Description:

We have turned one of our most popular bandsaws into an extreme machine. We made the stand heavier, the table bigger, and the cast iron wheels stronger to take on your toughest jobs. We've even added a Re-saw Fence and a built-in light. And our ingenious 2-piece table extends all the way to the left yet, allows the table to tilt to 45 degrees without removing anything. Just look at all these features and we think you'll agree, this is one awesome bandsaw.

I've had the saw for about a week now, I didn't want to review it until I had a good chance to test it out. well it past with flying colors. First off I bought mine right from Grizzly it was and they had it at my door with in 4 days. When I ordered it I got the riser block as well only about $60 for that.
br / ok the good parts of the saw.... Cast iron wheels it may not seam like much but once the 1.5 horse motor gets them spinning they wont stop for anything. I've run 8 inch wide wet elm threw with no problems. Its a very heavy machine so if you don't get a mobile base for it it will be very hard to move. I'll be making a cabnet for under mine so i can lower it down a bit and it will make it easier to make extion table and jigs for the saw.
br / The set up took no time the wheels were almost perfectly aligned other than a little tracking with the top wheel. the blade they send with is total junk so don't expect to do too much with it. Once I got some good blades it really shined. The specs. say it can run a 3/4 inch wide blade but I don't really see the need to use one that wide for this size saw. A half inch wide ripsaw blade it about as wide as you will need I suggest the wood slicer from highland woodworking.
br / I did have two problems with the saw. first the tires, they are rubber and very hard to keep clean even with dust collection running and lower wheel having a brush. I would get a small vibration when shutting off the machine if they weren't clean. So I got my self a set of poly ones for about $35. Once I put them on they stay very clean and the small vibration is gone. Also the table is a bit high at 44 inch off the floor. I'm only 5'8" so its a little tall. but like i said i'll just be making a cabent for under it
br / Over all I am very happy with my first "big" bandsaw and I see it getting a lot of work in the very near future

The GO555X is a much better saw than the Jet or others that are in the same price range. I was worried about spending this much money on a saw I had never seen. The problem with Grizzly is this. If you have a problem and you call customer service they are very nice and understanding, they tell you that someone will contact you to solve your issue but they never do. You cannot contact the people you need to talk to directly. This went on for weeks for me. It got to the point that I cancelled my payment through my credit card. Then all the sudden I was a priority with a manager at Grizzly. This was frustrating and avoidable but I truly believe that if I did not strong arm them I would still be waiting. Why the 5 stars you ask? All of my problems were actually for the G7944 Drill Press. After they resolved my issues with the drill I decided to give them another shot. I am glad I did. I went to my local Woodcraft and tried all ot there bandsaws out. Now that I have this one and can compare it to the others, there is no comparison. Just be ready to deal with customer service if it comes to that.

Amazing saw!

This was my first band saw, so I did a ton of research. My primary concern was that there'd be a bunch of issues out of the box that'd be a pain to deal with (wheels not coplanar, vibration etc). Well, I can happily say that EVERYTHING worked perfectly out of the box. I also purchased the 6" riser kit which went on without any issues whatsoever (but it does take two people to install it).
br /
br /In conclusion, everything fit together well, there was no vibration, the table's straight as an arrow and it everything seems to work perfectly. I couldn't be happier, thanks Grizzly!

Very impressed

After a couple weeks of research of various brands I decided to settle on this 14" extreme bandsaw. First-off the construction of the unit is great. Everything was in perfect shape right out of the box and it weighed alot which made this saw smooth running when doing heavy resawing. The motor is very powerful and the fence with the included re-saw attachment is the best I've seen on any of the 14" saws that I looked at. Usually the included blades are junk, but the one they included with this saw is very good. Overall, for the price, features and quality I'm very happy with this purchase.

I've had this bandsaw for a few weeks now and have been using it to cut bowl blanks for woodturning and a few veneer pieces. It has performed flawlessly. Only minor adjustment was needed on the tracking of the upper wheel, which is easily performed via an external knob.
br /
br /The 4" dust port works reasonably well, only a small bit of sawdust is left on the table which may be swept towards the blade with a bench brush after cutting is complete to send it to the dust collector. Once attached to my dust collector, I no longer needed to sweep / vacuum up the area around the saw.
br /
br /The saw was easily set up, with only minor assistance needed to lift the saw on to the base. I used a block and tackle with a 3/8" eye bolt attached to a convienient hardpoint in the frame. This way all I needed was someone to steady the saw while I hoisted it up and moved the base into position. I had the saw base on a mobile base to help move things around.

I ordered the saw on the 2nd at 10am. I picked it up at the carrier on the 3rd at noon. I drove into my drive about 1pm when the UPS guy showed up with the riser kit. Great service Grizzly!!!
br /I had it together within a couple of hours, riser block and all. All the parts were fit and finished very well. Threads and holes were all very exact and lined up well. The table was flat. The wheels were coplaner right out of the box. (Riser block did not change this).
br /The only blade I had was the 3/8 105" that came with the riser kit.
br /After adjusting the guides and getting everything tight, I turned it on.
br /Very quiet saw, I'm impressed. It passed the nickel test right off the bat.
br /I had a 2*6 By 8" piece of scrap oak. I set the fence for about 3/8"
br /I took it slow. It made it through just fine, good straight resaw, even with a 3/8" cheap factory blade.
br /The guides are all right they adjust well and all that but,I will change them out for Carters.
br /The back of the blade runs on the side of the thrust bearing. I also believe single guide bearings are not wide enough to stabilize a 5/8" resaw blade. The manual says it can take a 3'4" blade, way too big for single bearing guides. I also believe this saw to be too small to exert enough tension for a 3/4" blade anyway, so I will stay with 5/8" or 1/2" for resaw work. Overall I am very satisfied with this machine. The delivery service could not of been better.

I got the riser with the bandsaw. It was easier to add than I expected, but you do need a helper.
br /The saw is heavy enough to be extremely stable with no vibration, yet quiet. The blade guides adjust easily, both upper and lower, but the lower are not so easy to access. The on and off is within easy reach; the light is
br /a welcome accessory. The lever tension control works nicely. Both the miter guide and the rip fence are sturdy. The 1 1/2 H motor seems fine on 120V power. Overall, it's all I expected and more. Couldn't be happier with it.

After researching and studying I selected this saw over the Steel City 16", (mainly due to space constraints in my shop and my budget). I based a big part of my decision on reviews from fellow woodworkers so I hope I can help someone out as well. To say the shipping was fast would be an understatement! The saw arrived the same day I got the e-mail that it had shipped! This is my first Grizzly tool and it wont be my last. Upon opening the box I was concerned that I had purchased just another 14" bandsaw but I was quite mistaken! It took two friends and myself to put it together and install the riser block... so get some help lined up if you buy this tool.
br /
br /Fit and finish are awesome and the quality of this tool just blew me away (for the money). The bearing guides are a bit finicky but that's OK as I am going to upgrade to Carter guides soon. I bought this saw to replace a 14" Ridgid (I lovingly call the "boat anchor") and there is just no comparison.
br /
br /The saw cuts like a dream and the power is twice the Ridgid. I am not knocking Ridgid as I have the 3650 Table saw and absolutely love it. The riser block gives 12" of capacity and the saw runs very quite with the stock bearings. After fighting with cool blocks and ceramic guides for years this saw is just fantastic!
br /
br /The included fence with the re-sawing attachment is very well made as well. All in all I couldn't be more pleased and I am VERY happy with this piece of equipment!
br /
br /Update to this review.... After using the saw for awhile I am still very happy as it buzzes through anything that will fit under the bearings! I am so glad I bought this tool!
