I just purchased this saw (May 06) as a replacement for a Delta Contractors saw and since it was a new saw there were few reviews of it so I was betting on the come as to quality etc. This saw is everything I had hoped it would be and more. The saw is backordered about 6 weeks and it comes in a pretty sturdy crate of 1/4" fiberboard (no damage shipping with SAIA trucking). Taking it down to the shop was an adventure at 400+ lbs but once there my son and I got it setup and squared away to within 0.005" in about 2 hours. I wired it for 220VAC on a dedicated line and that was a great choice. When I ordered it I also ordered the 220VAC switch (extra $85) which was even more backordered than the saw. So once the saw arrived I had to wait another 3 weeks for the switch to see how the thing worked. My expectations were high and the saw has performed to date above and beyond expectations. I am in the middle of a cherry project and it cuts the cherry like a hot knife thru butter. Where the Delta bogged down on just about any cut this thing goes thru as fast as you can feed it (using the same blade). Vibration is minimal on the Mobile base, it is QUIET, the Aluma fence is a joy and setup was about as minimal as one could hope for. The only problem was with the fence and the factory assemblers hand tightened the fence knob so much that it was cracked. I called Grizzly and the new knob was in my hands in 5 days. Customer service is first rate. After all the problems I had read on line about problems people had with Delta's quality control I was really concerned but I would give Grizzly the highest marks possible for building a quality machine at an affordable price.

I've been woodworking since high school--I'm 42. For the past ten yrs or so I've been using Delta's light-weight, direct-drive contractors saw to handle all of my projects. When I saw this saw on Grizzly's site, read the only two reviews on Amazon's site, and one rewiew from the web of a guy who tested all of the leading hybrid saws on the market today,--and he recommended Grizzly over the Jet, DeWalt, General, Craftsman, SteelCity, and Hitachi, I decided to go for it. Trust me, this is not a simple step up from a light weight or heavy duty contractors saw, this is a full blown professional saw. Outside of the extention wings and the fence, it comes completely assembled. I bought the G4572 switch to wire it for 220V and this baby sings like a sewing machine. With a full kerf blade installed, it will cut 3/4 oak almost as fast as you can feed it safely. The fence is almost as heavy as both extension wings together. The only complaint was that the cam action on the fence lock-down was not machined properly so that it could come all the way down an lock in place. But a quick trip to the grinder fixed that. Bottom line, if it holds up, I will never have to look for another saw again. This is what I've been waiting for!

I just received this saw direct from Grizzly.

Shipping & Packing:
I did not experience the shipping damage issues referenced in other reviews. My saw arrived completely crated in MDF panels with no visible damage to the packing materials and no damage to the saw. The fence came separately and it arrived the day after the saw did due to a mistake by UPS. The fence box was battered but all the parts were free of any damage. Grizzly customer service was good throughout the process. I ordered the separate magnetic switch that is required to run the saw on 220V...it cost $50 from Grizzly. It is surprising that for $750 you do not get a plug included with the saw...this seems inconsistent with Grizzly's reputation for good value since plugs are cheap (I paid $3 for a 220V plug at Home Depot).

Set-up:
Setting the saw up was straightforward and the instructions included with the saw are easy enough to follow. You definitely need two people to move the extensions in place when attaching.

Performance:
The saw cuts great. I installed a Forrest Woodworker II blade which performs great. I can rip and cross-cut hardwoods and rip plywood with no tear-out. I highly recommend this blade for this Grizzly saw. Dust-collection is good when paired with a separate collector. The saw runs smooth and appears to have ample power given the limited cutting I have done thus far. My brother has the Grizzly G1023L and loves it. I went with the G0478 because I did not have as much space as he does and I am very happy with the decision, the G0478 is a great saw for the price and the size. I am impressed with the build quality and the heavy duty features this saw has. I think it is an excellent value for those looking for a sub-$1,000 saw that is capable of serious cutting.

This is my first table saw. I ordered it directly from Grizzly over the phone, the lady who took my call was most helpful. I had some issues of my own concerning my shops electrical supply, not Grizzly's problem, but they helped me anyway! Bought the 220 switch, wired it up and it runs and cuts like a dream. Make sure you pay attention when mounting the cast iron wings though, I had them oriented wrong the first time which will not allow you to mount the switch correctly. Otherwise this was a most pleasing flawless experience.

Alot of bang for your buck!

I got my saw from the Grizzly showroom in Springfield, MO. I've had it a few months now, and while I haven't been able to use it as much as I'd like to, every experience cutting with it has been a pleasure.

Setup was fairly easy (I did it by myself, except for lifting the saw off my truck and lifting it onto the Shop Fox base.) with one wing needing to be shimmed to make it true. I'd like to re-stress the advice of another reviewer who said to pay attention when installing the wings, because I also got my wings installed and got to the step where you install the power switch only to discover that I had installed the wings backwards - This is not well covered in Grizzly's setup instructions.

Everything else about the saw is great! This is a big, heavy saw and has almost no vibration. I purchased a Forrest Woodworker II thin kerf blade to go with the saw (the saw does not come with a blade), and this combination of saw and blade cuts fantastically! The Biesemeyer fence system is rock steady and the miter gauge is quite adequate for my needs, so far.

The saw's stiffest test to date was cutting some big dadoes (using Grizzly's 8" stacking dado blades) into a pair of sistered together 2x4's. the saw performed perfectly, not bogging down at all at any point, and once again, vibration was almost indiscernible.

So - while I envy those of you who have shops wired for 220 - I don't feel like I'm missing much with my G0478 running on 110. This is one HECK of a saw!!

This is a great saw. I purchased this saw from Amazon about a month ago. I currently have it hooked up to 20AMP circuit (120v service), given I do not have 220v in my shop. I am very pleased. Plenty of power. Solid. Heavy. Limited vibration. Fence is very accurate. I found that I really like the switch. To turn off the saw, just lightly touch the off button. This will shutoff the saw without throwing it into safety mode. When you are done for the day, push the off button all the way in and it'll trigger the safety, which prevents the little ones from turning on the saw. You then just turn the off button and pull out to remove the safety measure and you're back in business. I am impressed with the fence and the power of the saw. Dust collection is very nice. I highly recommend this saw.

I bought this saw directly from Grrizzly after months of research and I am extremely happy with this purchase. The price of this saw is between low level contractor saws and most cabinet saws. This saw offers super smooth operation and is extremely accurate. I have never been extremely impressed with most of the t-square style fences, but this one is heavy duty and glides effortlessly across the table. The dust collection is excellent and both of the extension tables are dead-on flat. I had a problem with the fence and Grizzly replaced it in less than a week at no charge. Also, the people I spoke to were from PA and helped me over the phone in less than a minute. Out of all of this, the thing I am pleased with the most is the cut quality of this saw. It is excellent. I recommend this saw to anybody.

This saw has been a pleasure to use. I have built my shop around this saw and it has not let me down. I wired it for 220 and have it on a mobile base to free up some floor space. The saw stands up to the nickel test every time I move it. A wonderful deal for the money!

This saw is a piece of JUNK!!!!!!!!

I recently bought this hybrid saw for my cabinet shop to replace my old saw after a kickback ripped off two fingers. I spent a lot of time researching which saw to buy and finally decided on the hybrid, even though two other cabinet builders advised against it.
problems:
1. 3 month delivery time
2. Knowing I was on 220 Volt, i had to purchase a different switch, no problem, except the 220v switch does not fit the mounting plate that the 110v switch was mounted to. The new mounting plate cost $100 and took over a month to arrive. No one at grizzly warned me of this mounting switch problem ahead of time.
3. The saw ran fine for about 2 to 3 weeks then would refuse to power up completely and would cut off.
4. Even though the item came with a year warranty, they would not take back the saw for a full refund after the first 30 days (never mentioned anywhere in the paperwork), and would take several calls in order to find someone to talk to.
5. After finally reaching someone in Grizzly to talk to about this problem, thier only solution was to have an electrician from Grizzly to call me.
6. After ALOT of talking with the electrician we determined that the saw was defunct, so i was sent back to customer service. They told me they would call me back.
7. Two weeks later they called me back to tell me they could do nothing for me.

Summary
1. The hybrid table saw is NOT a reliable tool for serious woodworkers. 2. Grizzly's customer service is not very servicable and would take serval days to get any answers from.
3. The year warranty is not valid for full refund after the first 30 days which makes it really only a 30 day warranty. They will try to tell you how to fix any problems but if the fix does not work, then they consider the problem to not be there own and it is up to you to fix it.

Outcome:
After only having this saw for about 2 1/2 months, i spent about $800.00 dollars on electricians, $500 on shop rental fees in another location just so I could get cabinets built, and countless hours with a customer service that hardly cares about any problems you may have with thier products. I just spent another $2,000 dollars on a REAL cabinet table saw and put the Grizzly hybrid table saw out on the street with a "FREE" sign on it. My last check it was no longer there so Im sure it will end up on another street corner with the same sign on it.

In closing
NEVER buy a Grizzly Hybrid Table Saw and if you could avoid it (based on my experience with Grizzly customer service) never buy ANYTHING from Grizzly.

We have been on vacation almost since the saw came in so my husband hasn't had a chance to try it out on his furniture building hobby. He is very impressed with what he has tinkered with. He did a lot of research on table saws before purchasing this one.
