This saw replaces a non-sliding DeWalt miter saw. It works really well, and with the wider cross cuts, it really enhances the capability. I have not yet used the left or right tilt, but I think that will be very handy. I do most of my Crown Molding cuts with the stops (purchased separatly) and it has worked very well for these. As a reconditioned saw at a good price, I can't tell it from new.

Let me start by stating that I've only had this unit for about 3 weeks now. I have not used it extensively, but enough to say that it's a great machine.

br /This is the first miter saw that I've owned, and it replaces an older Delta radial arm. I've used DeWalt miter saws in a workshop where I took some classes and loved the units. They stood up well to all the student use and abuse, which speaks well to the durable construction.

br /I purchased a reconditioned unit for a few reasons: 1) It was only about $100 more than a smaller, less capable unit. 2) I don't plan on using this in a production capacity. 3) A good friend promised to give me grief if I bought a saw that was smaller than his :-)

br /The unit arrived in perfect condition. It's heavy, so if you have a bad back like I do, have help when the package arrives. It's ready to use right out of the box. I checked how square the unit was and the fence-to-blade measurement was dead on. The table-to-blade measurement was off by just a little bit, but was very easy to adjust.

br /Using the saw is very nice. I'm using the DeWalt blade that came with the saw, and it cuts very cleanly. The horizontal handle is very comfortable to use. Adjusting the miter or bevel is very easy using either the locks or the free adjustment.

br /The one down side that I found to this machine, and it's a minor point, is that the blade takes a little longer than I'd like to spin up to speed. This is a 12" blade, so it's going to take a little more torque to crank up. I find that I have to wait 3-4 seconds before the blade is running fast enough to start the cut. That doesn't sound like a lot, but that'll add up quickly when you're trying to make a bunch of cuts for molding or whatever it is you're working on. This is the reason I gave this unit 4 out of 5 stars.

This DeWalt 12" Dual Bevel-Sliding Compound Miter Saw is the best. It "slices" the wood as if it was butter. Quick and easy. Mitering made easy with this tool. Easy to operate. This was a replacement saw from my old DeWalt 10" and I love it. I purchased it for my boyfriend because we are in the process of building a new garage and it will make it very quick and easy to cut the studs - all angles and straight! Can hardly wait to teach him how to use it! (And, yes, I'm a Female!)

I owned a Delta 10" sliding Compound Miter saw and wanted a DeWalt 12" Dual Bevel Sliding compound Miter saw but the price was to high. I had read a favorable reveiw on the Bosch Sliding Compound Miter Saw and was about to buy one when I found several reviews about the positive results being received by users of factory reconditioned DeWalt Dual Bevel Sliding Compund Miter Saws. The price was right so I ordered one and checked it out. the angles and cuts are all dead on with no adjustments necessary and I saved $200 over what I would have paid for a new one. This is the best purchase I have made, I got what I wanted and saved money, what more can you ask?

Great! I am pleased; however, I wish it had a laser sight on it. It came with a cheap blade. I had to purchase a better blade.

Looks and works great. Like new condition. One of the bearings for the slider was a bit loose, but it has an adjustment knob that took care of the problem. Nice and tight now. That said, you just can't beat the value.
