Good saw with built in flaw

Please don't get me wrong, this saw starts and runs like a fine sports car and the fence system is extremely precise. But if you need a saw that makes repeated cuts the same depth for dados or kerfs, this is not the saw you want to own. When you start the saw, the start-up vibration causes the saw blade to drop about 1/16 of an inch because there is no blade depth locking mechanism (the built in flaw). After each cut, it is necessary to readjust the blade height if you are making precise depth cuts and proper adjustment is almost impossible because when you start the saw the blade drops again. I wish I could say it was just a problem with the one I bought but Bosch sent me a replacement saw after I discovered this problem on the first use. The replacement saw had the same problem. I returned both saws.

After burning out the motor in a DeWalt benchtop saw I replaced it with the Bosch 4000. This saw is easily the most powerful portable saw I've used. I've ripped several hundred feet of 4/4 8/4 hard maple with excellent results. It did require a good thin kerf rip blade however. The fence seems accurate and reliable though probably not as much so as the rack pinion Dewalt. The motor adjusts easily both in height and for bevel cuts. I also like the support extensions.

Probably The Only Table Saw Many People Will Need

Bosch has solved the problem with most portable table saws. Every other saw I've used is ok for ripping and non-precision work at the job site, but for quality work, I go to my larger shop saw. Many other bench saws feel like toys. This is a serious tool. Many would find it sufficient for all their table-sawing needs.pWhen combined with the optional side and outfeed supports and the stable and secure stand, it has amazing capacity. It's possible to rip a full sheet of plywood lengthwise without feeling like a Chinese acrobat.pThe fence system is excellent, and locks up square and secure. The miter gauge is of good quality, with positive stops at 90 and 45 degrees. Everything stores securely in the molded base, which includes a handy spare blade case built in. And it comes with a good 40 tooth carbide blade. Many bench saws come with a blade that seems to have some other purpose than cutting wood. The dust collection system actually works. There is a smoothness about the way everything functions that is very satisfying.pThe only bad point I can find is it's weight. It's on the heavy side for a portable, and the stand is similarly hefty. With the supports and stand, it easily breaks the 100 pound mark. If you have a bad back, it could be a killer.pYes, it's costly. You can get a nice shop saw for the price of the Bosch and its options. But if I had a choice of only one saw for all my projects, this would be it.

After reading up extensively on worksite table saws, I went with the Bosch and have not been disappointed. It has handled a variety of materials (soft and hard woods) with ease and precision.pOne problem I did have was with the washers used to secure the blade on the arbor. The outer washer wouldn't fit in the inner position such that I could use a wide dado configuration. BUT this turned into a positive. I emailed the company and got a quick response and a week later received new washers -- that fixed the problem -- via express mail.pgood job, bosch.

Oooh. That was my reaction when first using this saw. Going from a $150 "consumer" saw to this is like going from a Ford Pinto to a BMW. It feels great. The machined top has an amazing feel, almost like glass. Extensions on all sides let me cut 4 x 8 sheets easily. I plowed through dozens of maple trim pieces like I was going through butter. Few blade marks. Fewer blade burns (that I created when I shifted hands). Get this saw, and like a great car, you won't be able to wait to start her up each morning. Can I add a sixth star?

After returning the $... bargain basement model I purchased this Bosch 4000. I agree with the reviewer who compared it with a Pinto and a BMW. Sometimes I have to make sure I turned it on with the smooth start up. The rip fence is accurate, and the play in the miter is almost zero. Everything was square right out of the box. As for the dust collection, if you hook it up to your shop-vac sawdust is reduced by 95% or better, of course you have to turn on the shop-vac. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I have never found a tool that did not have any room for improvement.

I bought this saw a couple of months ago. I had been looking for a good while for a new table saw that would be stable, accurate and effective on the job site as well as at home in the shop. I have used the other top models and feature for feature, benefit for benefit, this table saw is unsurpassed. The power and accuracy this saw generates is a joy to behold. It is easily portable and with the portable stand that Bosch makes for it (which by the way is very easy to erect), it is extremely stable. I think this is undoubtably the best saw I have ever used regardless of price.

I received my saw within two weeks, in great shape, no damage. The saw was set up accurately right from the factory. After working with the saw for a couple of nights, I'm really impressed how quiet it is, no whine. It's quieter than my hand held skilsaw. The blade that came with the saw is nice also, cuts and rips smoothly and leaves knerf smooth as glass, really! The fence is accurate, and the miter with stops at 45,90,45 were accurately set from factory. All I had to do was take out of box, plug in and cut. Great saw. Also I checked on the price at a couple of local home improvement centers and Amazon beat their prices. I recommend this tool very highly.

I've been in the building business for 25 years have used all types of table saws. I've fought with fences bumping them with my hammer palm measuring to the blade to be sure the fence was right. The greatest thing about this saw is not just the fence, but its the fact that I can grab this saw with two hands put it over in the back of my truck. The saw is pricy for a portable, but I dont have any regrets about purchasing it. If your looking for one that is light accurate buy it.

My Bosch table saw just arrived via UPS. Upon opening the box and putting together the saw, I realized that this is an excellent product. It is built to take abuse and remarkably, came out of the box in near perfect alignment. The fence, blade and miter guide needed very minor tweaking to make it 100% aligned. When I first used the saw, I expected it to be noisy and vibrate across the floor. Much to my surprise, it runs smoother than my floor model table saw. It is every bit as accurate, probably more so and is an incredible machine. I conducted extensive reviews of the saw prior to purchase and noted that all reviews were very positive. The only drawback I have found is that the placement of the on-off switch could be a bit more accessible. I like to turn off the machine with my knee if necessary and this switch is rather difficult to turn off without bending over and using a hand. I expect to modify a switch to allow use of the knee. Overall, this machine is top notch!

This saw is typical of Bosch, top of the line. This benchtop, direct drive saw will run with a lot of the bigger belt drive saws in smoothness, power, quietness and accuracy. Excellent fence/measurement system. For a "benchtop" saw this is a lot of saw, the pictures don't do it justice, it is a nice sized machine. An excellent choice for a small home woodshop or construction site.

I have owned this saw for 3 years and have used it very heavily during this time. When I bought the saw, the gravity rise base wasn't available and the weight of the saw was an issue. I added the gravity rise after it became available and would strongly advise getting this great heavy duty stand with the saw.
br /Performance of the saw has been outstanding. I have used it for interior and exterior trim work and found the precision outstanding. Sure, it's a bit pricy but if you make your living as a carpenter, this saw is the one you can count on day in and day out.

I like the saw just fine. Its a bit heavy but still i can slide it into my van alone its just that the ruber handle needs wheels so you can roll it in rather than push it. If you have the grav-stand with wheels you'll know what i mean. I will have to make some kind of adapter or rest the handle on a plastic tray then lift and push it in. Also If you buy from amazon dont use eagal shiping 4 hours after it was droped off i had 2 mutts trying to break into my garage. The driver saw all my tools and made a phone call to his boys. i called the cops and eagal and my alarm company. free shiping almost emptyed my garage of tools

loved the dewalt until i got the bosch. i travel on commercial work and both are easily moved and set up, but watch your fingers with that dewalt stand! 1 point bosch, their stand is far superior. now the fence, the most important component in an upside down skilsaw (hey, that's all a portable table saw is, right?) well, at first, the dewalt rack and pinion seems better, certainly a finer feel, but in practical application i say they both work equally well. on to the accessories and it's bosch hands down. buy them all, you'll love them. the same with the on board storage ( blades, mitre slide, etc.) * except the sawdust collecter which is a joke) as far as the motor comparison, i.e. 13 amps on the dewalt - 15 amps on the bosch, i must admit this hasn't as of yet had an effect on my life. ( but, hey, it's AMERICA, and bigger's better, right? )

After examining several top table saws, the Bosch is by far the best on the market. The soft-start feature is great, all adjustments are easy to make, and very solid once they are made. The motor is very powerful, and cuts through all materials with ease. Comes with a case to hold extra blades, which is very nice as it has a carry handle as well. Mainly a very solid machine that is made to last.

I love this saw! The fence is super easy to move and set. It cuts super straight. No adjustments were needed. The saw took me about 5 minutes to set up out of the box, then I was off and making perfect cuts. I added the Freud combi blade. (The saw manufactures never give you a good blade with the saw.) The saw is super easy to use. It is made well and the larger table feature is a huge plus for me when I need it. When I hook the vaccumeI did not get the red stand, because it sucks. I opted for the wheeled version and am very happy. This saw is so nice, now everyone who works with me want one for themselves! It is a good inventment.

Don't get me wrong - I love Bosch saws, in fact I got the Bosch 3915 compound sliding 10" mitersaw less than a year ago on Amazon for $379 - Which brings me to my point: This is a small light-duty table saw thats fine for small home projects, so why is it priced at $579!!!
br /
br /I got a Ryobi tablesaw with almost identical specs (13 amp) on sale at Home Depot for $89 last summer (regular price is $99!), and Lowes has a Delta for about the same price. My Ryobi is cast aluminum table with a resin base, just like the Bosch. Sure this Bosch has it's "soft-start" motor, and it appears to have a domewhat better guide -- But is that worth $450 more???
br /
br /No - I don't own this saw, and have never used it, and I'm sure it good quality, but again this (like my Ryobi) is a utilitarian tabelsaw and nothing more! And just think what other tools you could get with that extra cash!
