heavy but they are easy to move around on uneven terrain and load into a pick-up. Set-up and take down is also very easy.
br /
br /Only time will tell if this saw is as reliable as my old Hitachi, but I'm satisfied so far. I think the slide rails on my old Hitachi were a little smoother than the Bosch but not significantly so. The turn table is about the same.
br /
br /I also bought the Ridgid miter saw stand on sale for $99 at Home Depot and like everything about it except that the outfeed rollers can't be tilted to make them parallel to the saw bed. It works great for moving the saw around the job site - even on uneven terrain - and it is easy to load in my truck. I can also store the saw vertical while it is mounted to the stand. I mounted my saw on a piece of plywood and hooked up a switched duplex outlet on the underside of the plywood to plug my saw and shop vac into. This way I don't forget to turn the vaccum on before I use the saw. I also mounted a pencil sharpener behind the saw.

I absolutely love this saw. I did a lot of research(about 2 years worth), to find the very best sliding compound miter saw out there and this is the one the was recommened. I have owned or used a few other brands of miter saws and this is by fair the best one I've used. It's price tag and size make it a saw for the more serious woodworker, you would not want to carry it around to much. It's more saw than a occasional handyman would need, for that go with a small and cheaper price miter saw. But if you often need to cut boards wider than 6", you definitely want this saw.
br /All the bells and whistles that come with it, although not totally necessary, are a nice addition. The laser guide is a handy feature to guick cuts. The retrackable side supports are a nice way to reduce the space the saw takes up. The adjustable handle makes it easy for everyone to use, no matter whether your left or right handed.
br /I would strongly recommened this saw to anyone looking for a high quality 10" Miter Saw.

I just finished my first job using this super saw. Wow! Great saw. No complaints. Just some hints. 1. Don't buy it for the laser cutting guide. The laser light works but lasts 20 hours max on the batteries supplied. Throw away the band aid laser add on! It really is a worthless toy. Lesser saws have better lasers. 2. The stamped out saw blade isn't bad but get a good 60 tooth and this saw will be hard to top. 3. The dust bag lets fine dust through but gets most of the heavy stuff. 4. The blade limit stop to stop the depth of cut slips if you pull down to hard but I learned the hard way and learned to let the stop work as a guide.
br / The upfront bevel lock is super and it swings past 45 for those nasty out of square corner cuts. All in all this is a solid machine with a good amount of clearance to cut crown mouldings since the motor is up out of the way and the blade is belt driven. It is intimidating at first with all the gadgets and new placements of the locks and stops but very user friendly after a few hours use.

This is the tool that turned me into a blue tool guy! I have used this thing day in and day out for about two years now. Have cut everything from pine, oak, hickory, mdf, melamine... you name it! I use it as a miter box and compound miter, either way it is just as accurate. Laser is hard to see most of the time but if you really need it you don't need a $500 saw. It has work supports that extend out more than most and they are pretty stout. It also has a flip up stop for repetitive cutting and a good extending fence. The adjustable depth setting is great for cutting dados and notches. The only downside to this saw is it's HEAVY, trust me you don't want to carry it up a flight or two of stairs everyday. Make sure you get a strong miter saw stand!

Before purchasing my Makita LS1013 and LS1013L sliders, I did do a lot of research on what saw I was going to buy. I did purchase the dw718, it has a nice concept, but falls way short of what it is supposed to be! This saw was another contender for my pocket book. Anyway, after borrowing a new one from my friend to try out I have to say, I am glad I NEVER purchased this saw!

Why? Well here is the why! Out of the box the bevels were out, so I fixed that in a hour or so with no issues (one should never be afraid to recalibrate their saw-even if you spend 500 dollars or more, they are made by man and nothing is perfect! If is isn't out, hurray; if it is, take the time to fix it!) Firstly, as compared to proven saws out there (ls1013, c10fsh, dw708), the head slop is just too much. Dewalt and Bosch must have worked together on this part, they both (de718 / 4410L) suffer too much head slop. The four position handle (by the way, Bosch, prides itself on making ergonomic tools) while nice, is too plasticy and needs to be better attached to the powerhead. The buttons used to move the (four position) handle are easily broken, and if broken the repair bill will be too much. The fact that I have all the controls up front seems nice, but with too many moving parts it is bound to fail. Note the bevel lock lever had to be adjusted so it wasn't so tight to operate, once the tool cover was off (behind the saw), I adjusted it properly! Ever wonder why DeWalt, Makita, or Hitachi have not done the same type of non-sense. It is not due to patent issues, they realized long ago that a saw is proven thru simplicity, not hype and gadgets! They are smart enough to realize that simple will simply outlast complex mechanics. Too many moving parts is just more money to spent in the long run when it breaks down!

The mitre scale is physically cast into the base, just looking at it and you wonder how can one finely adjust odd mitres, when the mitre lines are literally a 16th of an inch wide! That means that lines are too thick. The micro works but, for the time it takes to dial-in the correct mitre, it is just easier to use the main mitre lock knob and dial it in yourself! The detents (also machined into the based are nice and large, but the large mitre pin that engages the aluminum, is made of PLASTIC! While I used the saw, it was very accurate on the mitres (but since the main mitre pin is plastic, how can it hold accuracy in the longterm?--steel is better!) Again, such ingenuity questions quality. The detent override feature works flawlessly. Yet, what is more weird is why the main mitre pin is plastic, and the micro-adjust knob is steel. The one you use more is cheaper made than the one you use the least; the more used should be made better (am I wrong for thinking too logically here!) More to wear out and gradually and replace! Why does only Bosch use plastic for their mitre pin? Hmmmmmm..........

Bosch has seemed to fix their arbour issue with newer generations of this model, however, the laser marker that came with mine, only lights up the left kerf of the blade. This is true for all models, now what if I want to bring the laser on the other side; well you can't! Every other major laser system allows left and right, not Bosch. As a note, Bosch and Ridgid use the same style of laser system (a mercury centrifugal force switch). The tool less, built-in saw extensions are nice, but compared to Makita, are too shallow! At least Makita makes their 7 inches deep (from the fence); no one has that feature except Makita!

Since the RPM is 4800, Makita is like 3700, the Bosch noise is deafening; but, the power is nice for a belt driven saw. Direct drives are still more powerful. The slides are nice and smooth and the fence is high. I do really like the high fence and the built in ruler (it is cast into the fence); this is nice to help measure rough pieces for framing for example! They slide nice and provide ideal support for crown moulding. The mitre swing is huge, more than 110 degrees (52 left, 60 right). I really like how there are many handles by which to grab and carry the saw; the cord wrap on the slides is handy too. Dust collection is good, but not great; way better than the dw718 that's for sure! The blade that comes with it is good enough for most tasks. Put a Ridge Carbide rs-1000 (80 tooth) blade on your saw, and see how well your saw will perform!

Overall, nicely thought out machine, but the for the fact that it has too much plastic; and Bosch forgot the little things that allow a slider to be consistent, it is a saw that I would not purchase. I will give Bosch credit, there saw's mitre scale and bevel are very accurate (just keep checking it for accuracy)! For those who own it, take care of it, and keep checking the saws accuracy on a consistent basis (bevels and mitres). Even if yours is fine out of the box, one should still check it. My Makita is checked weekly (I make furniture part time), and I find that it holds its accuracy impeccably, but I guess I am too fussy! Which is good in some respects because the saw does not need to be recalibrated a 10th of what the Bosch needs to. So the Bosch does have some features, but for the long term it will NOT hold up. Take care!!!...

For starters, please pay close attention to several reviews of the Bosch 4410 (which is essentially the same saw minus the laser) by professional finish carpenters. It is true that everybody has biases, but overall, if the pros don't like it, chances are you won't in the long run.

I picked up my Bosch 4410L at the freight depot on the way to the job-site one morning a couple weeks ago. It arrived in great condition - thanks Amazon! I was excited to try out my new saw. Well, I have to say that despite all the great design concepts that the Bosch has, its actual performance fell far short of expecations. This 500.00 saw was not nearly as accurate as my 199.00 RIDGID chop saw! The cuts were wavy, probably due to the issues noted in some of the other reviews. For fine trim work, this saw is unacceptable, which is a shame because I really liked some of the features. I sent the Bosch back the next day and got a Hitachi C10FSH. I'm glad I did.

I'm not a master carpenter or a finish carpenter. If I were, I'd likely buy the Festool miter saw but for the $, this saw has been better than I expected. The only downer is the dust collection. It really is as bad as everyone said it was. So, if you're going to use this saw inside a house, you'll regret it. It took me about 1/2 hour to verify the saw was square and make one slight adjustment. Great saw!

To begin with, I ordered the saw on a Thursday morning and even using the free shipping option it showed up on Friday afternoon! I bought the saw as I wanted a better miter saw to start doing some woodworking, cabinet making, etc...general weekend hobby stuff. I also needed it as I was installing a bamboo floor in the kitchen and would need something to cut boards to length.
br /The saw needed only minor adjustments out of the box, but as other reviewers have stated the miter detents are nice, but the markings and pointer are a bit wide and does take some fine tuning. The only other complaint is a relatively common one as well and it deals with the laser. When I installed the laser, it was off by about a quarter inch or so. Strangely however, the longer I use it the closer to the actual cut it gets! It is now nearly exactly on the left edge of the cut. Dust collection is greatly improved if you can connect the saw to a vacuum or dust collection system, otherwise like most catch bags, it doesn't catch much.
br /Outside of those couple of smaller items, the saw works great! It is sturdy and all the front controls are really handy. If you are doing a lot of sawing you will have to periodically clean the slides to keep it from sticking, but that will be the case with just about any sliding saw.
br /The blade that comes with it is actually pretty good, but I did upgrade to an 80 tooth Forrest blade in order to get clean and cut out free ends for the bamboo.
br /All in all, I am very pleased with the saw. The fence is sturdy and square, and the extra outfeed supports help...especially when cutting things like flooring which is typically about 3 feet in length. I still have many more projects lined up for it, but so far it has performed beautifully and I have no real problems or concerns with it!

This is a GREAT addition to my equipment. I do custom finishing work on homes built from the teens thru the 40s lots of 6" thru 12" trim, this saw has made that a breeze, and the cut is perfect! The only draw back is this saw is very large, because it has so many angles, once setup to work you forget this, but packing you will remember, small price for a great work horse, If you do alot of trim work this is the saw for experts, beginners you need this to do a great job from day one. Building has come along way since doing it by hand!

Compared to other saws on the market, this one is a little pricey, but well worth the investment. I purchased it to replace my standard 10" coumpound miter saw. The saw is well built and has all the options I was looking for. The most impressive for me is the ability to cross cut 12" boards, perfect for sheveling. Amazon delivered as promised, I used my Prime to have it shipped overnight, what a deal.
br /
br /The only con is the laser, it is battery operated and works by centrifugal force. You need to run the saw to line it up which is somewhat of a pain. Moreover, unless you are in the shade forget about seeing it. I would like to see Bosch come up with a laser that you can switch on and off, like my Ryobi drill press. Allows sight and clamp up and reduces miscuts.

I have been using 4410 l since January 2007(it is 9th month today). I do not have experience with any other sliding saw so I cannot compare this product to others.
br /
br /Likes: the product has precise laser and ergonomic handle, all tools for exchange of either the blade or laser battery (dies after 1month or so :( ) are located on or rather (in) your saw.
br /
br /Dislikes are these: many times I got splinters underneath the rotating part which blocked the rotation unless I cleaned it up; then there are sliding rulers that CAN BE CUTTED OFF if you are not careful while making bevel cuts, so be smart and keep them pulled aside; the break stops working properly sometimes and extensions that holds your material could have been little longer. The product is heavy, but that is expected.
br /
br /The 4410 l sometimes requires extra cleaning from splinter but it does precise cuts and so work with it is a game.

Upon recieving the 4410L I spent several hours reviewing the manual and checking all the adjustments, to my suprise everything was dead on I even moved beveling and miter to see if they would hold true, they did, I make segmented bowls and vases, the compound cuts have to be dead on in order to make a perfect circle, I've been impressed with the quality of this machine in ease of handling and quality cuts, most notable is the ease of changing bevel positions from the front.
br /This is a quality machine for the money and I am comfident i made a very good choice and reccomend it to anyone needing a sliding compound miter saw.

This is one awesome machine. Take it out of the box and its ready to use. The blade that comes with it cuts though lunber like its butter and leaves an extremely smooth finish. After reading other reviews about the blade I bought a spare Freud brade but am still using the one that come with with without any problems. I have cut hundreds of pieces of wood as well as vinyl siding and 4x4 fence posts. I didn't bother installing the laser because its easy enough to see where the blade will cut without the gimmick and get perfect cuts. Like everyone else says, the bag is a waste, just toss it out. I mounted my saw on a TracRac T3 Stand which I felt was a better value that the one sold under the Bosch name and the saw sits rock solid on the stand. I did have to use a separate stand while cutting 20' 2x12s but that would be expected. This saw is lighter than the 12" model, costs less to buy and blades are also less expensive. They both with cut 4x4 and neither will cut 6x6 (not that I would ever have the need to either) so I thought that all around it was a much better choice than the 12" model.

I've used this saw a lot in the last 2 years.

I purchased this saw in Jan 2007 from Amazon have have used it a lot in the past 2 years - mostly on projects that involve customized moldings from wide stock for a house restoration project. The unit was square true right out of the box with no adjustments necessary. As has been frequently mentioned in previous reviews, the saw dust collection system leaves a lot to be desired though not a big deal in my shop. This unit replaces a 15 year old Delta saw I expect to get the same performance out of this one. After 2 years of heavy use, I would buy this saw again.

I had a Ridgid 10" miter saw that I thought was a good saw but it did not have the cutting capacity that I needed while remodeling the exterior of my house. After reading recommendations and reviews of miter saws in various sources I purchased this saw from Amazon. It is one of those tools which not only does what it is supposed to do but is also a pleasure to use because of the quality and features. I never thought I'd pay so much for a miter saw but am glad I did. I mounted it to a expandable mobile tool stand from Harbor Freight and couldn't be happier. It was dead on right out of the box. The difference between this saw and my old Ridgid is like day and night. The one minor complaint I have is with the clamp ---- it is very innovative and works very well but it is the compression type of clamp and I find that more often than not when I compress the clamp, my hand hits the attached protruding clamp tension adjustment knob.

This is one excellent piece of machinery. I evaluated multiple products before selecting the Bosch. Quality tools help produce quality work. Even though there are extensive direction for making adjustments this tool was ready to go right out of the box. I was cutting trim molding for my home in record time. The sliding mechanism and bevel are easy to adjust and smooth as silk. Highly recommend. Would have given it a prefect score except the laser seems to be an add on and not an integrated part of the saw. The laser line does not mark the exact point that the blade is going to cut so you need to learn to adjust for it.

I've used Bosch 4410L over 3 years. But I haven't had any problem yet.
br /I don't understand some people complaining about quality problems.
br /The cut is so smooth that if you use 60T or higher, don't need sanding on cut side. And the cut is extremely accurate all the time.
br /
br /When I purchased this unit, I saw one comparison test. The test used 6 different brand miter saws and made hectagon with 1x4. All other saws created big gap between first and last pieces, but Bosch made it perfect.
br /
br /The cut is very accurate all the time and also has a function for micro adjustment too. There are multiple power switches on the handle that I can use either left or right hand.
br /
br /Slider is very solid. It never shake or get stiff to operate.
br /Dust collection is not working well but I think this problem is same on all other miter saws. Saw itself diffuses dust to all direction, so there is no way to collect it all from one direction.
br /Dual beveling is a real time saver in crown moulding jobs and it's easy to operate. Frequently used angles are already set up in the saw, it saves time and can get accurate cut too.
br /
br /When working with other finish carpenters, my Bosch always cut all the pieces more precise than DeWalt and Makita.
br /I believe this is the best miter saw on the market.

I bought this saw thru Amazon. I had not previously owned a saw of this type, though I have numerous other power tools of various brands. You don't have to know much to see this is the best type of tool for cross-cutting wood at an angle and/or at a bevel and I wanted it for that. My research narrowed the field to Bosch, Makita and Hitachi, which seem to be the three most highly rated, and there is not much difference in price. I was able to personally look at the other two saws but could not find the Bosch in a local store, so bought it sight unseen. The other two saws appear to be well made when you see them and very substantial and probably any of the three would do a good job. I decided on the Bosch because of the on-line reviews and the feature of being able to adjust the bevel from the front of the saw. Have used it about one month trimming out an addition to our house. I am just an amateur so have had to learn as I go. The saw was accurate right out of the box, which was delivered in about 5 days with the Amazon free shipping option. I also bought the Freud 80-tooth blade advertised with the saw (with 20% off), but the saw comes with a 60-tooth blade, so I do not know if I gained much.
br /I find the laser more accurate than I expected from the reviews; it aligns with the left side of the blade. The saw is very well designed and made, nothing flimsy and even the few plastic parts (there are not many) are substantial. For my use it is very accurate and easy to use once you read the instructions, which are clear and not translated from a foreign language. All features work as advertised. After trying the saw without a stand for a few days I went to Lowes and bought a collapsible Delta saw stand which can be rolled on wheels, and the saw fits right on it. The stand is heavy so you are not going to move it around much, but the wheels make it tolerable, and the roller extensions do a good job of supporting long pieces of trim. The saw is very stable and not hard to mount, but you have to put the stand together, which took me about one and a half hours. I hooked my ShopVac to the port which discharges sawdust and it works OK but by no means gets all the dust; it is a lot better than just the bag. I think anyone who buys this saw will not be disappointed though I see a few naysayers have commented previously.

Finally a tool that comes out of the box ready to go to work. I had my doubts, usually I have to make adjustments to get a tru 90 degree cut, not with this tool. I had my steel squares ready to go to set it up and just put them back in the drawer.
br /
br /The work piece doesn't move when the saw starts up. The table is large and the extension wings are great. The blade is okay but I prefer another brand for clean cuts. I don't trust laser guides and didn't even put it on. This saw is awesome.

I bought this after reading the reviews in the 2007 tool guide. It received top ratings and now I can see why. Everything out of the box was perfect. This is a upgrade from my old Miter saw and it is great to see the improvements over the years. The laser alignment is a neat little trick, and adjustment for the right angles and cuts couldn't be easier. I really like the adjustable handle feature. The fence has some nice adjustments for repeatable cuts, and it was easy to add my jig for longer cuts. I like it.

My soon to be son-in-law, who happens to be a Master carpenter in Seattle and I discussed this purchase and this is the tool the finish carpenters have on the job sites in Seattle. This is the best "chop" saw I have ever owned. I didn't even have to make any adjustments. It was set up perfect right out of the box. It's very easy to operate. When you look at it you can tell that a great deal of thought went into the design. It is very easy to use. The dust collection bag does not work real well, so I hooked up to a dust collector.

This is the best deal you will find on this saw. Not only did Amazon have the least expensive price but I received free UPS 2nd day air even to Hawaii. The saw arrived in excellent condition despite the box looking a little beat up. After setting up the saw and checking all the adjustments I only needed to tweak the 0 bevel a very tiny amount. The adjustments are straight forward and easy to do. I would recommend using a socket wrench and seperate allens instead of the included tools. After set-up I cut base board for three rooms with no problems. The saw is easy to use and dead on accurate. The dust collection bag is pretty useless but by hooking up my shop vac I could contain about 90% of the dust. I looked at the Makita, Ridgid and Hitachi saws before making this purchase and the up front controls of this saw was the tie breaker for me. I would have no problem recommending this saw to friends.

This machine is good to go right out of the box. I figured that I did enough trim work that the saw paid for itself, thus it was free...Used the lazer guide for about 2 boards, did not like it, it seems to get in the way and distracting , not precise enough, so I removed it. Like all miter saws the dust collection bag is worthless, but this machine is excellent.

I recently bought this saw as a replacement for a 12" Delta compound miter saw. I read a lot of the reviews and after comparing the different saws that are out in the market place I thought that this one fit my needs the best. I have used it a couple of times now and what a difference there is between the two saws. The 4410L is a much better saw than I had. I have been cutting a lot of 10-12" wide boards for custom work around the house and having the sliding feature really saved me a whole lot of time. The difference in the cuts between the saws is significant as well. The 4410L has a much better cut than my previous saw. Right out of the box the saw was ready to go. My friend recently bought the Makita version and after using mine wished he had bought this one.

i really like this saw. i've only used it for a couple months but it's general features work well. i have a few minor complaints.
the dust extraction bag system does not work very well. i cut a few pieces of bicycle inner tube (it is preformed into a curve shape)and duct taped it to where dustport is behind the blade. this works VERY well.
this saw is very heavy and if you buy the bosch stand (not a very good design--too generic. it should work better than it does with a bosch product) with the wheels it is basically not portable. there ought to be a saw that cuts a 4x4 that doesnt weigh so much.
i love the micro adjust idea but it is just clumsy enough that i am not inclined to use it. i've used the "tap-tap" method for years and for the most part i am not doing multiple cuts at that one angle thats a little off; they are all just a little off and that makes the micro adjust more work than it is worth.

There are a lot of comments about slop in the miter detents of this saw, and with wavy cuts when using the slide; I've owned a Bosch 3915 for 5 years, and it's as tight and accurate now (dead-on since the first calibration when I bought it)as it was new. When I ordered the 4410, I was afraid that I would find some of the issues that were reported in these reviews, which would be a significant disappointment compared to the 3915.
br /Well, I got it, set it up, and immediately found the slop on the detents to be most of a degree, which doesn't work at all for such things as crown moldings. I turned it over, turned over the 3915 right next to it, and discovered that the system was nearly identical, but for the "micro-adjustment" assembly. Both have a plastic wedge that goes into the detent, and while the pivot for this wedge is closer to the detent in the table on the old saw, it looked to be of the same material and design. So, why the slop in the new saw? I tightened the bolt that carries the wedge and removed 90% of the slop with it still functioning smoothly and with very little change in the feel. That was it. Forget the micro adjustement, it's poorly designed to the point of being worthless, since it doesn't sit tightly in the detent when you engage it, which makes it worse than the sloppy wedge was. And yes, that micro setup is the reason the pivot is further back on the 4410, which because the pivot is further from the detents will make this slightly less accurate than the old saw, but it's very close. You can always disengage the detent selector and simply chooose your angle and then tighten the knob exactly where you want it without involving the detents at all.
br /My slide rails had a bit more play in them than the old saw, which was another easy fix by adjusting the tension exactly as explained in the manual. This should minimize wavy cuts or other accuracy issues to a degree acceptable to fussy users. Maybe it's not a good saw for cabinet work, but I'm not sure anyone makes one for this money that it. I've trimmed out my house, framed and finished a screen porch, put crown in every room including my garage, cut pressure-treated 4X4s for landscaping, framed in new closets, put down 1700 square feet of tropical hardwood floors, and loved the 3915 every time I've touched it. It's still on the original Bosch blade, and cuts so tight I can shave with it. I'm very particular about trim, and my standards are that moldings should fit perfectly without caulk or filler, and I've never coped, instead relying on accurate cuts. It's never failed me, and the only reason I replaced it was to give it to my little brother to do the moldings in his new house.
br /I hope the new one serves me as well. I love the dual-bevel, which helps greatly with crown, and I'm well on my way to loving this saw as much as the first.

I purchased this saw after doing quite a bit of research on 10" Sliding Miter saws and have to say that this saw is not just a saw but a piece of art.

The quality of this machine is impressive. I opened the box, setup the saw and checked the accuracy of the saw and was impressed that it was dead on right out of the box without any calibration.

Previous to this saw, I've used a GMC 12" slider, Skill 10" miter and a Chicago Electric 10" slider and none were as well made and accurate as this saw.

I would recommend this saw to anyone looking for a Sliding miter saw.

Well, I was all excited that Bosch came with Laser on their new saw but this saw is something you want to avoid if you want perfection and accuracy. I checked the cuts/angles with Incra angles / squares and found that this saw needs major Quality control.

No matter what you do, blade does not cut straight and then you will realize that all the gadgets, this saw comes with it, are worthless since you cannot make this saw make True 90 degree cuts.

I have spent almost 2 days trying to figure out what can be wrong and then I realized that there was a problem with arbor. Fence had some issues to make true 90 degrees cuts.

Laser on this saw is a joke !. It is mounted on arbor on left side so you have to guess where it will cut. There will be always a gap of 0.1" or more between actual cut and laser line.
Why the heck then I need a laser ????.

In short, Avoid this saw and I am very disappointed with this Bosch machine. Do not read reviews in magazines since first look and feel is very impressing but check the angles and you will realize that this machine needs Quality control.

Dust bag is another issue since it accumulates only 20% dust and 80% dust is out of bag.

Blade is OK but I changed it to Freud Ultra fine finish and was getting much much better cuts.

I am not sure why some magazines gave such a good review but take my advise, stick with makita or dewalt and don't get impressed by reviews or all the gadgets this saw has since 'ACCURACY' is a missing word here with this saw .

I researched miter saws and read reviews, asked fellow contractors and what not, and decided to go with this instead of the Hitachi 10" slider, because I noticed alot of complaints about the Hitachi having way to much play with the slide rails. Amazon got the saw to me with a busted box and I don't know how it didn't fall apart when UPS carried it to my door. So I opted to just open it up and see if anything appeared to be damaged and it seemed fine. Took the saw out of the box and everything was off, the fence was way off, the bevel, miter, etc. So when I got that all squared up I cut a couple pieces of crown I had lying around flat (6" crown). For some reason all the joints were off a nearly 1/16 to an 1/8. Came to find that the table would lock into what degree you set in but would have almost a full degree L & R play. So where is it really being locked down at? +.4 -.4 degrees from the mark? I talked to a buddy of mine unfortunately after I bought this saw and he said he had the same issue so I know it wasn't from the shipping. Unfortunately this issue wasn't adjustable so sent it back and got my refund with out a fuss, thanx amazon. It's a shame to because it seemed like a great well built saw, just not accurate enough for finish stain grade millwork. Don't buy this saw if you want exact precession or if you're never going to do stain grade casework.

Once again, Bosch has hit a home run. Very smooth action on the sliding carriage.
