Grizzly makes quality tools at very good prices. i was looking to upgrade from my delta benchtop to a lower end contractor saw. After much research i found that the Grizzly G0444 was the best choice for the $. i searched the net high and low trying to find complaints or criticism on this saw, but i could find nothing but positive stuff.
br /
br /i actually went down to the Bellingham WA showroom to see the product. Very nice quality. This company has excellent customer service.
br /
br /Assembling the saw and fence took about 5 hours. My son helped. It is a heavy sucker weighing in at about 280 pounds. You could probably put it together faster. On a scale of 1 to 10 being mechnically inclined i am about a 4 (10 being high). The manual while not perfect was pretty good. Anyhow, the point is if i can put the thing together anyone can! As with any saw of this size some assembly is required.
br /
br /The fence was spot on out of the box. No adjustment necessary. The only problem encountered was one of the 6 undercarriage screws would not align. But fence is rock solid without it. It is a Shop Fox, "Biesemeyer clone". Very nice quality.
br /
br /Alignment of the stamped steel wings was one of the trickiest aspects of the assembly. The manuals suggestion of using a piece of masking tape as a shim worked perfect. It would have been nice to have had cast wings, but i can live with these wings. The G0444Z has cast wings, though i do not know if these can be used on the G0444 model.
br /
br /Alignment of the blade to the table was dead nuts on using my 4" precision square. The miter gauge was aligned to the blade.
br /
br /i did not skimp on the blade opting for a Forrest Woodworker II. i am glad i made this choice. Works like a champ for crosscutting and ripping stock under 2". Get a good blade. Buying nice tools and crummy cutters is like getting a ferrari and stocking it with a Pinto engine.
br /
br /If you have the opportunity to visit one of the companies showrooms do it. You can see firsthand that these folks make nice stuff.
br /
br /I would buy Grizzly again, and their 560 page catalog can keep an avid woodworker amused for a long time.

I must admit it...I almost bought a Ryobi BT3100 from Home Depot. Fortunately for me, they were out of stock! I had owned a BT3000 for several years, and the cheesy little motor burned up after, frankly, not very much use. A new motor runs 150-200.00, so I junked the entire saw. I did some internet surfing for product information on 10" table saws, and liked what I read about the Grizzly tool line. The 1-1/2HP motor at 110Volts was a big attraction, as was the cast iron table on this model. I decided to order one, and did so from Amazon.com. I received an e-mail from Grizzly very quickly advising me of the weight and shipping information about the common carriers that deliver these things. Since I have a loading dock at my business this was no problem for me, and I advised them to go ahead and ship it out ASAP. I had the saw within the week! It comes well packed in one carton, with the Shop Fox fence in another. Two men or one man and a strong woman or boy can handle the saw carton. A handtruck is handy to move it to the area where you intend to assemble it. I unpacked the unit and began assembly. Putting this together is a snap; there is nothing complex but the number of bolts that hold the stand together take up most of the assembly time. The instructions are fairly clear with no major hurdles. The same for the shop Fox fence assembly. In about 3 hours the saw was ready to go. I had two minor problems with the saw. The plastic handle on the Shop Fox came broken in the carton, and a cast iron piece on the motor mount assembly cracked when I tightened a bolt into one of the bolt holes in it. I sent an e-mail to Grizzly and received the two parts within a week. No hassle...their customer service was wonderful! (Note: that was one of the big turn-offs with Ryobi and Home Depot-I could never get an answer to any questions, or any help about parts for the BT3000!) I spent the week-end cutting parts out of black walnut for an Adirondack chair that I am building. This saw is a real workhorse. The motor is a powerhouse; teamed with a good blade it will cut through hardwoods with ease. The Shop Fox Fence is a delight to use, lines up smoothly and locks into position solidly. Finish on the saw is good, and the cast iron table dampers the vibration effectively. Mention of the motor noise has been made by some, but I do not find it to be excessive. My son told me that he thought it was quieter than my "old saw". I like the belt drive also, I suspect that when this belt wears out, I will be able to take it down to the auto parts store and match it up with a belt from their stock. I like this saw a lot, and I'm glad that I went for the extra $$ and got this machine. After looking at all the saws available for under 900.00, I would say that this is the best saw out there for the money. One final note: order the dolly with the saw if you plan to move this around at all. This saw is heavy and you won't slide or walk it around like other units. The dolly makes rolling the saw around easy, and locks down two pins to your floor when you want to keep it in place. It works well.

I started looking for a new saw several months ago. My small old Craftsman just wasn't accurate enough. I looked at several brands including a better craftsman, Jet, Ridgid, and Delta. Upon a visit to HD. I was sure I was going to buy the Ridgid 3650. What a nice saw that is. But then my buddy tried to talk me into a Delts 36-650. It is a nice saw and about a 100 bucks cheaper than the Ridgid. So I did some research on woodnet and everyone was raving about the grizzly brand table saws. They really looked good in the picture and the specs were just what I was looking for. I had a hard time deciding between this saw and the Z model. The Z has .5 HP more motor and cast iron wings. I didn't really care too much about the wings because I am putting a router table on instead. But I wanted the 2HP motor. But didn't want to pay $100 more for it. Based on the models I previously mentioned all having 1.5HP motors, I made my decision and purchased the G0444. I am truly glad I did! This saw is exactly what I was looking for. Very stable, smooth operations. The pics do not do the shop fox fence any justice. This is as nice as a Biesmeyer. This saw is second to none. For the price even with the shipping I saved money over comparable saws. I cut a piece of 2" thick oak like a hot knife through butter. Needless to say I am very happy with this saw and the way it was delivered. The driver showed up at my house with a 30' bobtail truck and helped me get it into my garage and waited for me to open the box to make sure nothing was damaged. Grizzly and Amazon did a wonderful job and I am 100% satisfied.
This is the BEST saw for under $600

This is a totally awesome saw. I was deciding between this one (actually the left tilt version, aka G0575) and the General 50-185. I took a look at the General on display at a local woodworking store and decided that the $150 price difference was not justified as the fit and finish was not any better than my grizzly bandsaw. Based on past experience with grizzly shipping and customer service, I went ahead and bought this saw. The saw arrived with a cracked fence and dust chute during shipping, but a call to grizzly resolved my issue. Grizzly will be sending a new fence and dust chute. After about two days off and on of my spare time I finally got the saw together and alligned per Kelly Mehler's table saw book, and teamed with a freud blade, I find the 1.5HP was more than adequate for my needs. As the owner of 3 griz tools so far, I believe that the ones that come from their ISO9001 factories are far better than the ones that dont. The ISO ones (including the G0575, I actually called and checked with griz) have a much cleaner finish. There is no paint overspray or metal burrs on edging that needs to be filed down, whereas my drill press which is not from ISO factory has these problems. If you are looking for a contractor saw, this is the one to get. Based on reviews, both the General and this Grizzly are excellent saws, but unless you need a 2HP motor and Cast iron wings, the grizzly is the best deal. Or you can check out the G0444Z or G0576 left tilt version of the G0444Z and still save some money over the General. My only regret is that I didnt buy it before griz increased the price as of Jan1, 05.

Well, after three weeks and numerous headaches later, this saw finally made it to my house here in Arizona. Or, should I say at least Box # One of Two, to be shipped. Grizzly said the Table Saw left their storage facility a long time ago, but got stuck or left somewhere in a Dallas, Texas, Shipping Facility awaiting a Sub-Contracted Cargo Carrier for pick-up.
br /
br /(I just hope it wasn't the Three Stooges Cargo Carriers: Larry, Moe and Curley!) As I live out in a remote area between Phoenix and Florence Arizona, and it's a new housing developement and not even listed on any maps yet.
br /
br /Heck, I called up Grizzly and explained the situation to them and said that I could have split the $75.00 in shipping with them, and driven to Texas and drove the Saw ( Both Large Boxes ) back with me two weeks ago...instead, now all I can do is open up box # 1 and see whats inside.
br /
br /Well, I am VERY IMPRESSED! This is one sweet outfit. I have four neighbors stop by with their wives after work today, checking this saw in all of its pieces laid out. The Owners Manual looks pretty good and its printing is some of the better ones I have seen so far for a power tool made overseas. (I'm thinking Grizzley just sold four more of these saws), as I told my new (Friendly) neighbors to get their own saw as they are not using this one!! Sorry, but I waited all my life to finally get some nice tools and this one looks like the Crown Jewel in my two car garage. I just have to try to figue out how to clean this shipping grease off of these metal parts. When I get Box # Two of Two at my residence and get this saw put all together with the help of all my neighbors Left Thumbs I'll write back and tell you how this saw gets put together. I'm a newly interested wood worker who is trying to build Book Cases and Shelving throughout the newly built house.
br /
br /(PS)Two carpenters (contractors) building a new house three doors down just left Very Impressed after driving by and noticing the saw parts out in the driveway. I gave them Grizzly's Web Site through Amazon.com.

br /O.K. IT'S 13TH OF MARCH, 2005...TIME ( A FEW MONTHS NOW )HAS PASSED AND THIS SAW REALLY IS A BIT-OF-ALL-RIGHT! (THE LOST SECOND BOX ARRIVED ABOUT A WEEK AFTER IT WAS LOST). THE ONLY TROUBLE I HAD WAS WHEN MY NEIGHBORS SEEN IT KEEP HEARING ME USING IT IN MY GARAGE, THEY WANT TO KEEP BORROWING IT....FORGET IT PALS...GRIZZLY PRODUCTS ARE GREAT...AND DUE TO THE SHIPPING MISHAPS, GRIZZLE THREW IN FOR """FREE"""" A FOX-DOLLY TO MOVE THIS TABLE SAW AROUND ON! HOW SWEET WAS THAT!!! I KID YOU NOT, I'M BUY THE REST OF MY LARGE POWER TOOLS FROM GRIZZLY....SOLID AND WELL BUILT!

br /GOOD LUCK AND KEEP THINKING " GRIZZLY "

I am a newbie at woodworking, but I am also a Master Automobile Mechanic with 25+ years of experience. I mention this because I have purchased lots of tools during that time. I think I have a good eye for well built tools. This Grizzly saw is nicely built. I was comparing it to the Rigid TS-3650 and some of the new Craftsman saws. The Rigid looks nice on paper, but when I saw one at a local store the plastic lever for locking the fence had been snapped off and except for the cast iron tables, it looked cheap. I was also turned off by the fact that longer extension rails are not available for it. Home Depot had it for $547.00 and a $100.00 Home Depot Gift Card plus an additional 10% off if you open a credit card account with them. This credit card will allow you to finance for no interest for 6 months. Doesn't sound like a bad deal, does it? I believe this promotion has ended however.
br /The Craftsman saws are nice looking, have a nice fence and they also offer financing, but they were a little more expensive and I was surprised by the amount of negative comments about them I found in online reviews. This will be a tool that I will keep for a long time and I wanted no doubts about long term reliability.
br / I picked the Grizzly and I am glad I did. I believe this is the best saw out there for the money. For me this was the right compromise between features/proformance and price. This is a nice machine. The fence is excellent, very easy to adjust and locks down solidly. You will not break the handle off this one!I believe the stamped steel extension wings can be upgraded to cast iron with wings from the "Z" model. Longer rails are also available and the motor can be easily rewired to 220v, although I have had no complaints using it with 110v. I am using a Freud thin kerf 50t carbide combination blade and it cuts beautifully. Don't go cheap on the blades and be sure to read up on which blades to buy for the type of material you will be sawing.
br /I had it delivered to work and was able to bring it home with my four door Accord after removing some items from the biggest box. It will take a least 3 people to load it, this thing is heavy!
br /Very happy with purchase. Thanks Grizzly and Amazon.

I'm extremely happy with this saw. Bought it about 8 weeks ago and been using it a lot in the mean time. Very solid construction, barely any vibration. The fence is 1st class - I'm getting accuracy of 1/32"(and better) in ripping.
br /The saw came well packaged. Be prepared for a freight transport (You'll need a truck with a lift gate for residential delivery!
br /Perhaps the only weak point is the miter gauge: I found it difficult to get very accurate non-90ยบ angles set consistently. You'll need either a protractor or get the Kreg precision miter gauge.
br /I bought the Jet Heavy-duty universal mobile base (708118) with the saw and this turned out to be the perfect base for the saw. It's not going anywhere when the wheels are locked, but moves easily when they're unlocked.
br /Again, I'm very glad I went with this saw. I'll keep buying tools from Grizzly!

I bought this saw after reading the reviews on Amazon. I wasn't disappointed. It was relatively simple to put together and it cuts well. There is almost no vibration and the cuts are smooth and straight. I got the Shop Fox mobile base which works very well.

I received this saw in 4 days. It was shipped on time and the boxes were not damaged. It took about 3 hours and fun to put together with a few beers. This machine is worth the money. The fence is very nice. It locks and stays locked. You will love the power switch and where its located. I bought the stand with this saw and it works great. Im very happy with this buy.

I just received my saw a few days ago. First I'd like to say it came packaged well from grizzly. It has clear instructions for assembly and as I removed all the parts I could tell that this is a quality saw.
br /
br /The only thing I dont like is that the scale on the miter guage is a decal that's already coming loose and I haven't even used it yet. But since I also ordered an incra miter guage for maximum accuracy it really doesnt matter to me. This miter guage does have slot adjustments to keep it square to the blade and tight in the slot, and is heavy duty cast iron. Although it's not an incra it's still good.
br /
br /I wasn't sure before receiving the saw if I should have gone for the "Z" model with cast iron wings. But rest assured that although these are stamped steel wings, they are really heavy duty and extremely sturdy. I have no regrets at all.
br /
br /Once it was assembled, I fired her up and she ran extremely smooth. No vibration at all. You'll love the Shop Fox fence that comes with it. It's a beauty and very sturdy and accurate. All the blade and fence adjustments were dead on right out of the box.
br /
br /I'm sure this is the last table saw I will ever need, unless someone steals this one, LOL! Dont hesitate guys, this saw is a winner!

This saw only took 3 days to be delivered, box was nicely packed with no rips or holes. It is heavy, be easy on yourself and have the delivery person unload it(company unloading the saw is not guaranteed) mine did. and put it on a furniture dolly immediately, this is a big help to manuever the saw around til you put this sweet saw together. After putting it together approx.3-4 hours if you are taking your time, once you get the motor lined up get the fence installed use a sharp new carbide blade......This saw is so impressive, solid, smooth, this is the best deal on the planet for a table saw, my woodshop teacher helped assemble it and he was drooling over this piece of cast iron art. Everyone, you will not be disappointed, this saw compares to saws that cost 1500.00 and I researched the heck out of all table saws, for months.A big thank you to Sears for being out of stock of the saw I almost purchased. will buy all of my power tools only with "Grizzly" stamped on them. Grizzly rocks!!

After doing a lot of reasearch I decided on this Grizzly G0444 model to be my first table saw. I have done very little woodwork and the little I have done in the past was with a Jet brand table saw. What a night and day difference between the two brands. The Jet brand I was used to was SO noisy compared to the Grizzly! and very the Grizzly makes very accurate cuts (even considering I was the one who assembled it;)
br / The directions were a bit intimidating at first because it didn't have as many detailed pictures/instructions as I am used to, but with a little time and patience, got it done. I am very happy with my purchase. Two thumbs up Grizzly!!

I bought this saw from Amazon last week. I've only used it a few hours, but it is great! I'm very happy with it. I read a lot of reviews and settled on it, so I figure I had better put in my comments after I finally got one.
