I searched and searched and finally came to the conclusion that for the average home woodworker's budget, there are three types of bandsaws. Cheap ones that you will wish you didn't buy (think 12" saws made in China and sold at the big box stores), medium priced saws that are ok but have some serious shortcomings (think of the Delta and Jet low-medium priced models), and saws that are good but expensive (Powermatic and Delta X5). After reading absolutely everything written on the subject in the past 5 years (I am a librarian after all) I decided that this Grizzly saw deserves a category of its own. Though it is priced closer to the "cheap" category than the other two, it sports features and performance that are much closer to the "expensive" saw category.
br /
br /Now that I own this saw I can say that my experience supports my research and vica-versa. Once it was properly set up, this saw has minimal vibration and I quickly came to appreciate features such as a great stand, excellent blade guides, a decent sized table (ground to a nice finish), blade quick-detentioner, a smooth running powerful motor, and a lightweight yet strong and accurate fence and rail system. Did I mention the stand? I am almost embarrased to go on about it, but from the pictures I was expecting a cheapo thin sheet metal stand that I would replace asap. Boy was I wrong. This stand is HEAVY gauge metal and bolts together quickly and perfectly to form a rock solid platform for this saw. I will never bother to change it. I am also well pleased with the power of the 1hp motor. I almost spent hundreds more for the Jet 1.25hp model and am really glad I didn't. With the 6" riser block and an average quality Olson resaw blade installed I have been able to resaw some HARD, 12" wide old growth pine into beautiful bookmatched pieces without so much as a stutter. I wasn't terribly gentle with the feed rate either. It has also handled resawing 6" white oak and walnut with ease.
br /
br /Overall I can't say enough good things about this saw. The power is excellent, the features all exceed the hype, and the price is outstanding compared to the competition. I highly recommend this product and give Grizzly an A+ for offering high quality at such a great price.

I have delayed writing this review because I wanted several months and board feet under my belt before making comment. As my title suggests, it is a fine band saw for the money -- certainly a lot better than my old Craftsman 14"er that it replaced.
br /
br /I'll get my complaints out of the way first:
br /
br /1. The blade it comes with, and the other Grizzly blades I bought, are poor, poor blades. They go dull very, very quickly. I ended up buying a 3/4" 3tpi Lennox 92.5" Classic bi-metal and things improved dramatically.
br /
br /2. The saw does not have a light to illuminate the blade and cutting area. Even my old Craftsman had a decent light to help see the work in progress.
br /
br /3. Dust collection is barely adequate - even with the 4" chute and my 4" collection hoses. It leaves a lot of dust on the table and around the saw.
br /
br /Now to what I like about it, in no particular order:
br /
br /1. I love the table and fence system. The fence is easy to move and remove and accurate enough for my needs.
br /
br /2. It is fairly quite and vibration free.
br /
br /3. It handles re-sawing (with the Lennox blade) with ease. I re-saw 3" maple and walnut, and 4" Western Red Cedar, and the saw/saw blade handles it well.
br /
br /4. Centering the blade is very easy with a handy knob that can be turned to adjust the blade and then locked in place.
br /
br /5. Set-up was straight-forward and fairly easy.
br /
br /6. Access to the blade and wheels is easy via the pop-open doors.
br /
br /Overall, I am very satisfied with this band saw. I would buy it again, and would recommend it to my friends.

I now have three bandsaws... From 11" 12" and now the Grizzly 14".. and I must compare them all and my Jet 12" is a superior saw for general use... The Grizzly Ultimate is a close runner.. The Grizzly Ultimate 14" saw is not as smooth as I would have expected it to be.. A good product none the less and if it were my only saw I would have graded it at least 4.5 stars but since I can compare I've got to say the Jet 12" is a better, smoother, cleaner, quieter and more handsome saw.. (Just for comparative reasons alone) The Grizzly Ultimate does have some vibration and is a little more noisy.. Also, the saw is not what I call properly balanced on it's stand... Can be tilted forward (towards you) with ease.. Outstanding features on the Grizzly however... The rip fence and miter is super and works great... resawing is a breeze even at a max height of 6".. My saw arrived in perfect condition, easy to assemble and setup... Was up and running in less then an hour.. comes with a crappy blade installed but good enough for setup and general sawing I spose... No wheel brush but has a large 4" dust port.. All and all for the price and quality of the saw is super. Sorry Grizzly, you'll have to settle for Silver on this one as I have to place my JET in the Gold.... If only I hadn't compared this saw I wouldn't have known better..

After many months of agonized research, the decision was made to purchase this saw. I figured that because it was less expensive, it must be inferior. That is simply wrong. This saw has now been in service for over a year. It has run two-to-four hours a day, 5 days a week, for 13 months. The saw has never had a mechanical problem. The fence is still dead on. The motor has NEVER stalled, even when ripping 8/4 oak. I saved enough money buying this saw a year ago, and am so incredibly impressed, that now I am buying a second one. The second saw will have cool-blocks and keep a 1/8 inch blade permanently mounted. Both saws will cost less than ONE Delta. And the delta does not even have a fence.brAlso, the blade tensioning and release is much superior, and the dust collection is a a 4 inch port instead of 2 1/2 inch plastic piece that gets in the way.pThe saws arrived with one 3/8's inch blade that is 92 1/2 inches long. The only vendor that I have found for that lengh blade is Grizzly and it now seems that they are discontinuing their stock.pThe table tilt mechanism works well for a saw of this size. The rails for the fence are long enough to be able to mount the fence in FRONT of the blade when the saw is tilted. This was a very pleasant surprise.pThe handle broke off of the miter in the first months after my purchase. Customer service was fast, and accurate, and professional. The replacement part arrived in less than 72 hours.pAll-in-All... This is the best saw at this size on the market today.

This is my first Bandsaw, I bought it because of the reviews that I read, price was a factor though. I build Cupolas and needed a tool to resaw 6x6 treated lumber and resaw cedar for the louvers, the treated lumber was a desaster, the chemicals totaly gummed up the wheels, guides and blade, as for the cedar, this saw resaws wonderfully,I of course am using quality after market blades - 3/16, 1/2 and 3/4. The blade ball bearing guides are being replaced with high tolerance bearings, part number 608SSD21 from a company in Miami. The finish on this tool is very good, both in machining and paint. The blade tension release is great, so easy. Changing the blade speed is quick, but a long stem allen wrench makes speed change even eaiser. The table fence is a great beginning it's made in a way that adding a longer/taller face is simple. When I un-packed this saw all parts were there, and assembly was straight forward. After assembly and blade adjustment, this tool ran so quiet, all I could hear was the blade guide bearings as I was cutting yellow pine, this tool really kicks out the dust, a dust collector is a must, my shop vac in no way can keep-up. I would buy this tool again, it satifies all my needs.

Great saw with some quality control issues

Key Points:
br /+ Hard to beat this deal - best mix of price and features for 14" bandsaws
br /+ Quiet, smooth running
br /+ Good quality of cut after tuning
br /
br /- Quality control issues at factory - wheels were ¼" out of plane
br /- Hit or miss customer service / tech support
br /- Tires were far from smooth and caused vibration
br /- Should include block guides in addition to roller guides for smaller blades
br /
br /---------------------------------------
br /
br /Significant research led me to purchase this saw and the 6" riser block in early January of this year. The G0555 has several features that make it a good deal compared to other 14" bandsaws - included fence, roller guides, and of course, relatively inexpensive. Grizzly also has a decent reputation for customer support - the president of the company takes the issue personally.
br /
br /The saw was shipped within 48 hours of being ordered, and was available for pickup within 5 days of being ordered - outstanding considering it is shipped via freight carrier. Although the saw was packed efficiently packed and there was no damage, Grizzly could probably save some money on damaged returns by adding additional Styrofoam to the packaging.
br /
br /Unfortunately, the riser block was shipped via UPS and took almost a week longer to arrive. After it did arrive, it was missing the extended guide post. Over the next three weeks, I made over 7 calls to Grizzly to check on the status of the replacement part - although they were courteous, I never received a straight answer on when I could expect it ("It takes a couple of days . . .") Finally, on my last call, I got patched through to a tech who seemed rather upset that the part hadn't been shipped out yet (at this point, I had the saw for over a month but had not been able to complete setup). He asked me if he could call me back and hung up. 10 minutes later, he called up to say the part would be in the mail either the same day or the next day at the latest. True to his word, the extended guide post arrived 3 days later. Apparently, I am not the only one who ran into this problem (i.e. missing extended guide post) - another reviewer ran into exactly the same problem.
br /
br /With the extended guide post, I was able to finish setting up the saw (again, after having it on hand for over a month). During setup, I realized that the two wheels were not coplanar - they were 1/4" out of plane. Ideally, the two wheels that the blade runs between will be directly in line with each other; the bottom wheel was significantly behind the top wheel. At this point, I also noticed that the motor pulley was not in line with the wheel - the belt squeaked as the bottom wheel rotated.
br /
br /I contacted tech support about the problem. Because the saw was so far out of alignment, shimming the bottom wheel would only be half of the solution. As noted by another reviewer, they recommended that I pull the pins out of the riser block. Also as noted by another reviewer, this is impossible to do (they are swaged) - fixed this problem with a grinder (the pins are not necessary to holt the top to the bottom - although they do aid alignment). After adding in the shim (washer) and tweaking the alignment of the top wheel, I moved on to fixing the motor pulley. Tech support thought the pulley was swaged onto the motor - they recommended using a puller to get it into line. After looking at the pulley, it is actually held on by two allen-head screws. A few minutes later, the wheels were coplanar.
br /
br /Quick note on the blade included with the saw - spend the extra money on a Timberwolf or Wood Slicer (understand that Grizzly throws the blade in for free with both the saw and with the riser block).
br /
br /After tensioning a Timberwolf ½" blade, and adjusting tracking, I fired up the saw. Quickly noticed a slight vibration in the saw. Checking the setup, I realized that the rubber tires that came with the saw were not smooth - there were several low spots on both tires.
br /
br /Installing two urethane tires from Rockler eliminated the vibrations that were caused by the rubber tires - the saw ran perfectly smooth with no noticeable vibration. Finally, the saw was ready to cut.
br /
br /With the Timberwolf blade installed, I was quickly able to make excellent cuts. After adjusting for drift, I was able to cut some veneer with a consistent thickness of 0.015 inches (about 1/64th of an inch) - pretty good by any standard (way thin - but did it just to see if I could do it).
br /
br /The fence is easy to adjust for drift and is sturdy enough for most operations. On the negative side, it doesn't lend itself to easily attaching another face for reswing taller wood.
br /
br /The bearing guides, as noted by others, are relatively noisy (particularly compared to Carter guides), and should only be used with blades ¼" of thickness or greater. Fortunately, replacement holders that use guide blocks can be purchased for under $10 from Grizzly - Grizzly should just include them in the package. If you plan on using a blade smaller than ¼", they are a requirement.
br /
br /Despite the problems I had with initial setup, this is still a great saw for the price. However, if you aren't prepared to deal setup issues that may occur, I would stick to buying a saw from a store where you can either inspect it before buying or return it without dealing with shipping.

minor quibbles but a great value

After 5 years with a 1/2 hp, cast aluminum 30 yr old 12 inch bandsaw that rattled like a dumpster full of sheet metal, I had started to do some reasonably hefty resawing and the current set-up just wasn't going to cut it. heh.
br /
br /I looked around, read up on things, went for a visit to the local (for me) Laguna Tools showroom and after I got over the sticker shock (but the Laguna machines are exquisite), decided on the Grizzly G0555, with the 6" riser block - the riser makes a huge difference for me and doesn't seem to affect the action of the saw at all. (Incidentally, the Laguna showroom had a few competitors - Jet, Dewalt, and a few others that they had taken in trade and they were noticeably flimsier than the Laguna - the Grizzly is not quite as tough as the Laguna, but seems built better than the others.)
br /
br / It came packed more like a piece of computing machinery than a woodworking tool and assembled reasonably easily. (Grizzly warns about having to unload the 200lb crate yourself, but FedEx delivers in SCal with a liftbed truck and will wheel it into your garage). My previous bandsaw predisposed me to appreciate anything that didn't cause the walls to shudder, but it runs /very/ smoothly. With a decent resaw blade, it powers thru 8" ash with little complaint, and it runs true. There are only a few quibbles:
br /- The 105" blade sent with the riser kit is just about useless (at least for my purposes)
br /- The riser block itself shrinks the bed capacity of the saw by about an inch, due to not having the same cutout as the head of the saw - this really isn't an issue for me, but might be for others.
br /- the blade tensioner doesn't seem to have enough range to allow the blade to be put on and still have enough tension when engaged, requiring some futzing with the hex-nuts. I have my blades made a touch bigger.
br /- when the the blade tensioner is released, it should defeat the power switch so you can't start the blade with the tension off.
br /- the switch itself is a bit hard to push
br /- the dust collection isn't designed terrifically well - there's a guard that prevents a lot of dust from being sucked into the lower casing where the suction port is located. The Laguna does it The Right Way.
br /- it may be mentioned somewhere on the site but many/most of the nuts and bolts are metric, so be prepared to be frustrated if you lose one.
br /- there's no wheel brush for the lower wheel (but there's enough space for a cut-off toothbrush to be affixed there.
br /- if you don't buy a set of casters or a mobile base, don't expect it to move without a fight - its 200lbs and the rubber feet stick. I bought the 3" lockable rubber wheels at the same time - they work well, but they also had metric threads, requiring a run to Home Depot to get nuts.
br /
br /Again, the above points do not materially detract from the value of the machine. If I was running a pro shop or money was not an object, there's no question that I'd buy the Laguna (think Lexus), but in terms of quality for $, there's little question that the G0555 is near the top (think Toyota).

good value - but grizzly should have quit while ahead

You absolutely get great value with this saw. Basically it's an old-school, Delta style, cast-iron 14" band saw. Just like my dad owns! But for 2/3 of the price, including shipping.
br /
br /And it includes a nice solid, very usable rip fence - not easy to adjust for blade drift, if that's what you're into, though. Wouldn't necessarily recommend this saw if you're heavily into resawing fancy veneers.
br /
br /1 hp motor is nice and powerful, no complaints there. Out of the box there was significant vibration, but after I tightened nuts on the main bolt holding the top and bottom castings together, this mostly went away. (the nuts are 24 mm, if you're lucky this is the same size as the collet wrench for your router).
br /
br /As well, there's a blade tension quick-release. It's not quite as comfortable to use as an aftermarket version, but then again it's extremely desirable and, hey, didn't have to pay $150 extra for it.
br /
br /Here's where grizzly should have quit. Because instead of the old reliable delta-type solid blade guides, they went with roller guides. Which sounds positive, except these are poorly made, don't roll freely, and, what's worse, if you want to install a very narrow blade where you can't use roller guides, there's no easy retrofit.
br /
br /So you won't regret getting this saw, but grizzly should have quit while they were ahead.

I ordered the G0555 bandsaw along with the riser block kit and another blade, since I was planning to resaw some wide stock. Assembly of the saw went smoothly for the most part with a few exceptions, noted below. In general the saw seems very nice. It is strongly built and runs very smoothly and quietly. It makes a nice addition to my shop. I would recommend this saw to anyone looking for a good low cost band saw. But learn from my mistakes:
br /
br /1. The riser block kit comes with a longer post for holding the upper guide block. They mention in the instructions that you should push the old post out while sliding the new one into place. The reason for this is a spring-loaded ball bearing that keeps the post aligned. The ball rides in a V-groove along the length of the post. If it pops out, it's very difficult to get back in place. I followed the directions, but the ball popped out anyway. It took me over an hour to get the ball back in place with the new post. The chamfered ends of the posts leave a gap where the ball bearing can pop out.
br /
br /2. With the new riser block installed, the upper and lower wheels were non-coplanar by about a quarter of an inch. No problem, just add a couple of washers to even the wheels out. But they forget to tell you that the bolt holding the lower wheel is left-hand threaded. I found out when I sheared off the bolt head. I had to order a new bolt from Grizzly, since the local hardware stores don't carry any left-threaded metric bolts. The washers were a little bit of a problem, too. In order to clear the bearing without interference, the washer closest to the bearing needs to be about 1 inch outside diameter and 3/4 inch inside. Luckily I had a thin washer with the right inside diameter, and was able to cut it down to a smaller outside diameter with some snips. For the remaining washers I used fairly standard hardware store variety (with notches filed on the inside to clear the shaft key).
br /
br /3. I ordered a 3/4 inch wide, 105 inch blade for resawing, and received a mislabeled blade that was about 150 inches long. I called Grizzly and arranged to send the wrong blade back and get a replacement. They were nice about it and made the process easy.
br /
br /4. In reattaching the switch assembly after installing the riser block, I found that there is no place to reattach the cable clamp that held the wires in place. This is not really a big deal and I'm not going to worry about it. However, the lack of a hole to reinstall the grounding screw bothers me a little. I may drill and tap a hole to make sure the switch enclosure is grounded to the frame of the saw, as it was before installation of the riser block. But for now, it's not stopping me from using the saw.
br /
br /Anyway, despite my minor complaints, I really like this saw and expect to get a lot of use out of it in the future.

First, let me say this is my first bandsaw. I worked mostly from a cost/performance consideration in choosing it, and must say I am very pleased.
br /
br /I had asked the trucking company to use a liftgate, but when the truck came - no gate. The driver and I quite readily got it off and into my garage. He jokingly (I think) said he must have upset someone at work, because this was the fourth heavy item he had to unload that day. Let me say that the drivers aren't required to unload items, but this shipping company/driver did so anyway. You need to check with your haulers BEFORE it arrives, as lift gates cost you more.
br /
br /Upon arrival, setup was a breeze. It came fairly well packed and all the important machined areas were coated with a gummy protective coating that was easy to remove with a rag and mineral spirits.
br /
br /I ordered the 6" riser block along with the saw. So I didn't have to disassemble and reassemble it later. This actually made overall assembly easier. The actual power unit is assembled upon arrival...one heavy assembly to lift onto the base. To put the riser in, I split the top off of the bottom with one bolt. Then I installed the bottom (with motor) onto the base, then the riser, then the very top of the unit and reattached using the longer bolt supplied with the riser assembly. The alignment pins in the riser allowed a precise coplaner wheel alignment. Tracking the blade was simple and, even having added the riser, nearly perfect out of the box.
br /
br /I also bought the "The Bandsaw Book" by Lonnie Bird, which I really found useful in explaining blade options and the optimal setup.
br /
br /Sadly, the extra Timberwolf blade that they sent as a bonus with my saw was a 93 incher, and not usable with my riser, which now needs a 105" blade.
br /
br /I bought several blades over a range of widths and varying TPI, since it now needs the 105" blades. I must say that the factory installed 93" blade appears to be HORRIBLE. It had little set to it, and was somewhat rusty in appearance. Indeed, a friend who has been woodworking much longer than I have, laughed at the blade.
br /
br /I had only one very minor issue. One of the two plastic knob with a metal thread insert that locks the table on the trunions had thread damage. A quick call to Grizzly support and they had a new one to me in a matter of days. Their support staff is really top notch, based on this call and other dealings I've had with them about my jointer.
br /
br /I don't have any real basis to compare upon, but having gone through and setup the saw based on "The Bandsaw Book", the cuts are dead on and wonderful.
br /
br /I also ordered 4 of the "Woodstock International H0699 3" Red Polyurethane Swivel Caster w/ Brake, Threaded" and directly mounted them to the base for mobility using nuts bought at Lowes. The wheels are cheaper than a mobile base, and the way these specific wheels lock, make the saw really stable.
br /
br /I am a very satisfied customer, and will be looking at Grizzly whenever I need more equipment in the future.

I sold my old Craftsman 12" tilting head bandsaw, due to lack of power and limited resawing capacity. This saw is so much better, it is like night and day. I purchased the saw, riser kit and several blades. I was able to install the riser by myself but that is not recommended (get help putting the saw together). The set up and manual are very straight forward and easy to follow. I put a 1/2" 3tpi blade in it and cut a 7" thick walnut bowl blank to test it out. It did that no problem, so I resawed the 12" diameter blank in two. No problem, keep in mind that this is green wood. However, still very impressive for a 14" bandsaw. The only hang up was that I paid for lift gate service and in the end the frieght company made me pick it up at there dock. However, Grizzly refunded the lift gate charge and was very good about, it they even called back to make sure I was ok with the refund. Great Customer service. I look forward to many years of service from this saw.

I looked at all the options for a home woodshop bandsaw, and I think this saw is definately the best bang for the buck. Delta is selling a similarly priced model at Lowe's, and Rigid is selling a similarly priced model at HD, but I don't think there's any comparison in quality -- you just get more for your money with the Grizzly. You certainly get much better blade guides with the Grizzly, but I also think the overall construction, fit, and finish is better.
br /
br /I got the 6 inch riser kit and installed it right away. Assembly was easy. The manual is well written, and is actually very useful. After assembly I checked to see if the upper and lower wheels were co-planar, and they were out by .090". Inserting a .090" thick washer behind the upper wheel quickly brought it into alignment (this is all covered very clearly in the owners manual).
br /
br /The only small issue I had was with the fence. The main fence rail was a little warped, so the the fence would bind up when sliding along the rail. Grizzly customer service was pleasant, helpful, and had a new part on my doorstep in a couple of days. Not bad for one phone call. No complaints there -- Grizzly customer service rates a 10 in my book. The new fence rail works like a charm.

I recently purchased the G0555 after reading a number of reviews and comparing other brands. The order arrived in one week by Federal Express ground transportation. I had been led to believe that I had to unload the saw from the truck. Not only did I not have to worry about this, the driver used a lift to take the box into my garage. Everything came in one box. I live in Southern California and the driver said that it is their policy to unload for the customer. I can tell you without hesitation that for the money this band saw is first rate. The quality control is outstanding. Fit and finish is every bit as good and even better than Delta and Jet. The saw is very heavy. I took another reviewers advise and bought a mobile base. I put the base together first, and then put the stand together and fitted it to the mobile base. I took my time. The next problem was how to get the band saw itself mounted on the stand. Since I had no help, I bought a simple and cheap rope hoist. I strung it over a beam in my garage and lifted the saw into the air. I then moved the stand on the mobile base under the saw and let it down exactly over the mounting holes and bolted it down. I then fitted the trunnon and the cast iron table and finished bolting it. The aluminum extruded fence and rails fitted prefectly to the table. Doors fit well and the castings smooth. How they can sell such a well built and thought out band saw for $375 is beyond me. When they say it is built to ISO 9001 standards, trust me it is good. It has a quick release tension control on the saw that you would have to pay extra for on a Jet, or pay up to $800 for the Delta.

I bought mine last fall. It arrived promptly, and was easy to assemble...with one exception. The holes in the table, to support the front fence support were drilled, but not threaded. Someone at the factory didn't tap the threads. It was easy to do myself, and after a few minutes I was able to complete the assembly. That's why only 4 stars. Otherwise it would get 5.
br /
br /Assembly was a piece of cake. The upper part was very heavy for one person to lift onto the base, and I didn't have anyone to help. So I came up with an alternative. I assembled it on the floor...laying horizontal. Then, I was able to tilt it up from the floor by myself.
br /
br /Alignment was perfect out of the box. I did, of course, have to adjust the guide bearings, and tension the blade.
br /
br /The stand is indeed very stable. But I needed mobility, so installed wheels instead the normal feet. The saw is very top heavy, and even with good quality wheels, it can be pretty scary when when rolling across the shop floor. The best way is the push or pull it from the lowest part of the base that is comfortable...not from any part of the saw itself.
br /
br /The only change I would like to see in the saw is a paddle type off switch. The push buttons are fine, and are high quality, but I would prefer a paddle that I could hit easily.
br /
br /I too ordered a riser block at a later date. While not a standard part of this bandsaw, it is a very common add-on, and well worth the money.
br /
br /I am very pleased with mine. It is one of the most popular bandsaws out there for a number of very good reasons...including price and quality.

This is a fantastic saw, lots of power, very accurate, but also heavy (get help lifting out of the box and up onto the stand). The first thing I used it for was resawing 6 inch wide hard maple; went like butter. Really quality made products here, I also have from Grizzly a drill press and 6 inch joiner. I would recommend mobile bases if you need to move things around due to a small shop, for the price you pay for them they are worth every penny and some.
br /
br / The only gripes I have, and they are not major, if you are getting a 3/4 blade they do not tell you that the 93 1/2 blade is the easier to put on it, I got the 92 1/2 and it was very very tight to put on even after all adjustments were loosened to their max and because of this it kinked the blade a bit. The only other is their shipping department needs to get organized, I ordered 1 and received 3 bandsaws, all w/ my name on them and 1 had another customers name on it as well. Yes I was honest and had them returned, it helps keep the costs down on their products for all of us!!! Please do the same if it happens to you.
br /
br / Fantastic machines, customer service, and the best is the low prices for very high quality products. Just buy it no matter what the lady of the house says, make her something when it comes to shut her up, but also remember to clean up your mess afterwards. hahahahaha Enjoy!

Truly the ultimate bandsaw for the small shop. I am constantly impressed by the quality of this saw and the other Grizzly products. Buy it and you will not be disappointed. Make sure you have some help for unloading and setting up the saw; it can be challenging, although possible, for only one person to set it up.

This is the first piece of machinery I've over the internet so I was initially a little skeptical. Also, this is the first Grizzly product I've ever purchased. However, after reading all the other reviews I decided to take the plunge. I had seen the delta and ridgid and other brands in the local stores but the fit and finish of the Grizzly blows them away. Assembly was
br /a non event and everything was in perfect shape although the box was a little scuffed. The belt wheels were already perfect from the factory and blade alignment was a snap. Oh, by the way, this is the first bandsaw I've ever owned or had anything to do with and I couldn't be happier. Quiet and smooth running. If this is any indication of the rest of Grizzlys machinery, it certainly won't be my last purchase from this supplier!

I wanted to upgrade from an inexpensive 12" inch band saw I have had for some time to a 14 inch bandsaw mainly to resaw boards. Having researched 14 inch band saws for several months I decided on a Delta bandsaw. However, the shipment was delayed several times extending for over 4 months for some unknown reason. I cancelled the order and purchased the Grizzly Ultimate Band Saw and the extension kit based on advertised features and reviews. The saw so far performs well for resawing boards. Two minor problems I had with the saw were that I replaced the wing nut on the tracking mechanism with a more substantial hex nut after the wing nut cracked, but that was partly my fault for using too much pressure on the pliers. Also, the band saw blade that came with the saw extension kit was defective, and I replaced it with a low tension 3/4 inch (Swedish Silicon Steel)Timber Wolf blade. Contrary to what some band saw books say about using 3/4 inch blades on low end 14 inch band saws, I had no trouble correctly tensioning the Timber Wolf 3/4 inch blade so that it tracks accurately on the Grizzly. It did take me a little bit of time, however, to learn how to correctly tension the blade since the tensioning process was not clearly explained, at least to my satifaction, in the manual.

I'm a amateur wood worker that just likes to make home improvements around the house. This is my first bandsaw. Anyways, I don't have an issue with the bandsaw itself; however, I do have a problem with one quality issue where the new 6" riser block made the wheels fall out of alignment (coplaner) by more than a quarter inch. I called grizzly tech support to ask their suggestions on what I should do. One person who wrote a review on Amazon said that he had ground off the pegs that align the extension block with the bandsaw, and he also used shims on the bottom wheel to bring everything within alignment.
br / The Grizzly Tech Support Rep did not suggest grinding off the alignment pins because they do offer some kind of structual support. He did suggest that I could pull out the old pins and drill new holes to relocate the pins. I didn't really like that idea, for they should have been aligned from the factory. Why should I do that for something that I had paid for to be right in the first place! If I screwed things up, what recourse would I have had. So, I opted not to do that.
br / Initially, the tech support person told me that I would have to send back my old block, and that they would send me out a replacement extension block. Then, after a little bit of thinking, he told me to keep my old extension block, and they would send me out a new extension block with no additional cost to me. The tech supoprt rep told me to keep the old block because they were not going to redrill it and use it/sell it again. So, all in all this experience was a little bit frustrating because of their quality control issue, but hopefully things will work out right with the new extension block.

I have been sending Grizzly Industrial a lot of business over the last couple of years to include a 14" bench top drill press, 35.5" lathe, dust collector and an asssortment of other items. The saw arrived quickly and in perfect shape, my shop is upstairs in my barn so a second person is needed to carry the saw itself if you are going to be negotiating stairs. Set up took no time, just the stand and putting the table/trunion on. Adjustments are perfect from the factory, just align the bearing blade guides and start making saw dust. Great tool for all types of wood, plenty of power, quiet, and finally a band saw with the dust port located where it is supposed to be, and a REAL rip fence included! I will definitely get the riser kit for re-saw applications. My advise for the small shop owner, buy it...you won't be disappointed. I looked at many others prior to making this purchase and you can't beat the price and quality. Also, look for their items made in ISO factories. Neal A. Douglas ATC(AW/SW) USN Gouverneur, NY

br /
br /I did weeks of research and looked at a lot of 14" Bandsaws before purchasing this one and I am very satisfied. It is well made and for the price, you cannot beat this saw.
br /
br /Assembly was easy. The saw was ready to cut in about 2-hours after unpacking it.
br /
br /The day after I received the saw, I received a small package from Grizzly. It was a free ½" Timberwolf Blade.

br /Next time I need anything for my shop I'll go to Grizzly first.

I waited about 2 years to purchase a band saw. Looked at others and then called Grizzly. Item arrived in top shape and had it running in about 2 hours with ease. No extra nuts or bolts too! did a check on blade alingment and table squarness and everything was true. Even the fence was true right out of the box. Dust collection was adequate too once I hooked it my system. Big surprise was how quiet and smooth everthing is when running. I did purchase a lamp and new blade thought. But once you add all those things up, it still beats other by far.

This is my third bandsaw.I added the riser block from the start and have used only 105" blades.I also just added a 1/2" carbide tipped blade ($105), not cheap but worth it for resawing. The saw cuts great and blade changes are quick and easy. The only problem I have had is one of the blade guide bearings had to be replaced, Grizzly sent me 2 new ones free. This is a very well built saw and should last a very long time.

Like some of the other reviewers, I too could not decide which bandsaw to purchase. Wanted to upgrade from my 12", so looked at and read all reviews on bandsaws before choosing the Grizzly G0555. I can't believe Grizzly can sell this for $375 + shipping. After receiving the saw, it was better quality than the $800 saws I was looking at. I also bought the riser block for more resaw capability. Never used the blade that came with the saw. I opted to go ahead while assembling and put a Timber Wolf blade on. This saw is great. If you are thinking about a new saw, you won't go wrong on this one. Good job Grizzly.

I bought this band saw with some misgivings because what I really wanted was the 17" with the built in 12 inch resaw capability. However, I spoke to another wood worker who had this bandsaw and he was very happy with his, so.... I bought the 555 with price being a major concern. The saw is a bit noisy but performs pretty well on normal material. Normal meaning the usual 3/4 inch lumber and 4-5 inch resaw taskings. I did purchase the riser block but this saw is just not designed for the abuse I was giving it. I eventually sold this saw(at a loss of course) and bought a much higher level band saw that I simply love. (paid about $1200 for it too. You get what you pay for) The grizzly 555 is a fine saw for most home shop needs. But if you expect it to do the big jobs, well.. it will, but not real well. If it had a bigger motor, maybe.

I am not going to go over most of the positives that were mentioned numerous times by other reviewers. Here are some positive points not mentioned as often: 1.) Fit and finish are excellent. And I love the "Grizzly Green" poweder coat metallic paint.2.) Packaging design is exceptional. The box obviously got bumped around a bit in transit, but the contents were perfectly protected.3.) Instruction manual was very clear. They even give you a chance to give them feedback to improve the manual. 4.) I did have trouble with the delivery company. I called Grizzly to get it straightened out. They jumped all over themselves trying to make it right. Grizzly customer service is world class.5.) Technical support also is excellent. I have not needed them on this product, but have gotten clear, quick help from them on other products. In my opinion, you can not buy a better 14" bandsaw for the money, and perhaps not for twice the price.

Purchased the G0555 after much thought and speculations about getting a larger machine. Went to their outlet in Springfield, Missouri to discuss the bandsaw and a shaper. Their staff is professional and able to answer many questions. Decided on the 14 inch G0555 after seeing it and reading the reviews on the Internet. Wanted to bring the machines home myself as I have had too many problems with trucking companies. My shop includes machines by Dewalt, Delta, Jet, Ridgid, and Grizzly. When I got the bandsaw into its area and began setting it up, I naturally compared the bandsaw to its neighbors. In fit, finish, ease of setup, and general quality, the G0555 was easily as good or better than the other brand names. This was a bit of a surprise as the older Grizzly drill press I had from the company was a modest example of the woodworking art.The helpful folks at the loading warehouse indicated to me that they received machines from both Taiwan and Chinese factories. They suggested that the Taiwanese machines were higher in quality; I only have their word on this.Nonetheless, the G0555 is a happy camper cutting through hardwoods, making quick turns, and running very smoothly. I was concerned about vibration since it is the bane of all craftsman. This machine cuts rock solid and does not place movement demands on its stable base.It is discouraging to hear from a previous reviewer that parts are very expensive for the Grizzly. It would be even worse if they were unavailable. Have not tried the height extension kit yet but am planning on purchasing this soon to aid with resawing. Suggest to the same previous reviewer that if he is having trouble with power, he try one of the specialty blades available; they cut much more easily than the stock ones.Think that Grizzly has changed its image from that of an importer producing economy machines to a full-fledged competitor in the mid- to high-end woodworking market. Try one of their newer designed machines and see if you agree.

This is my first band saw. I own a Grizzly 10" table saw which I absolutely love, so Grizzly was my firt choice fr this. I checked out all the competition, jet, delta, etc...then I almost got cought up in the horsepower hype....after I did the research and realized that I wont be re-sawing telephone poles, the facts presented themselves.....dollar for dollar...you will not get a better saw. It set up easily, tracked fine, and works great. I had one issue (minor)...I got the 6" riser kit and when I was replacing the pole for the blade guide with the bigger one, a ball bearing popped out that is supposed to keep tension on pole....it is next to impossible to put back in although I have had no problems with out it.....Other then that, as other reviews state, the blade is junk, but that's ok....I am a grizzly convert....My work shop will be Grizzly green, as I get the jointer next.

This is the ultimate bandsaw for the money. No pund intended. I looked at the Jet Models and compared horse-power, number of spokes per wheel, construction and cost. I looked at all the woodworking dealers in my area and you will not find a better band saw for the money. Not only that it comes with a fence and miter, extra on other models. The fence is a godsend.
br /
br /The unit will take some time calibrating. Well worth the effort. I like the quick release for the blade. The cast aluminum parts concern me because you have to be careful not to over-tighten things. Get a mobel base for this unit if you plan on moving it around, it's heavy. Don't buy the one from Fox (I did and don't like it at all).

I now own several Grizzly products (2 HP Dust collector, 6" jointer, and now the G0555) and I've found them all to be great, low-priced but high quality products. The bandsaw was delivered to my door (it was a Christmas present from my wife) and it took about 2-3 hours to put together and calibrate. It works great, has minimal vibration, and cuts very cleanly.Assembly was easy, the manual is easy to understand and you can download the manual via PDF file from Grizzly's web site if you happen to lose it.Another thing I like about this saw was the 4" dust collection - it's on the bottom wheel well where all the dust collects - I've hooked it up and it collects the dust very well. So far I've resawn some 5" lacewood to 3/16", sawn the top off a tea chest I'm making, and cut some hard maple. The engine is powerful and what I was particularly happy with was that the resawn lacewood was a very straight cut even using the standard 3/8" blade. I am changing this over on the weekend to a better 5/8" blade as I need to cut some birds-eye maple.

br /An experienced woodworker friend of mine was quick to notice the pressure release mechanism for the blade and the upper and lower guide bearings as well as the dual tilt table and remarked that he had seen more expensive saws with fewer features. I bought the riser block for resawing and have since bought a couple of blades directly from Grizzly. Their service is very fast though you do have shipping charges.

with this bandsaw. It was easily assembled and tracked true on the first try. It is very smooth running and easily adjusted. Two features I especially like are: The wheel doors open without removing any knobs and the quick blade tension release. The order and shipping was well done. Had the saw in 8 days from order to receiving it. By the way, the Overnite truck driver helped unload the TS,BS,fence etc. and was a great help.

I'm happy with this rig so far. I needed to upgrade my old one to handle curved rafters for a dozen or so barrel roofed dormers with accompaning trim. Once setup (coplaner OK on this one) and a new blade installed, the job went well.
br /
br /I've ordered a wheel brush (after market) and may add a work light.
br /
br /Only problem I've had, so far, is to remember to engage the tension lever before turning on the saw (duh).
br /
br /Unexpectedly, Grizzly send along a free Timber Wolf 93-1/2" x 1/2" blade, very nice ...... unfortunately, I had subsequently ordered the riser kit and need 105" blades.
br /
br /One thing to note, you do lose 1" of throat depth (width of cut) when installing the 6" riser kit.
br /
br /Delivery was very good, I was "in the loop" of comunication and the unit was placed on my drive in good condition.
br /
br /My intermitent use of a bandsaw did not justify a budget breaking machine (drool).... but I find this unit (and features) to be a "bear" of a tool and feel that it'll surpass my needs for years to come.

I did a lot of research and looked at various bandsaws for a year or two before making a decision (and convincing myself to spend the money). I was originally going to buy a Jet but decided to give the Grizzly a try after seeing some of their tools in a persons shop. I am glad I did! Big motor, quiet, tracks flawlessly, ball bearing blade guides, great fence. This is an industrial machine. After reading a book on bandsaws I found that almost every feature they tell you to look for is on the Grizzly G0555. And they don't even mention the brand in the book! Great saw, great price.

First, I don't personally own this saw, but my brother does. I own several other Grizzly machines, including a tablesaw and a jointer. My brother lives in rural Wyoming, and the saw was delivered to him via truck, backing right up to his shop. No damage was noted and assembly went smoothly.I didn't get my hands on the saw til it was already set up, but I can say that it performs on par with every 1hp Delta or Jet bandsaw out there. Combine the included fence and upgraded rollers etc., and you are closer to the Delta X5 bandsaw, which is nearly twice the price. If I had the room, I would purchase this saw for myself. As for the reviewer who complains about expensive parts: I recently bought my G1182Z 6" jointer used. It was missing several parts for the fence. Before making the deal, I downloaded both the manual and the exploded parts diagram from Grizzly's website, and called customer service to check on parts prices. The missing parts were not overly cosmic, but they were specialized for that jointer. I got the half dozen or so parts I needed for around $15, and received them less than a week later. If I had to guess, I'd say the previous poster had trouble with his bandsaw parts because it's a brand-new model. I'd be willing to bet that in a few months, the parts chain will be smoothed out. Over the years, I have been very satisfied with Grizzly's customer service. If I had to change anything, I would make customer service a toll-free call, but perhaps this discourages people from calling unless they really need customer service.

The Grizzly 14 inch band saw is a well build and constructed saw. The price on this saw for what you get is awsome! I shopped around for about 2 months and even the Jet(which is my favorite brand)didnt come close to the features this had. Shipping was very fast only 1 day in MA. The fence on this saw is what sold me.A+ would reccomend this to any woodworker.

This is a good bandsaw for the price. But it comes with a really useless blade. Blade tensioning broke after only a few months so I can no longer adjust the tension on the blade, rendering the saw somewhat useless. Not a bad saw for basic work but for cutting big or heavy things, the motor is underpowered.

I just bought the Tiawan built Grizzly G0555 about a month ago.
br /The main problem was that it came from factory with the wheels out of plane. The upper wheel was set back about 1/4 inch from the bottom wheel. When I shimmed the wheel out to be coplanar with bottom, the upper wheel axle only caught 1/2 the thread on the holding nut. That of course is totally unacceptable. After many conversations with the US support (nice guys but lacking the facilities to fix the problem) I realized that I had to fix it myself or send it back. I took the chance and using a grinder cut off the matching pins in the bottom casting that were holding the top casting out of plane. Then I feather gound just enough to clean the surfaces of each casting. This is where the riser goes if you were to buy one. I can't imagine how out of whack this bandsaw would be if you used a riser. Then I used putty epoxy on each surface and put the big bolt with nut to hold the two castings together. With slow drying time, I used two large c-clamps to pull the upper casting so that the upper wheel was perfectly in plane with the bottom wheel. Since the large bolt without the pins would otherwise allow the upper casting to swing to any angle, it was important to lock the position with epoxy since I no longer had the pins (which were in the wrong place from the factory). Miracle of miracles, it worked. My saw is now perfectly coplanar so that I can tune it to cut straight.
br /
br /Since if the wheels are not coplanar, there is no way you can tune this bandsaw, I don't know how they can get away with such bad quality assurance out the factory. The support guys said I could just pull the pins with a pair of pliers. NO WAY. They were swaged in place.
br /
br /I am now happy with the saw but I wouldn't want anyone to buy this saw expecting it to come from the factory in acceptable condition. The sad part is that it is a nice saw for the money in every other respect. Well, the fence is a bit shabby but about what you would expect for the money - so I'm okay with it.

I purchased this saw about a year ago. Everything was fine as i assembled the saw and for the first several months all was OK. I began to notice that the table didn't remain perpendicular to the blade even after I had tightened the knobs which hold the table in place. I carefully set up the stop bolt to make the table perpendicular but discovered that since it only supported one half of the table, the table was slightly twisted. The table went out of square frequently and was a pain to deal with. I began to realize that the guide bearing frames were not properly made and changed as you tightened them. The general engineering of this part was poor. Just recently one of the guide bearing seized and discovered that it would cost $6.50 to get a new one and $7.50 to ship it. It would easily fit in an envelope and cost less than a $1 to ship. The insert around the blade does not come up to the level of the table and causes a "snag" when feeding small objects. It also catches lots of dust and wood fibers making passage of the piece difficult. In general, the saw does OK, but there are lots of details which don't add up to a first class machine. With some more attention to detail and quality control, this would be an excellent machine.

This is my second bandsaw. The first was an older craftsman that was noisy with a plastic housing but worked okay. This G0555 is much improved over what I had. Package arrived on time, I picked it up myself at the fedex warehouse. It's 200 pounds in one big box. I unpacked it in the back of my truck and took it out piece by piece. The frame and motor are heavy, but not too too bad.
br /
br /Most other reviews cover pretty well the setup of the machine. I didn't order the 6 inch riser. I don't resaw much, plus I have friends with larger BS if needed. Don't even instal the blade that comes with the saw. Buy something better, Grizzly seems to ship a free timberwolf 1/2 blade with the saw. My timberwolf blade arrived after the saw, but you should really buy a decent blade.
br /
br /Now for a review of the saws function. I like the motor on the outside of the saw, easy to access. When I set this saw up the wheels were not coplanar and the lower wheel was slighly warped. I called grizzly and after a few minutes of explanation to the tech I had a replacement on the way. I arrived in a couple of days and was easy to instal. I shimmed out the bottom wheel a bit to make the blade square to the table in both dirrections. I forgot who said it first but getting wheels "coplanar" is not nessasary. As long as your blade tracks good in the center of the upper wheel and the blade is square to the table, coplanar (to a degree) doesn't matter. The new lower wheel was good and the saw no ran with little to no vibration.
br /
br /Guide bearings both upper and lower are easy to adjust and so far have stayed put. I added some urethane tires and vibration went to zero. I also added a Y fitting to the rear dust port to add some 2 inch pipe for dust collection under the table. Next to my planer and jointer the bandsaw creates a lot of dust. Add some sort of wheel brush. Bent tooth brushes work good. After these minor tweaks, I think the saw runs great. Grizzly customer service is good. Strange that most of the wheels need to be shimmed slightly, but it's not tough to do. I built a small baby gate for some stairs using 8/4 and 1 inch poplar recently. Design called for 20 3/4 x 5/8 slats that I cut on the BS using the fence. All cuts were very accurate. If you get your blade tracking proper with the right tension there should be no drift. I've never once had to draw a line on a board and adjust the fence for drift.
br /
br /My conclusion is that this is a good saw and great for the price. It seems few tools are perfect out of the box, so make a few tweaks yourself and this saw can really run nice.

As a new wood worker I wanted to fill my garage with quality tools at a reasonable price. Grizzly seems to really fit the bill when it comes to this. I've had the g0555 for a little over a year now and I've enjoyed it so much that I purchased the 8" parallelogram jointer yesterday. The quality of the band saw is a lot higher than I expected for the price, and I was pleasantly surprised when I picked it up from the shipping depot. When I first used it I was impressed by the quietness, and the stability, but not the quality of cut. For a while I was a bit put off by how much drift I was getting in the blade. As soon as I changed the blade that came with the riser block kit for a higher quality blade, it was like using a new machine. The bottom line for this saw is that it is a fantastic value, but buy it along with a good quality blade and you won't be disappointed.

Update:
br /The trunions are kinda cheap aluminium. They are held by bolts. After re-adjusting the table several times, the bolt washers were cutting up the trunions. I replaced the bolts with studs and nuts. much easier to adjust.
br /I have resawed lots of cherry to make bookmatched door panels. I would buy this saw again but I would prefer cast trunions for more strenght and stability.
br /
br /I have a Grizzly table saw, Grizzly 2 hp chip and dust collector, Grizzly baby drum sander, and a Grizzly miter saw stand. They all work flawlessly. My jointer is a Jet and my planer and miter saw are DeWalt.
br /Since this is my first bandsaw, I have nothing to compare against.
br /Out of the box and assembled, it ran fairly smooth but had some vibration. The setup was fairly easy except for getting the table parallel to the blade. I gave up on that for now. The practice blade cut ok for crosscutting. Ripping wood caused the blade to wander slightly. Resawing wandered a bit also. But not bad for a cheapo blade.
br /Since I purchased the riser block and upgraded resaw fence, I decided to get it all installed and work from there. The first issue was with the riser block. The pins were out of allignment with the bottom of the block. I filed them to make it work. I attempted to set things up and noticed the wheels were out of plane considerably. I started the moter. It vibrated more than a vegas bed. I attempted to resaw. Disaster. The blade tracked so much it almost broke. Shimming the bottom wheel out would be an exercise in futility. Hmmm, the riser block! I removed the block and cut off the bottom pins with a hacksaw. Took about 30 seconds. Replaced the block and rather heavy and awkward top. Used a wood clamp to hold it on while I popped in the bolt. Tapped the whole top unit over about 1/4" or so to bring the wheels into coplane to within 1/32" or so. Tracked the blade, set the blade guides and decided to try a little resawing on some cherry. The blade still tracked badly and it started to smoke. It was ruined. I then purchased a 3/4" wood slicer, set up everything by the book, and did some more resawing. Sliced like butter! Still a bit of vibration. The rubber tires had some flat spots. Replaced with orange urethane tires. $25 for a set of 2 from Rockler. Best price on the net. Vibration all but disappeared.
br /The saw is solidly built, has a strong motor, and options that much higher priced saws have. The stand is very sturdy and rolls around nicely with the addition of some 2" wheels. The fit and finish are not nearly as nice as the Jet but I didn't buy this saw to drive to car shows. I bought it to resaw hardwoods.
br /I expected some setup issues and was not disappointed. Definately worth the time. Would have cost about twice the cash for a comparable jet or delta.
br /This is a nice addition to my shop. Grizzly does it again!

For the price of this band saw you cannot go wrong. I set mine up as follows: 220V, Timberwolf blades, 6" riser kit. I can easily resaw 13" logs with a 3/4 inch TW blade without the saw bogging down. The saw does take some tweaking, once I added the 6" riser the wheels went out of coplainer. I polished all the paint off of the mating surfaces and added a few thin shims and it is close, not perfect but acceptable. the blade tension release and spring need to be upgraded. with a large blade it is hard to get the tension tight enough and when I did I bent the tension bar on the back of the saw. I called Grizzly and they sent me a new set of bars, instead of replacing them I installed both sets at the same time, this fixed that issue. As far as the spring goes, just replace it with a third party spring of your choice. no more problems. The blade guides are good and changing blades is pretty straight forward. The fence that comes with the saw is nothing special but considering most band saws don't come with one it is not bad. You don't get much adjustment for drift but if you get your wheels right you shouldn't need much. one other thing, the saw is top heavy, if you have to move it around you should bolt or strap it to the base so you don't push it over.
br /
br /Buy the riser with the saw so you only have to set it up once.

I received this saw and the height extension as a X-mas gift from the LOML. I think I will keep her, the wife and the saw that is. I had this up and running in no time, some of you may need help to lift the saw onto the stand. Adjustments were very easy and the blade cuts nicely for a standard blade. I have had no trouble cutting complex curves in very thick 24/4 stock or cutting bowl blanks with green or dry hardwood. The fit and finish is flawless and makes this tool really stand out in my shop. I would not hesitate to buy any other Grizzly power tool.

Recieved saw and upon assembly found that the riser block kit was missing the guide tube, rendering the saw unusable for my purposes. So far I've made 3 calls to Grizzly customer support, spoken with 5 different people and have yet to recieve any commitment from Grizzly on either sending me the missing part, or returning the unit as defective. The technician who said he would call me back never did, nor did the customer service rep who made the same promise. The one manager that I've spoken to suggested that my only recourse was to write an email to customer service, which has gone unanswered. My pre-purchase research had lead me to expect *much* better customer service than this, perhaps their standards have fallen.

Once I figure out the name of all the controls the bandsaw was easy to put into operation.Only recommendation is a pull out pictorial that can be detached from the set-up instructions. This is one excellent saw!!!!. I have already used it to build an Adirondack glider.

I bought the Grizzly G0555 14" Bandsaw, 6" riser block and resaw guide one month ago for the immediate purpose of resawing a 10" oak board to make a 10"x8"x3/8" lap board for a friend who uses a wheelchair. The saw and attachments arrived promptly (I picked up the 200# saw at the freight dock) without any damage. The saw took me about half a day to assemble and adjust, and it ran well when I plugged it in. I was skeptical that the included blade wouldn't saw that hard 10.5 inch oak board, however by feeding the piece slowly I resawed two separate boards very well. I've also used the saw to rip and cut curves on some picket fence boards. I had to adjust the blade tension once but that was not hard to do. I'm very happy with Grizzly and I appreciate feedback from other reviewers prompting me to decide on this particular saw. It seems to be a quality product for the price and I don't expect to ever have to replace it.

I just assembled this saw with the riser block option. I have used it very little so far, so this review is just my first impression. It is a great saw! Many standard features on this saw are an extra expense on other saws costing much more. I paid just over $500 to get the saw, riser block, and 2 extra blades. The Jet and Delta versions of this are $650 without a riser, and they come with no fence and no miter gauge.
br /
br /It is a quiet running saw and it was not difficult to set up. The alignment is good and the adjustments are easy. The fit and finish are excellent. The table top is ground to perfection. The fence has an easy to read scale that is real easy to set up.
br /
br /I made one mistake when assembling the saw. I used the wrong set of threaded holes when I installed the fence, and it made the front fence rail too high. After I realized my mistake it was very easy to take it off and re-install using the proper holes.

Grizzly G0555 is a great band saw. I bought the rizer block kit for this bs and it was excellent, easy to install and when installed the upper and lower wheels were lined up within .005, better than the origal set up that was .011. Fit and finnish is very good. only had to adjust the extended blade guard, witch rubbed the upper wheel when in the fully up position. The only real complaint I have is with the dust control fitting. It is cast within the bottom casting and has a grid across the opening. When cutting with the grain it catches the long fibers and plugs up. Just something you have to pay attention to. I havent done any resawing yet but I expect the bs to do this task as well as it does everything I have done sofar.

This saw was reasonably priced compared with many others I looked at, and included accessories others did not (particularly a nice guide fence, miter gauge, and tools to put it together). It was easy to set up and works like a charm. It took very little adjusting to make everything square. It runs very smooth and quiet, and has a nice 4" dust which keeps the cutting area fairly clean. The table tilts easily and smoothly, the angles are correct, and the saw stands at a good height. The saw is very heavy and takes two men to move, but very stable as a result. Very little vibration and no movement. The blade that comes with it is a rough cut blade and leaves a lot of saw marks, but that obviously can be changed out depending on your needs. Overall a great saw for the money. By the way, Grizzly provided great packing and quick shipping. This is a great deal.

i bought this saw 4 months ago and have nothing but good things to say. At 395.00 there is no other bandsaw on the market that delivers grizzly's quality at that price. I considered buying a number of saws before picking the grizzly saw. It didn't make sense to buy a jet or delta for 500.00, when they don't have ball bearing blade guides nor quick tension release. I was concerned about the 1 hp motor but it turns out to be quite powerful. I would recommend this saw to any one.

I haven't had much of a chance to try this saw but I put it together and didn't do anything to make adjustments and it worked perfectly. I replaced my old Delta because I could not get it to keep the blade on. Trouble since new. I am very optimistic with this saw.

After fighting my innerself against my brand loyalty to Delta, I finally hit the checkout button and purchased the Grizzly G0555 14" Bandsaw. I am happy to say, I'm glad I did. I think I got more for my money. This saw is rugged and attractive in the shop. Thanks to all the prior reviews in helping me decide, you were very helpful.

This is a great purchase. Grizzly named this one perfictly "ULTIMATE". It came totally loaded just like it said. I had it up and running smooth in 20mins, the only problem I had was getting my wife to help lift it. It is not light my recommendations would be to get a rolling stand if you have limited space and move tools in and out to use them. The quality of the factory blade is not real good, but is good if it is your first bandsaw. Back to the accessories, this saw had everything but the tire brush. Totally the best tool I have purchased on line with out playing the "hands on game"

After three months of research, the Grizzly G0555 Band saw seemed to be my best choice two replace an old craftsman band saw. I live about 2 ½ hours from their Pennsylvania warehouse, and decided to go to their advertised "Tent Sale". I had a relative drive me, since I am of poor health, and can no longer drive. Upon arrival I looked at all of the Grizzly Band saws in the showroom; they all seemed well built. I compared the G0555 saw to the 15" and 16" closed-stand model. The larger saws were much heavier and sturdier, but for me price of the G0555 seemingly could not be beat. I then checked out the "scratch and dent " tent, to see if I could get a better deal. There were several G0555, but only two were still for sale. The sales assistant assured me that with the all the parts needed, I the saw, plus parts total would be a 25% discount of retail. A parts person was available just outside the tent and the sales assistant followed me out to see what the parts total would be. His computer was not working, but the parts person and sales assistant assured me that the parts I needed could be purchased separately and would not be substantial. Grizzly staff assisted in the loading of the equipment and we headed home. Now for the reason I gave the saw a low rating:The next week I ordered the parts. The list consisted of a piece of the fence, a few small parts from the tensioning lever, a guard, and some metric bolts and bushings. I then found out that I could not buy the fence parts and had to but the whole assembly, and the prices of the other small parts was GREATLY inflated. The parts person apologized and said, I very sorry, but you were misled by our staff". I had no choice, so I ordered the parts. I could have stayed home, purchased the saw plus the freight, (and had money left over) or I could have purchased the 15" saw (not including freight), with the money spent on this saw.The moral: 1) You may save by purchasing this saw for less than the competitors, but when you need parts, you will pay dearly (both monetary and in down time). These saws are made in China. And my parts order was completely filled in three months and at an exorbitant rate. 2) Find a showroom that will let you try the saw you are going to purchase. Would you buy a car without driving it first? I wish I had included "test drive" in my research, Pros: The saw has two speeds, roller guides, sealed motor (1 HP), a 4" dust port, tilting table, and the option of a six-inch riser block.Cons: Parts prices are outrageous. Fit is mediocre, and the saw needs to be tuned and adjusted more often that a heavier saw. Note: Check to see if the saw is perpendicular to tabletop on all sides of the blade, the neck of mine needed to be shimmed. They have poor customer support, not returning calls and e-mails, (but the technicians are good and do their best to solve problems). If you plan to purchase the riser block kit to resaw, don't because the saw does not have the power to saw pieces of stock larger that six inches.I will continue with the use and purchase of Jet and Powermatic woodworking machines, since I have been very happy with their products. Upon its arrival, the Grizzly catalog goes right in the recycle bin.
