Essential tool for Old House Owner

I've had this tool for three years, and use it occasionally, usually four or five times a year. I have cut through 12 x 12 railroad ties, old cast iron pipes, wood beams, 1/4 inch steel plate, tree branches, plaster, and nail laden old growth lumber. No problems associated with the tool (though the railroad ties were a challenge to the user). Blades are easy to change, but figure on going through two or three fairly quickly on difficult jobs. Highly recommended, especially if you are doing any kind of remodeling; it all starts with demo and this tool makes that process a lot easier and quicker. Well worth the money.

Great tool for trimming trees

Easy to use and has many applicatins. I used it to trim some small trees and it cut thru 2 inch limbs with no problem. It does not weigh as much a chain saws and so it is easy to handle when atop a ladder using one hand to cut the limb.

Seems fine for a freebie...

A little low on power but I can't complain condsidering it didn't cost me anything but the margins on the other tools I bought--woulda paid bigger margins at Home Despot or Lows. Nice that it comes with an assortment of extra blades. Too bad stupid DeWalt makes all their tools in Mexico...pay a little more and get a 7 lb., 10-amp corded Milwaukee Sawzall made in the US.

Top of the homeowner-grade demolition food chain!

If you are a contractor, you know this one isn't going to last for a week-long demo job going full-tilt for 10 hours a day.
br /
br /If you are a homeowner, you will never put that kind of mileage on it . . . so save yourself the difference and spend the savings on beer to get friends to come over and help with the demolition.
br /
br /That said, mine has demo'd a bathroom, a kitchen, a shed, two automotive exhaust systems, and has cut a lot of PVC pipe for me, and it has not bogged down once when a sharp blade was locked in place.

Very useful Dewalt saw for Brazil's woodworkers

It's the best saw that I have ever used. I'm used to use jig saw and circular saw. However, the reciprocating saw is OUTSTANDING ! I'm using this to cut trees, metal, pipes and heavy woods. The performance of this saw is amazing.

So far, so good!

We've owned this saw for 2 years now, it's held up to frequent, hard use very well. It's cut through tree limbs, metal poles and pipes, and other miscellaneous hard substrates. Comfortable to use and Dewalt provides 10 blades (5 wood, 5 metal) along with this package, which have also held up well. My only complaint is the finicky little tightener bolt used for securing the blade in place- it's a bit tedious to change blades. But overall we're quite happy with this do-it-all saw.

I got this as a freebie when I bought the Porter-Cable CFFN250N Finish Brad Nailer Combo Kit on a promo a few months ago. The saw worked great for tearing out a big part of my house to be remodeled, including nails, drywall, studs, etc.. I did have a little trouble with the blades and allen wrench at first (mostly just trying to keep track of the wrench), but now have things all figured out and it works great.

Excellent tool for the price

Contrary to other reviewers, I think the motor is strong enough.
br /The cut is a little inacurate, though. The flexing blade does not
br /always give accurate cut.

I have this saw. It's 9 years old and still going strong. It's done everything I've asked for it to and I haven't been very nice to it at all.

br /I've wanted more power a few times, but all in all it's very satisfactory.

I was a little doubtful because of the complaint about blade changing, but obviously that consumer was wrong. This was easy to operate, fast and the best unit I could have purchased.

The DW 303 is a little lighter weight than a standard "Sawzall" but does not lack "guts". I have used it a lot doing some re-modeling cutting both wood (2x4s), drywall, particle board and metal (galvanized ABS pipe). It did a great job.

The only disappointment was the tool came in a cardboard box rather than a suitable hard cover case for transport to and from the job. First use proved to be exactly what I expected from Dewalt. the tool is heavy enough to help manage difficult cutting tasks (screws are much harder than nails) but light enough to allow for extended use.

The saw does not come with a case and you have to use a allen wrench to change the blades. For a little more money you could get a saw with a case and quick release to change the blades.

Really nice saw! High quality and TOUGH! I was NOT very happy that UPS delivered the box with a big hole in the side....IDIOTS....but the contents were fine. If it survived UPS it should last for many years of abuse!! Excellent ergonomics and blade change ease. I've cut many 2x6s and lots of sheet steel with no problems. Wish Amazon would offer more shipping options....
